Gandigan had found himself within a stroke of luck recently... outside of being killed. As unfortunate as it was to be stuck in the Afterlife there was something odd he had observed over the past few days. There appeared to be some sort of rift going on that had parts of the mortal realm seep into their dimension. Unfortunately there didn't seem to be any way for him to cross over to the other side (and plenty of other unfortunate souls had already tried and failed) but there was a chance he could perhaps pull something or someone over.
Gandigan had been unable to communicate to anyone back on Namek while in Hell. Despite training his telepathy heavily before his death it seemed that sending messages between dimensions was something he was simply incapable of doing. Not knowing when these rifts between dimensions might come to an end, Gandigan couldn't afford to miss out on this opportunity to speak to those on Namek and make sure that they got his warning.
Right now he had no idea what was going on back home. Had the others even heard the message? Were they preparing for Lottus at all? The Saiyan was coming, and they had to be ready. So the former Mazoku lord set off looking for another rift that connected to Namek, and when he finally found one he got as close as he could and tried to speak into it. "Hello? Can anyone here me? Is anyone out there? It's Gandigan here!"
The planar rift was made of swirls of energy that coalesced into a mirror of some kind, a bridge allowing Gandigan to get a glimpse at his home planet. What he saw was a very familiar figure, a silhouette belonging to a winged Namekian whose womanly figure was draped in a billowing cape. Gandigan assuredly recognized Cabasa, one of his fiercest subjects second only to Marimba in strength. Her power had grown a fair bit since their altercation prior to his fight with Lottus.
What was probably the most noteworthy about the vista, however, wasn't Cabasa herself or her energy signature, but rather the place where she was nonchalantly sauntering to: A small village visible in the distance and surrounded by the biome of the Dragon Isles. If Gandigan visited the place before, he could have figured out that this aforementioned settlement was none other than the Grand Elder Village. What in Poruga was Cabasa planning to do over there? Could it be any good? She certainly wasn't foolish enough to cross the Guru, especially after acknowledging his might herself in front of Gandigan, but her unpredictable nature was always a source of concern.
As she approached the outskirts of the village, a familiar voice beckoned Cabasa. "G-GANDIGAN?!?!?" Was it an hallucination, her mind playing tricks on her due to her last feeding on life ambrosia being a few days ago? No, Cabasa knew it wasn't the case when she looked over her shoulder to witness a rift, a tear in reality allowing her to see her liege. "MY LIEGE!" Cabasa was wide-eyed, the surprise and excitement she felt bleeding into her tone. If it wasn't from her frowning leer, Gandigan could have almost said that she was happy to see him.
"What is going on? Aren't you supposed to be dead?" Cabasa had many, many questions for Gandigan, but these were the ones weighing the heaviest on her mind. With careful steps, she approached the portal, reaching out towards it with a clawed hand...

Cabasa hadn't been the one that Gandigan was hoping to see, but desperate times called for desperate measures. If this was the only way that Gandigan was going to be able to communicate with Namek he was just going to have to take it. He couldn't say what it was Cabasa might be doing here... hopefully it was following his orders to get close with the Guru, though Nero was no where to be seen. Maybe the two had scheduled some training with each other?
As he called out he was pleasantly surprised to see that Cabasa did react, though knowing that the rift could potentially close at any second he was more interested in finding a way to get Cabasa over than simply yelling into the void. "I am Dead. What you see behind me is the Afterlife, or at least one part of it. I have been judged by Yemma and sent into the depths of Hell, and now I search for a way out." His search hadn't been very successful so far. Outside of these rifts in the dimensions there weren't any other promising paths for him.
As Cabasa would begin to approach the rift Gandigan saw his opportunity. He waited until the Mazoku got close then attempted to force his own arms through. There was a clear effort by the void to keep things on his side where they belonged, but with his strength he was able to get his arms through for just long enough to grab a hold of Cabasa and pull.
Cabasa got the confirmation: Gandigan was really dead. This... wasn't how Cabasa envisioned the Afterlife. Instead of being a hapless soul stuck in an eternal void of torment, Gandigan still looked like he was in his prime, standing with a healthy body in an environment that could have easily been confused for the terrain of an alien world. Was this really what the fabled Hell looked like? Honestly, it didn't seem as bad as what the stories made it out to be.
