So the young soldier wanted to fight after all. As much as Imugi would have enjoyed felling the antagonistic Saiyan in one blow, there was a certain satisfaction to be had in taking something apart bit by bit. As Edamame grew into the familiar giant form, one of the demon’s swings bit into his armoured back while the building collapsed beneath the colossus. To Imugi’s immediate irritation, their following attacks had been met with interference. They hadn’t even noticed that man-eating creature pursuing them, skittering deftly up to the point where he leapt up to intercept another of Imugi’s swings. Disappointment curled their features into a frown as Zoki’s hard carapace absorbed and repurposed the attack towards its maker.
“Mistake.”
Lifting their sword, the light cast from the metal edge grew even brighter than before. With only moments to spare before the bolt of energy would strike, the blade moved as a flash, catching the energy along its base and flicking it skyward to be forgotten. In one fluid movement, the demon lurched through the air before Zoki even had the time to fall. The aura magnified around the demon, reflected in their eye, an eerie warning of the hell Zoki was about to pay. Yet the strike never came.
That’s right. Behind the oversized insect, the oversized primate had readied his retaliation. Hissing through grit teeth, Imugi readjusted the course of their attack at the last second. Thrusting their sword forward, the energy gathered was discharged as a spiralling orange spear towards Edamame, weaving through the comparatively massive attack to puncture the Saiyan’s armour again. Whether or not it struck true, Imugi was still left with a problem of their own. The aforementioned massive attack was bearing down on them, and they were much too slow to escape it. Not for a lack of trying, as they attempted to descend back into the city. Too slowly.
The first of the verdant orbs detonated, wracking the demon’s body with pain and stunning them where they hung in the air. The second, no less intense, flung them down into the streets with a cry that was lost in the rumbling. Barely able to stand, Imugi looked furiously up at the third given the lack of opportunity to do much else. Unabated by the one-eyed glare, it too exploded upon them with a tremendous fireball.
Even if it weren’t for the clash between Super Saiyans in the distance, no silence was allowed to hang in the air. Before the dust had even cleared, a scream echoed up the buildings, suffering webs of cracks from the shockwave. In the centre of a brand new crater, Imugi laid in a burned sprawl, trembling from the pain permeating their form. “Stupid child…! Impetuous bastard…!” Seemingly fighting off the agony with a string of curses, Imugi eventually began to stand with the help of their aura. Curiously to those who could detect as much, their strength had dropped significantly until they retrieved their lost sword. Immediately upon grasping the hilt, the orange energy spread to their body once more, returning their power.
“You won’t get away with it…!” Levitating only a few feet from the ground, Imugi stuck out their arm in a challenging gesture to the immense Oozaru. Water, bursting from pipes damaged by the blast and leaking into the crater, began to pool towards the injured swordsman. “Come then! Come and die a pitiful death, IN THE NAME OF YOUR KING!” Imugi’s ragged voice managed to rise to a shouting provocation, punctuated by the swell of water erupting into a geyser around them. The cool shower washed any fogginess from their mind, bringing clarity to their anger, but was also an extremely conspicuous act. Wherever Zoki had ended up, they’d need the beast around too, and hoped that would get his attention.
