Floating within the cascade, steadily maintaining the flow of water around them, the demon took a few deep breaths. After being thrashed into the ground, even their specialty of vicious taunting took the air from them. It seemed to work at least. Imugi bore a slasher’s smile right back at the Saiyan, seeing the blood they had cost him and the rise to their provocation. Much as they would like to relish in his pain further, they pulled their eye away from the giant primate and scanned the battlefield. Zoki was a wily, confusing creature that very well could have escaped notice if circumstances allowed. All the same, nestled into a collection of rubble, there he was.
Returning Edamame his due attention, Imugi sneered at the soldier’s professed bloodthirst. This one didn’t have a care in the world for the Tuffles he shared it with. A killer beast that couldn’t see his leash for what it was. How bitterly familiar. “You are so very young,” Imugi called up to the Saiyan, almost wistful. Yet the vitriol was not gone for long. “But already your life is tainted and miserable. It brings a weary soul some peace to know that I won’t be ending anything worthwhile.”
Shifting their posture, Imugi’s sword rose to meet Edamame’s challenge. Throwing his immensity at the ground splattered the demon’s magical waterfall, annoying them before the attack even reached. Once it would have been a laughable attempt to hurt Imugi with stone and metal, but that was the past. In the present, they put their sword forward and cleaved at the incoming debris, blade whistling through the air before pointed by the crack of the edge against hard material.
“Make no mistake, I will do you the courtesy to remember your name! So that I might mock it!” Imugi cackled over their defense, descending back into the pool of water up to their knee. With direct contact, their influence could take hold just that bit easier, which certainly counted when they were being assailed by a massive monkey. At the end of one arcing swing, a gulf tore into the pond up to the edge. Right in Zoki’s direction, a wave crested the crater and held its form for a moment. Subtly twisting into the shape of a hand, it ‘gestured’ at the overgrown insect before collapsing, spraying some water harmlessly at him.
The modicum of concentration they’d put towards that little trick was a bit too much. Imugi reacted just a hair too slowly to one of the projectiles, and a boulder shattered against them. To some, hardly a bother, but the frail figure grunted in clearly audible pain at the impact. Still they stood, flourishing their sword and rising right back into the air. “You and your clan will be forgotten, you know! You’ll be but another bloodstain on a wall painted red, that is the service to which you have dedicated yourself to! That is the reward for prostrating yourself at the feet of kings!”