"Yemma?" It was obvious that Cabasa wouldn't know about the giant ogre of judgment, but the part that really piqued her unspoken curiosity was how Gandigan confidently spoke of "escaping' the Afterlife, almost as if he was certain that such a feat was achievable. Before the winged Mazoku had the time to inquire further, she was forcefully dragged into the portal by the Daimyo. "?!?!?" The brisk motion took her by surprise, making it impossible for Cabasa to struggle against Gandigan's might. Instead, she fell face-first in the dirt, now lying between her king's feet.
A deep, cavernous growl was audible from the teal Mazoku, indicating that she wasn't too pleased by the presumed prank that Gandigan pulled on her. With a hectic flapping of her wings, she straightened her figure now hovering a few centimeters above the ground, baring the purple blush spreading just above her gnashed fangs and her clenched fists moving with a noticeable quiver. "WHAT WAS THAT JUST NOW?!? YOU COULD HAVE ASKED ME BEFORE YANKING ME IN YOUR STUPID QUAND-" Her anger faded away for a moment, almost as if she realized something. Quickly, she looked behind her shoulder, only to witness with horror how the portal behind herself had already vanished.
"Urgh..." With a resigned sigh, she pinched the location where the bridge of her nose should have been. "Alright. So, uh..." She just had to roll with this new development, so might as well ask her questions. "Ok, so, I need to know more about this Lottus, especially if he has allies. Me and Marimba have been training hard for his presumed assault on Namek, but I am unsure we can take him on, even if Nero is on our side... After all, he defeated you and, without meaning disrespect to our Guru, your might far eclipses his." Cabasa crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing with a squint of skepticism. "You also seem an awful lot confident about your odds of escaping Hell. Is this hopeful thought a conjecture or is there anything more to it?" Hopefully, it was the latter.

Gandigan figured Cabasa would be upset about being dragged through the void, but he didn't much care. The rift could have closed at any moment now, and he needed to make sure there was enough time for them to talk. Indeed the portal would close just a few moments after he pulled Cabasa through, but he was sure that another one would sprout up somewhere else that could take the Mazoku back; they were popping up all over Hell these past few days with no end in sight.
"I may be dead but until a new King is crowned you can still consider me to be your liege. You will speak with me with respect or else I shall make sure you reside her permanently." Gandigan wasn't in the mood for an argument, but he did feel a bit better when Cabasa explained all that it knew. Obviously his message must have been heard for the Mazoku to know all that it spoke of, though what about the others?
"Lottus doesn't have any allies that I know of. He likes to fight alone, and anyone weaker than him would just get in the way of that." They had been training? Good. "I can sense that your strength has improved since the last time we battled. What about Marimba? Tell me what has come of his power. And Nero? Has he been training too?" Without Nero's abilities on their side Namek would stand no chance at all against Lottus. "I'll be blunt with you: Even with yourself, Marimba, Gira and Nero you would probably still lose to Lottus right now, which is exactly why you need to keep training."
The matter of escape was something that Gandigan was very sure of. "Lottus got sent to Hell as well, and he managed to find a way out. If he can do it then so can I."
Gandigan's quip didn't impress Cabasa. For all that mattered, their relationship didn't change one bit since Gandigan's passing. Cabasa has simply been training, honing her strength with the hopes of defending Namek against invaders and perhaps securing a higher position in the Mazoku military. "Aye. I never questioned your authority, my liege." She tried her hardest not to roll her eyes, which caused a bulging vein of frustration to appear across her forehead. "Simply the fact that you decided to drag me when you could have stepped out from the portal." Indeed, why didn't he do this? Gandigan was an intelligent, cunning individual; this didn't make any sense. "Unless you were unable to truly jump out entirely. In that case, I understand your decision completely." This was the only logical explanation possible.
At any rate, Cabasa wouldn't question Gandigan further, instead deciding to talk about Lottus' modus operandi. "A lone wolf, uh? If this remains true, then we have one crucial advantage over him. We will move as a pack and overwhelm him. Even if he were to target the smaller moving parts of the engine to slow it down, it would come at a cost of energy expenditure, leaving him open for heavyweight warriors... unless his strength is THAT immense, of course." Cabasa didn't believe that Lottus was so much beyond Gandigan's strength. After all, why would the Mazoku venture out on his own to challenge him if he didn't think he at least had a sliver of chance at victory? Gandigan wasn't suicidal... was he? Mh, these were aspects of her king that she never pondered about; how far would he be ready to go, how much would he be willing to sacrifice for the sake of his ideals?
