What has happened to his homeland?

Tabor had spent many weeks preparing to one day help protect Namek from the clutches of evil once more, hoping to finally take up the mantle of warrior of the planet as he should've back when it was attacked and corrupted months ago, a regret he still wore to this very day. Now, however, things were oddly similar, yet quite different. As Tabor trained his body within the Dragon Isles, he couldn't help but listen to his surroundings and note the noise that was being made. Or, more specifically, the lack of noise. He should be hearing the sounds of life around him, the grass blowing in the wind, the animals prowling the lands, and yet it all fell silent. He knew something was wrong.

As he turns towards the vast, still oceans, the warrior couldn't sense any nearby life North of where he was. That was, except for two. He immediately flies off to investigate what is happening to his land, worry and dread stricken across his face as he soon spots one of the two sources of power: A tall tree, sitting on a lone island. Many figures stood nearby, one of which he could immediately tell was extraordinarily powerful while the others, well, the other seemed almost empty when it came to his energy. Whatever is happening here, they must have the answers. Without letting another moment pass, the warrior namekian pulls out his bardiche and points it at the man with the bird hybrid.

"Who are you, and what is happening here?!" he shouts to the stranger, "Are you the one responsible for all of this death and..." Before he could even continue, Tabor looked down towards the ground as he began to sense some faint energy beneath him. He didn't notice before, but he could sense the life energy of the animals and plants beneath him, or at least, what remained of them. His eyes widen in horror as the once beautiful creatures that decorated the Namek landscape were horribly mutated, with many growing new appendages, extra mouths and eyes, or even began forcibly fusing with other animals.

His eyes shot right back at the man once more, but by the time he looks back, both he and the bird were gone, leaving only the woman behind. He shifts his bardiche to her and demands, "This tree must be removed at once. You will assist me or you will get out of my way."

Saiba-Ban was fucking pressed. This tree was fucking scary. He should not of agreed to help Kamae with all of this. But he had agreed and now he signed his lot with the devil. He was too afraid and too indebted to back down. What was gonna do if he didn't help? Derry would think he was some traitor and then what would he do? He would be screwed! He could see the creature who Dna's was being changed thanks to the tree's power. It was disgusting. But he had said he would help out. Saiba-Ban would peak his head from his hiding as he saw some people had come to stop this. He had meet one of them, he was pretty sure it was Ollo. Some teenager trying to learn magic? He had put thoughts in his head (or was that odd looking demon guy he could not remember). The other was a Namekian and he had no idea who he was. Just great, why couldn't people just let them do there thing.

Saiba-Ban would get out of his hiding spot and come walking out trying to look as confident as possible but for anyone looking he looked about as confident as a mouse. And maybe even more conflicted about this situation. He would look towards the Two defenders of Namek. Maybe he could talk them out of this. He was good at his words. "I see you two are here to stop this tree. Now I understand why you want to stop it. But I think we can talk this out. You can move the people away from this area pretty quick. You guys fighting us means more people will die. If you move them away from here well....then when the tree is done then we can get going. I really don't wanna have to fight you guys. But, I been tasked with defending this tree. Hope you understand."

It was not a good sale's pitch. People were dying already. And he was trying to stop them from stopping that. He was not the good guy. But Saiba-Ban had a job to do. Maybe he could do some moves then get out of dodge. OH that be a good idea! He could help defend then flee at the best chance to escape. That could work! Saiba-Ban was pretty sure that would not work but it was all he could think of. He was so afraid of what was going to happen to him. He didn't wanna die. But he was also afraid of what would happen if he fled and that got back to Derry or worse Kamae tree finished and he became godlike and hunted Saiba-Ban down. It might just be better to take his chance with these guys. At least it seemed he had a chance to send them running as compared to Kamae or Derry.

Jackie was among one of the villages once the skies darkened. A peculiarity on the planet of multiple asynchronous stars. Pretty much everyone was out and staring towards the dread they felt creeping on. Jackie and Tambe, her large and green namekian friend, had just parted from one of the small homes to look up with a cringe. Had her senses not picked up something approaching the planet? Tambe crossed his arms in a

"This is disturbing..."
The Kami had to take precious moments concentrating on the oppressive forces not gathering around this source. Far away, yet many were so familiar. Of the ones, she didn't recognize, most felt twisted. A distorted life force. Hell, that tree, now springing to life out from many islands away, gave off that sort of unnatural pull. Like it was trying to get under her skin. She didn't know what THIS was, but she did sense a more pressing presence.

