Yogu had done his fair share of thinking since his return to Earth several months ago. Well, a fair share of running too. You don't just steal some luxury spacecraft and crash it into some desert planet without consequence. But these past few months of wandering from place to place, avoiding arrest for the litany of crimes he's committed, have helped him get to the crux of his problem. No, it was not the wanton violence or anger issues! He was directionless. And the one time he wasn't was doing martial arts as a kid. Punches, kicks, laser beams from the hand— Yeah, that was his shit. He needed to accept it and focus on it. And he finally got his opportunity to take it back up when he rolled into Papaya Island!

He'd tried to start martial arts again kais know how many times; the most recent were when some significant event happened in his life. Meeting a shinjin, that attempt sputtered out quick. Getting left in charge of Diono's, that one was just boredom. After Battle Island, well, that attempt never even got started.

This time would be different! "Fourth time's the charm!" You know, the saying that everyone says.

That brings us to the present, with Yogu on a smoke break crouched down in some shady corner of the grounds. He's watching some novices in the grass around the arena stage slugging it out, decidedly bored. Lifting weights and punching a wall wasn't his thing. But a fight, a real one, that's what he was really searching for. He wanted to rewind time back to Battle Island. Back to when he was slugging it out and thinking his life was on the line! Ain't that just screwed up?

His attention is immediately on the Majin when he drops into the grounds, smack dab in the middle of the arena stage. Some dude flying into the grounds was the most exciting thing to happen here in days! It didn't take long for the situation to take a turn for the strange when a voice popped into Yogu's head! The mind message struck Yogu as weird and confusing. Well, there was no way it wasn't the guy that just flew in here, he seems all about weird and confusing! In the end, all Yogu got from it in that pea-brain of his was that he should walk up for some strong-guy smackdown! Yogu leaves his comfortable shady spot in the grass and wanders to the center arena. He walks while he talks, marching across the arena stage to Megis. A chewed-up cigarette loosely hangs from his mouth, and he speaks in a slow, bored drawl.

"YO! Didn't really get your whole we come in peace spiel, but if you're lookin' to spar, then I'm always down to kick some ass." He pauses for a moment. "That was you bouncin' around in my head, right—that wasn't like a coincidence or somethin'?"

"Telepathy, huh? Neat. Real comic book-y." Now that he was up and close, Yogu had a good sizing up of his future opponent. The guy was a shrimp! Usually, fighting such a tiny guy would give Yogu second thoughts. But after all his journeys, he knew better. It was the tiny and calm ones you had to watch out for, they were serious in fights. Guys like Mr. President here were phased by nothing.

Yogu paces back and forth, doing windmills with his arms while Megis speaks. There was some comfort in the guy being adamant about it being training. With the kid's luck, he assumed the Majin would try to kill him if he started winning. A sly smile dances across his face for a moment in reaction to the warning about getting hurt. "Come on, whaddya take me for? One of those guys?" He jabs a thumb over his shoulder to all of the grunts sparring in the grass, a good number of them looking their way now. If you ignore the fact that most of those out on the grass have better win-loss ratios than him, one might get the impression Yogu was hiding his true strength.

While Megis does his bow, Yogu flicks his cigarette away and chews off a hangnail, "Alright, so we doin' this or wha- AHHH!" Why was there a disembodied head flying at him? The head collides dead center in his chest, and the wind gets knocked out of him. Yogu feels like he's moving in slow-motion, tumbling back while trying to process what he just witnessed. He comes to a rolling stop face down by the arena's edge. In a second, he's popped back to his feet and is running to try to punt the head back at the Majin before it dissipates, gets reabsorbed, or whatever it is heads made of goop do.

Yogu finally gets air in his lungs again and is able to gasp out a "Cheap shot..." at Megis. How the hell are you supposed to watch out for someone that can throw their head at you? "Hey! You try that again and you're not getting your head back!" His only real idea was to take the guy by surprise, a trick that he was pretty sure had never worked once. But in times like these, the best thing is to double down and stick with what you know no matter what the universe tells you!

Yogu's energy flips like a light switch to ten times what it once was. He propels forward, stopping on a dime parallel with Megis with his arm cocked back for a ki gut punch! He lets it fly, trying to knock the wind out of the telepathic rubber boy!

Watching that chatterbox head knock the headless wonder off its' feet was so satisfying. "Not much of a technique if its got as bad of a downside as leaving your body directionless!" Now Yogu wasn't sure if he should take his mysterious majin foe seriously or not. At least the guy got the idea now; Yogu wasn't just some big shot who talked tough. Okay, he was, but he was also no slouch in a fight. "Buddy, you ain't seen nothin' yet."

His fist connects with ease, and he doesn't hold back. It looks like his fist is about to punch right through Megis when it all goes wrong. Of course, his landing a good hit couldn't be without consequence. Yogu's triumphant face turns to shock and terror as the goo guy wraps himself around his arm. "AHHHH!!!" He screams as he runs around the arena in a circle, flailing the arm around as the majin constricts tighter and tighter. He tries to pry Megis off with his fingers while the locked-up arm gets all fuzzy. He starts slamming his arm into the arena floor when it goes numb. "Getoff!getoff!getoff!getOFF! GET! OFF! ME!"