Gandigan wanted to know about Nero and Marimba's progress. She answered in earnest, giving him everything she knew. "Marimba and I have been training with the objective of shattering our limits. He is now wielder of a strength similar to Nero's, but this is only his resting energy signature. As for the Guru, I sadly haven't felt any fluctuations in his energy level. Before summoned in here, I was actually heading toward his place to train and discuss about the history of my clan to see if any information about them prior to the schism survived." Cabasa didn't really count on Nero's cooperation, but it was the only way she could think of initiating a dialogue with the insufferable paragon of virtue that he was.
Cabasa blinked slowly, parsing the reality they were facing with the Afterlife and the ramifications for people like Lottus. "I see... then maybe it would be better to find another way to get rid of him if he's just going to come back to life." Cabasa scratched her chin, muddling over her thoughts before continuing. "Perhaps we could devise a ritual of some kind with Dragon Clan Namekians to seal his power or bind him somewhere out of time." Could Dragon Clan Namekians even do that with their magic? This... wasn't guaranteed. "My Clan was ripe with mighty Dragon Clan warlocks proficient in the dark arts. While most of their knowledge is lost, I suspect that their sorceries are what created me. After all, I am very unlike them, but I have all of their collective memories, or at least fragments of them sporadically resurfacing." The implications of this were... exceptionally grim. Maybe Cabasa's existence was a testimony of the risks inherent to dabbling in forbidden arcana?

"The portals seem to only work one way for the most part. It took pretty much all of the strength I had to reach through as I did, and if I had stuck in there any longer my arm would have been destroyed. If it were really that easy to escape Hell then I would have already done so." Gandigan believed there was high potential in these rifts, even if so far his attempts to get through had been mostly unsuccessful. He'd probably have to go out and look for someone who knew more about them.
"Keep up your efforts with Marimba and Nero. Trust me when I say that even your combined powers would falter against him, but Lottus isn't unbeatable. I came close to doing it myself; the defenders of Namek are close." Gandigan wanted very truly to believe those words, but the truth was that even now Lottus would be growing stronger too, and unlike with those on Namek Gandigan didn't have any way to access what new powers the Saiyan may have reached.
Cabasa's thoughts on how to deal with Lottus lined up with his own; something he had only come to realize when it was too late. "Aye. During my battle I came to realize that killing Lottus was unfortunately not a permanent means to get rid of him. I contemplated a few alternate methods, but obviously I didn't get to put any of them to use... tell me what you know about your clan and these sorceries? How much potential do you believe they have here?"
Cabasa's theory of Gandigan being unable to escape through these spontaneous rifts was confirmed by him. Now all there was left to do for her was to hope that another one of these would open soon enough and that it wouldn't bar her from exiting Hell. After all, she was technically still alive despite threading on the soil of the deceased, right? Better not to think too hard about it.
The encouraging words from Gandigan were appreciated, as shown by the small vainglorious smile growing at the edges of her lips. "Will do. We've been working hard and I intend on surpassing both Gira and Marimba to become a rival they may call worthy." This wasn't so far-fetched of an hypothetical reality, especially considering how close Cabasa was from Gira's current strength. So far, the teal Mazoku has shown a tremendous potential for growth and adaptation. It was both a good and a bad thing, depending on where Cabasa's loyalty truly lied at the end of the day.
Cabasa furrowed her brow; most of what she knew about her Clan's prowess was from fragmented memories and mural sculptures found in the ruins where she first woke up after saying her own name. There was a pause for a short moment, then she spoke up. "When I first woke up, I was surrounded by a ground littered with Namekian corpses, their skin blue like my own. I felt their blood rush to me, providing me with the knowledge on how to survive and leave the planet for the crib of our species. My homeplanet is a blasted hellhole that would make the First Scar look like a verdant hill." Slowly but surely, Cabasa was getting to the point while providing Gandigan information about her past, something they never really talked about. "Consequently, if the information I garnered from the slabs is correct, my clan was expert in these <<blood rituals>> involving the sacrifice of lifeforce to affect the balance of the world, staving off natural disasters and the passing of old age. Namekians of Namek are very respectful of the natural order, from what I could tell, which is probably why my kind left the planet eons ago."
