It was time. Time for the Heran to prove to himself that he could still be a killer. How many years now since he had turned to the path of light? The last few seemed to blur together; a miasma of mediocrity. But there were little else to blame but himself for that failure. It was him that decided to abandon his home rather than face his fate, and it was him that decided to travel to Earth rather than harden himself some place else; living on Earth was like trying to sharpen a sword with silk.
It was only now that he saw the truth, saw how he had it all wrong before. His way of life was pushing him away from where he needed to be. This would be his ultimate test; a chance at redemption. For too long he toiled away in life, without true direction or destination, and where did it bring him? His failure against Kamae rang in his head over and over again; what a farce that had been. But his failures didn’t begin there; the bodach of the lookout ruins had painted a clear enough picture for him. The day he decided to aid the weak was the day he joined them.
It came time to put that decision behind him, to embrace all that being a Heran truly meant. His proving grounds would be East City; not the most populous or luxurious city of Earth, but it had enough to count. Being so close to his home meant it held a special place for him. That’s why it needed to go. It was his tether to this world, and to this life that was soon to be discarded. It wasn’t a clean city like Central City was, not was it technologically advanced like West City. It represented the worse that Earth had to offer, and thus it would be a cleansing for them both. Through the fires of his destruction the city could be reborn, and so to would Fukushu rise from the ashes.
It wouldn’t have to be cruel, in fact he’d make a measure to avoid that. A swift end to the rancid pit of debauchery was better than they deserved, but he wouldn’t want to stick around for long. Earth had it’s share of defenders; as soon as this all started they’d be made aware of the destruction through one way or another. He wasn’t afraid to fight any of them, but better them come after his rebirth than interfere with it; they'll get there's either way.
Looking down from the sky he could see friends greeting each other, people arriving for work, and even an attempted mugging thwarted by one of the city’s many home-made heroes. That would have been him, a long time ago. Rising ever higher made things easier for him. Up there they were dots; nothing more or less to him. At this point he began to gather his energy. It would become quickly apparent to those capable of sensing energy that something was going on by now, for he likely had more power than anyone else on the planet at his peak, but once they felt it’s true enormity they’d likely flee before facing him.
To those without that gift it’d be chaos and confusion, at least in the beginning, as they witnessed their friends’ flight. Then he would see to end that. It would take more than a single strike to destroy the city; even he was not capable of that sort of power. Once he had pooled a sufficient amount of power he channeled it through his body and into his arm, forming a cerulean saber which penetrated the skies from one end of the city to the other; there was no hiding his intent now. With one swift slash he plunged his sword into the heart of the city, destroying any and all in it’s path.