Suddenly his own arm reared back and punched him in the face! "BLAGH!" He shouts as he's knocked clear off his feet. And there it goes again! Another haymaker to the face! "So that's what that feels like... My fists are shaaaarp..." He shakes it off and wraps his arm and legs around the rebelling limb. "ALRIGHT! THAT IS IT! Enough of these crummy tricks! Fight me like a real warrior!" He wasn't much of a real warrior himself, but still!

Yogu tries everything! Peeling Megis off with his shoes, biting, giving him the 'ol one-two ki blast! "Ya gotta give up eventually!" Preferably before Yogu lost his arm.

Finally, the grip on his arm weakens after he digs his digits into the guy's face. "Guess I managed to hit a weak spot! Heh heh..." He really thought he was about to lose the arm there. There was a problem, though. A slight one. How was he supposed to fight his opponent if they were a literal puddle on the floor? Yogu leans over the spilled milkshake, "D-Did I kill him?" The puddle wills a new face into existence, and Yogu jumps back with a scream. He would not be getting used to that.

A puddle was complimenting him. What was it like to be a puddle? "Focus!" Yogu reminds himself. He kicks some rubble across the stage and starts circling the pink puddle. It starts talking about how the Earth needs 'warriors' like Yogu here, "Listen buddy, I have no clue what you're goin' on about but Earth doesn't need any more screwups and bums like me!"  He was a criminal on the run! If the cops wanted to lock him up, didn't that mean Earth wanted nothin' to do with him? Not to mention the last time he tried playing hero to help his ex-friend at Battle Island. "Marrow... Where the hell did you end up?" Nowhere good if she kept on that path she went on. Then there was Russ. Did he die that day? His reminiscing on his mess-ups would have to wait, he was getting jumped!

Over his own thoughts, he hears something about 'sauce', gets hungry, then his legs get wrapped up in sentient puddle! "Hey! Cut it out already with this cheap crap, man!" But his goal was not to annoy Yogu but to keep him locked right where he was!

"Huh?"

Yogu cranes his head to spot two disembodied fists in the sky, raining down on him! He could feel the energy radiating off them. These things were gonna hurt. "Good thing my feet are already planted." If anything, Megis was helping his footwork, keeping it far more straight and balanced than usual. "Looks like it's time for 'ol reliable!"

Yogu cups his hands and brings them to his side, taking a deep breath in. "Alright, you little bastard. You want sauce?! I'll give you sauce!" His energy begins to rise again. "Kame..." A tiny orb of crackling blue energy begins to pull together in his palms. "Hame..." Yogu closes his eyes and focuses entirely on putting as much 'sauce' in this as possible. "Become the sauce..." He whispers to no one. His energy finally reaches its' absolute ceiling as the fists whistle through the sky toward him. He remains calm under this pressure, and his energy barely ekes out past that ceiling he pictured in his mind's eye. "HA!" Just before the fists collide with soft, supple Yogu face meat, his arms shoot out, and a crackling blue beam fires from his hands!

If successful, Yogu's left huffing and puffing with his arms sagging at his sides in the aftermath. "H-Hey! I'm still on my feet! WAHOO!"

Yogu uses Medium Attack || Kamehameha to overpower Volleyball Spike! Using 2 MP to increase it's damage by 10%. MAX Power adds an additional 10%. The damage is 120,000 (80%)! This technique has the HOMING variant.
It clashes with Volleyball Spike and overpowers it! BLEEDTHROUGH damage is 92,000!

Well, Yogu was pooped. Dead tired. Still, he was pumped about the attack landing! He was getting good at that! He was whooping it up and jumping up and down until the thought crossed him that he just blew up a significant portion of that guy. It wasn't flesh and bone, but it had to be serious. And it sure looked like it from the state of the poor guy across the stage.

Finally free from his gooey prison, Yogu pops a squat and takes a few breaths while he watches the Majin pull himself together, again literally. He garbles out something about how it'll take days to get back what Yogu had just destroyed. Yogu pops to his feet, "Tsk, tsk, tsk. What was that ya said before, 'If ya get hurt, then I expect ya to understand it ain't my problem'?" Close enough.

Yogu's energy has calmed back to normal when the guy sits up and— asks his opponent for help?! Well, Yogu had done that in prior fights too, and helping the guy was the sportsmanlike thing. So he shrugs, "Yeah, sure, squirt. Why not?" It was a pretty good shot. He puts his hands in his pockets and saunters over. His help is rejected; instead, he's smacked right in the face! A loud, sharp impact echoes across the tournament grounds, and Yogu is sent rolling over himself, howling in pain all along the way. When he gets on his feet again a print like one of those sticky hand toys is left on his swollen, red cheek.

