The 1023 Earth Elections
Selection & Voting Process
Two years have passed since the election of the Earth's President, Derry . The past two years have brought a number of surprises, from new legislation such as the Central City Accords and East City Accords, as well as the further entry of Earth into galactic politics. Tensions throughout the stars continue to be high, and the coming elections will determine which path Earth will take through this difficult time. Election week is scheduled from October 13th to October 20th, with the next term beginning exactly two years since Derry's victory.
In order to run, candidates must first pass a preliminary election. So, get your names in, set up your campaigns, and hope to avoid scandal for as long as you can! Please remember, this is just for fun! Don’t bring real-life politics and such into this. Keep everything grounded firmly and fitting within the realm of Dragon Ball.
How it Will Work
The first step in the election process will be for candidates to submit applications. A handful, anywhere from two to four candidates will be chosen from this group based on eligibility and plot developments, as well as on consistency and community presence via private staff pick. It should be noted that any staff members who put their character up for candidacy forfeit their say in the selection process. Once selected, these candidates are considered as having passed a primary round of elections, and are entered into the general election that will be determined by none other than you, the players! When players submit their vote, they select two candidates. Their primary vote, as well as their second-choice. The primary vote will award two points, while the second-choice selection of one point is intended to prevent a tie between the two leading candidates. However, votes are in-character. Your votes will be submitted to a future thread where upon you will explain your character’s motive for choosing their particular leader-of-choice. Though there isn’t likely to be any trouble from this, staff retain the right to invalidate votes that are deemed to be the result of OOC corruption. When the smoke clears, the one with the most votes will be the new President!