The Ring. It had finally come, its proximity to this object alarming. And it seemed to pull quite the crowd around it. A lot of them familiar friends. She was actually surprised by a few. Well, if they had already congregated on the spot, that saved her a lot of trouble finding where she struck and rallying everyone. That wasn't really the issue anyways though. For some of these mutated life forms started crawling their way past the seas and islands to make land near the village.

"By Porunga, what is THAT!?"
A few of the Namekians started nervously exclaiming and gasping as a pair of avian creatures made headway. Their wings twisted several times, but were able to grant flight. The more distressing parts were the heads, that came to resemble that of a mangled Namekian. It was one of their siblings, badly contorted by this presence. Not only that, it wailed in pain as it tried attacking some of the more curious ones out front. Those anxious winces from the pair turn to some larger-scale fear. Jackie was sweating, before turning to the warrior Namekian at her side with about as stern a face the woman could muster.

"Tambe! We've not got time to investigate this one. I'm gonna try and pass messages along to the others surrounding the tree. Villages and outsiders alike. I need you to gather some of the warrior clan to beat off whatever THIS is. Try to move the villagers away from the isles and ESPECIALLY the tree, whatever it is doin' isn't good!"
Their alliance was a mutual understanding, and Tambe knew he was no good against what powers laid at the tree. It was better them to split up an effort here and now to move people if THIS was happening. Telepathically, she had made short work to make sure those in this village knew to safely evacuate the area.

The problem was going to be the other villages. She's been practicing a lot, but linking her mind with strangers she can't see is going to take some effort. Moving closer while trying to branch these connections will make telling the elders and relevant villagers that they needed to go. As fast as she could, Jackie let her energy loose and soared into the sky, in the common direction of this tree sticking from the ground.

She had to knock a few more of these mutated creatures away from her mid-flight, as they appeared aggressive. All while trying to multitask talking with the Namekians.

Then, something hit her. A deep, guttural feeling as she threw her senses back at the tree folk. Did any of them know just WHO they were dealing with? She's only spoken to Ward and Erebos about it, and even then they might not be able to recognize it just off looks alone. She'd make a few adjustments in flight while gritting her teeth and throwing her mind out to those who might need to be privy to such things. That slight tingle in the back of their minds as Jackie's thoughts are projected into theirs.

Cipher? Erebos. Ward. Nasu? They could talk about why they were on Namek later. Right now, it was better they just know. She seemed to be good enough at this now to be fighting a few straggling mutations while speaking with her mind across multiple separated people.

"Hello? Hope this doesn't freak you out or nothin'. It's just me, Jackie. For some, we just met, and others I haven't seen in a hot second. But we're kinda pressed for time here. I'm sensing the ancient entity is here, The Ring. It hasn't told me its name, and perhaps it doesn't have one, but that doesn't matter too much. You should be able to recognize her by the dark shade appearance throughout their entire body. She's in fact using a friend's body. Be careful, and please don't kill them. I'll explain to those out of the loop when I can make it over, I'm just tryin' to warn people to get away from this tree's influence. Something I'm unsure is even The Ring's doing. Focus on whatever's keeping that thing up."
She was worried this would get sticky quick.

Mollau was working in a small village in the isles. He had been doing his usual duties of stopping in and trading for supplies in exchange for light healing services when there was a fierce tremor along the ground. He had nearly fallen over when the first rumble passed across the land. He caught himself, and looked up as the sky became an unnatural and terrifying dark shade. He couldn't remember when was the last time he had seen the sky like this before. And he was an old man according to some...

"By Porunga..." Mollau murmured softly under his breath...

The youngling who's illness he had been treating with a special tea cried out in terror and reached for Mollau. The elder clasped the youngling to him in a desperate attempt to offer what protection he could from a threat neither of them understood.

Terror squeezed at his heart when he felt the unnatural sense of energy twisting around. It was wrong. It was so wrong it made him feel as if his very soul was being touched by something disgusting and profane. The tainted essence tried to smear it's self over him. Tried to seep into the cracks and crevice's of his will and to mingle in his soul.

Mollau closed his eyes and called forth every spark of will power he had. A century and more of life experience shaped who he was, and he used it now as a shield and protection from this twisting and changing entity. He could feel it try to work it's way into him, and he resisted.

But others did not have the same amount of life experience and will to protect them...