"You little...! Alright, that is IT!" He shouts, like he's going to do something. But he was way too tired to even pretend anymore. With a sigh, he drops to the ground sitting cross-legged. Rubbing his raw cheek he talks, "So, you gonna explain to me why you're here fightin' guys in terms I can understand?" All that hoohah about forces and threats, and then you throw in FUTURE threats? That just gets Yogu's ears ringing.

Yogu remains on edge, watching the Majin get on his feet and walk over. That edge dulls as Megis goes on and on about all the threats out there. He was able to follow it well this time; Derry was the prez, though why the president should personally be getting involved, Yogu didn't have a clue. Wasn't he just the guy that made laws happen, or was that what a lawyer was? Yogu's poor understanding of what a president is aside, there was this 'guardian' that Yogu also knew practically nothing about. "Like, Kami?" That's just the person you pray to when you want to win the lottery!

There was one thing Yogu did get for sure: if aliens were attacking, we needed to prepare to defend ourselves. Though protecting the Earth? That was a lot of stuff to protect! "I dunno, the army? It probably shouldn't be some meatheads slugging it out in a wasteland." Now the guy was going on about that future president stuff again! The elections were coming up, was this guy really going to be on the ballot? The pint-sized gooball that likes throwing his own head at people? "Psh, you're a unique guy. I'll give ya that."

Yogu gets back up to his feet, his breather now over. "Listen, I don't mean to offend, but do ya really think you got a shot at winning? The president thing, not the fight. You're not exactly the most charismatic fella." Creepy was more like it. "The whole keepin' the planet safe thing is real noble and all, but I'm speaking from experience here when I say all you're gonna do is screw your life up. And whoever else you conscript into your team of warriors. And then you'll have that weighin' on ya your whole life. Then ya realize you weren't bein' noble. Just selfish. And dumb. Lots of both." It would seem Megis would find no heroic warrior in the rebellious little twerp that was Yogu. Hell, a couple months ago he probably would've been all for it.

"I'm all for keepin' sharp, though, so we can keep brawlin' if you want another butt whooping."

Yogu kinda gets it but not really, and also shares some wisdom.

Uh oh, this guy was getting heated. Yogu truly hadn't meant to offend; he just felt that a guy like this would have trouble getting the public on his side. But no, apparently, this guy was oozing charisma with his disembodied limbs and strange demeanor. Yogu knew he had already crossed some point of no return to get dogpiled with crazy, so why not get this guy going and pile more on? "Nobody's around who's better than you? Buddy, I'm some gym rat, and I just lasered you in half." But oooh, that Majin just touched a sore spot.

Yogu, a coward? A loser? An insignificant speck who should go back to being chained up in some crummy warehouse? Okay, Megis didn't say that last part. But still, Yogu was pissed! He might as well have had steam coming out of his ears himself! "Listen here, Shrimpy! I've never run from a fight! Not once! Even when I thought- knew- I was gonna die, I kept on goin'! You're no hero! Heroes don't conquer! You're just like that Derry guy, just some- some MONSTER wanting to take as much power as ya can and use it on people you don't like! Or somethin'!" He wasn't being entirely truthful. He'd run plenty of times and from plenty of things. Even at Battle Island he had tried to run, only to stumble back into things.

He was a coward. He knew it. Even this guy who just met him knew it. Yogu felt like he was drowning now.

Oh yeah, he was in a fight! He focuses up just in time to witness that he is about to get eaten by this freaky goo monster. The most he could get out in reaction was a "WHAT THE FUCK?!" and then everything went dark.

Well, that was it. Curtain call on Yogu. He was dead, a snack for some politician. He always knew he'd go out that way. But the end had not come yet. While his energy was getting eaten away bit by bit, something woke up from deep within the loser coward bum.

"What the hell did you do this time?"

It was a voice that felt like it came from his chest. He'd heard it before. It was that gravelly inhuman voice that gave him goosebumps. "Are you my heart?"

"Huh? No. That's stupid. Can you get up now, moron? We're going to die."

"But it's too haaaaard." That voice coming from what Yogu was pretty sure was his heart sighed.

"Well, I don't wanna die, so I'm making you get up! RIGHT NOW! QUIT BEING A LOSER!"

Megis would feel something shift in Yogu's energy. It was like a door just got cracked open with a crowbar. Yogu's energy triples like before and then steadily rises past that previous limit! The tournament stage begins to rumble...


The 'Ol Reliable comes out again, and Yogu's newfound strength surges outward to blow a hole straight out of his Majin captor! And when he escapes his prison, he looks a little different—a little taller, a little more muscular. His pointy space elf ears were longer and just that much more pointier. And his aura took on this deep orange hue, like a setting sun.


Megis beat him to hell, and he felt like he was going to pass out. But only cowards would bow out now! Noticeably, his energy didn't go back down even after all that. Maybe there was more fight in Yogu than he gave himself credit for. Maybe his words could be true.