Cabasa looked in the distance wistfully, both in search of portals and to muddle over her mixed feelings on the situation. "If some almost extinct Namekian splinter clan on a backwater world can stop earthquakes and freeze their knowledgeable elders in time, then there must exist something somewhere that can halt Lottus, whether it is on Namek or somewhere else in the galaxy. I don't mind breaking his skull under my boot, but repeat that process a thousand times and the ordeal must get pretty jarring." Cabasa hungered for fresh kills, the viscera and thrill of war, not the same old song being played a thousand times over.

Cabasa's knowledge of it's home world and people was limited. Apparently it had awoken amongst a pile of corpses, only gaining the basics of how to survive from their blood. Blood rituals and sacrifices weren't something that had Gandigan jumping for joy either, but in the case of Lottus he might be able to make an exception. He was hoping for something a little more tangible though when it came to a plan, but it seemed Cabasa had only the same as the Mazoku King: hope.
"Affecting words is easier than you think. I saw Lottus destroy an entire planet by himself. But I hope that this theory of yours can be fruitful for us later. With Nero's help you should be able to find something useful, but in the meantime you must keep up your training. Even if you do discover something I would imagine that you'll need the strength to at least defeat Lottus to pull it off, and if you find nothing then killing him at least buys us more time to think of something else."
He didn't think that Cabasa would want to stay here long, but there were a few requests he had to make before he would allow the Mazoku to leave. "There is another Mazoku I spoke of: Cello. He is an ally to us. You must seek him out and train with him also. I want you to look for Mollusc too; I don't know where he's gone, but he'll be useful in the fight against Lottus too. I want you to visit every Mazoku clan and give them the order to train for Lottus. They may end up all being called upon."
What should have come as total shock was received with a grim nod of acknowledgement from Cabasa. Indeed, during the brief interstice of time where she was allowed to delve into Gandigan's memories after drinking his blood, she saw flickering images of his clash against Lottus unfold in a theater of broken tectonic plates and churning inferno threatening to swallow all. "Agreed. Even if Nero's knowledge comes in handy, I shan't grow complacent." Besides, fighting was one of the few things that Cabasa found enjoyable, so convincing her of becoming better at that was easy as pie.
"Mh..." Gandigan dropped a few names that Cabasa wasn't familiar with. Cello? Mollusc? Were they even there at the coronation? The only Namekian aside from Gandigan and Marimba that Cabasa could recall was that Treses individual who made quite the dramatic entrance. This didn't mean she never saw them, but it was easy to lose faces amidst a rowdy crowd. There was also the fact that Cabasa didn't know about their energy signatures, so it didn't hurt to ask. "I shall find the two of them and challenge them to a spar. Do they have any defining characteristics? Is their energy signature similar to mine? Any info would make finding them easier. Could also ask Nero or Marimba, but I am unsure if they are familiar with these two."
Yes, mustering the clans and hardening the Mazoku population as a whole sounded like a splendid idea. Cabasa could already imagine her fists growing sore from ruthless days of teaching younglings how to properly track and slay a quarry. This being said, she wasn't the most affable of her kind and could see this go wrong in many ways. Luckily for them, Marimba was ripe with knowledge about the Mazoku and their traditions. "Speaking of Marimba, he shall be the first to be made aware of your wishes; I'd imagine he'll relay your messages to the clans much quicker than me. Regardless of this, I shall continue my journey toward noteworthy energy signatures and issue challenges; my focus will be to hone my strength with everything else achieved coming as a welcomed bonus."
It wasn't hard to see that the prospect of a greater foe to slay was exciting Cabasa and giving her a newfound sense of discipline. "Anything else or shall we continue the search for an escape?"
PL: 61,200 (Cabasa is in her Base form.) UT used: N/AKP: 6/6 - MP: 0/6 - HP: 000/250 Resources: Battle Wisdom, Regeneration, Trump Card, Vampiric
Defining characteristics? How would he fine Cello and Mollusc? "Cello is of the Mazoku. The easiest way to describe him would be the massive gauntlets he has for arms; they stick out from a mile away. They're a lighter green, while his chest is more dark like mine, and he usually wears a blue cloak around his waist. Mollusc is a warrior clansmen; I'm surprised you haven't seen him before. He stands out as where Namekians usually have pink patches around their body, his is a lighter green. Nero will know where he is, while Cello will seek you out I expect."