"Healer! Help! Hellghkarrghh!!!!!" another Namekian, the one who had been the youngling's caretaker, reached for Mollau in terror, but then the caretaker's arm suddenly split into three long strips. The flesh warped and twisted. Barbs grew from the tendrils, and the transformation traveled up the caretaker's arm, twisting and turning as it went. The healthy green flesh turned black, and spiny. Almost chitinous like a beetle's. Limbs snapped and split in mutated ways.

The malignant energy he felt... It was difficult -- no, impossible -- to describe. How could words hope to capture what was happening in front of him now? It was so beyond anything that he had experienced, beyond anything he could understand.

All Mollau could do was clasp the youngling close to him, his face buried in Mollau's chest while he tried to simultaneously shield the youngling from the thing, and cover his ears from the noise. If this thing put daggers of fear and horror into his soul, there was no telling what beholding it would do to the young Namekian.

He would never be innocent again. Not after coming in contact with this thing. But Mollau could protect what fragile sanity the little one had left, even as he felt his own slip dangerously from his grip. This thing, this thing that had once been the child's caretaker, was now twisted into a form so incomprehensible that there was almost no trace of the original Namekian. Perhaps the only blessing left.

Mollau felt the form in his arms tremble and shake, and Mollau bent his head and whispered fiercely, "Do not look, little one. I have you. It's alright. Do not look."

But the youngling's trembling didn't cease. Instead it grew worse. The little namekian seemed to writhe in his arms...

Mollau pulled back in horror as the small being let out a twisted shriek from a mouth that was little more than a gaping maw that took up it's entire face. Eyes, nose, antena, everything else was gone. Only that single maw with it's concentric ring of teeth.

Mollau fell back in horror when the thing that had once been a Namekian child tried to snap at his face. The thing's spine snapped and it folded in half to land on all four limbs the wrong way, its belly to the sky instead of it's back. As tears spilled past Mollau's cheeks a familiar voice tingled in his mind. It was fiery and warm, like the 3rd Namekian sun that was hidden from him now.

It was the voice of the Earth Kami, Jackie. The one who had come to warn them. Was this what she had tried to prevent? Was the ancient enemy she had told them about the cause of this? 

Having Jackie's mental voice pierce the bubbling madness gave Mollau the strength to pull away from the twisted forms of his once-brethren. He burst from the small dome house he had been in and took to the skies, looking down at the remnants of the village and it's former people. He shook his head in a mix of sorrow and horror. He had to do something. But he couldn't heal them. Not while this... malevolence was tainting the very spirit of Namek and it's people.

Jackie. Jackie knew more.

"I'm so sorry, young one..." Mollau whispered looking back at the twisted form of the once child as it scuttled from the house...

He turned and looked towards the distance where he could see the two giant trees and feel the source of evil. The elder namekian didn't know what good he could do. But he had to do something. Anything to put a stop to this... Mollau summoned all his strength flew at a breakneck speed towards the two trees.

One was clearly the source of the malady plaguing Namek. The other, while not being necessarily a cure, was definitely at least soothing the symptoms of the disease. Mollau felt relieved just seeing it stand in defiance of the evil tree's might. But he was still a long ways from reassured.
 
When Mollau approached the scene he could see several different figures. Almost all of them foreign to him. But a few familiar.

All of them dwarfed him in terms of power...

Mollau felt the sweat bead on his brow only to be blown back by wind pressure across his bald pate. He stopped short of the gathering, floating in the air anxiously, realizing just how horribly in over his head he was...

BOOM

There was a beam of light and it seared across the sky, slamming into Elder Namek's surface. But this wasn't a destructive beam. This was a healing one. Much like his or Surgeon's Scalpel, this beam cut away at the contagion twisting the very air and land. Where it touched, a semblance of order returned. People and animals that had been lost just minutes ago were returning.

Mollau felt his tears fall from his eyes again, but for the opposite reason. Hope bloomed in him with each person returned to their original form. He thought back to the youngling and their caretaker... they can be healed! 

There was another beam of light and a new figure stood amongst the others. This being was not Namekian but there was something about them that felt... Mollau knew them to be kin. Whoever this person was, they were Namekian in soul if not in blood. This was someone he knew to be trusted. He didn't know how he knew... but he did...

Seeing this change in events filled Mollau with just enough strength to finally land. But he still stayed apart from the clash of powers. Instead he landed amongst the confused civilians, returned from their mutated state. He started by organizing those he could to keep some semblance of order while the titanic powers above them clashed for the fate of all their lives.