Gandigan had spoken to Cello on the others, but his plans were not known to Gandigan so he couldn't say for sure what the Mazoku was wanting to do. If everything went well then he expected all that he mentioned to find each other and train for Lottus, but since when did all go well? All he could do from Hell was to hope and pray to Porunga. He expected that the rifts would close soon, leaving him isolated from the others.
"Escape? Interesting in leaving so soon? You've said you've been training. I expect a demonstration of that strength before you go. I don't know when I'll get to see you or the others again, so make it count."
From the two Namekians who Gandigan advised Cabasa to meet, Mollusc was the one who retained the bulk of her attention. She had yet to meet with a Warrior Clansman, let alone clash with one. The way she depicted them in her head, she saw them as slightly more boring Mazokus; not as ferocious or unpredictable, but definitely disciplined. If this supposition was to be true, Cabasa was going to have a fine rival in Mollusc.
Cello was a Mazoku whose whereabouts were not currently known by anyone, which caused an issue; could she really afford to search for him with how Namek was a ticking time bomb waiting to be invaded? "Understood. Once I'm out of here, I shall ask Nero about Mollusc. I have middling hopes of finding Cello since Namek has quite its fair share of promising warriors, but I shall still question the Elders and Marimba about him."
Gandigan remarked how... impatient Cabasa was to leave Hell. Was this really surprising? Not in her mind. Still, despite the stupid question, the challenge who her Daimyo issued was implicitly accepted via a crooked grin and a crack of her neck. "Sure, let's dance a little before I have to go through Nero's sermons again." Meeting the Guru wasn't something that thrilled Cabasa, but she felt like it was needed given the desperate circumstances.
Cabasa tossed her cape away, baring her red gi and its flaming pattern that sprawled across a leg. Then, she allowed her power to spike to its maximum, an aura of purple energy flaring around her figure while her eyes became bloodshot with a screaming vermilion. "A LOVE LETTER TO YOU, MY KING; I TOOK INSPIRATION FROM YOUR SIGNATURE TECHNIQUE FOR THIS!" With her wings sprawled wide, Cabasa swiftly soared above Gandigan, threads of viridian ki swirling toward her open maw to coalesce as a small bead hovering between her dagger-like fangs.
The bead was let loose, its form growing and lancing forward into a massive energy wave that threatened to swallow Gandigan whole with a green glow that would assuredly leave a massive fuming crater where he stood.
PL: 61,200 -> 306,000 (Cabasa is in her Bloodlust form!)
"Don't worry about Cello; like I said I've already spoken to him and asked him to find others. As long as you're on Namek and allow your power to be sensed then he should find you himself, but that's good. The more warriors that come together the better the chances you have of stopping Lottus. I just hope that you lot can do better than I did. Don't underestimate Lottus; no matter how powerful you lot grow; as soon as you underestimate him the battle is lost."
The mistake that Gandigan had made. He believed his power had grown enough that he would be able to take on Lottus by himself. He was nearly right, just not quite. If the Saiyan had kept the same strength that he had when they encountered each other on Plant then Gandigan likely would have won, but just as he had the Saiyan had grown. Not quite as much as Gandigan had, but it was enough to secure the victory for Lottus.
But now was the time for a new battle, and Gandigan was eager to see what Cabasa had in store for him. The energy wave that would come from the Mazoku was shocking; he didn't Cabasa capable of such power, but he was glad to be proven wrong. Eager to test out the durability of this body that Hell had provided him, Gandigan would sit back and allow the attack to strike him unimpeded. The Namekian stood still and was quickly consumed.
Trapped within the storm, Gandigan found his body being ripped to shreds by the incoming blast. His body held up well, but now he was questioning whether or not this body was actually as durable as he thought it was. When the dust cleared away and the attack was over Gandigan lay on the floor, charred and bruised.
Slowly he would stand, and now that Cabasa had used up all of it's energy he was ready to strike back. "You've grown since the last time we've battled which is good... but I'd prefer if your strategy improved; you won't beat Lottus with power alone. You just used a significant amount of energy early and you failed to defeat me. What will you defend yourself with now." Raising his arm up, Gandigan would produced a blade of ki before firing a torrent of blades at Cabasa.
Another advice of Gandigan that Cabasa would need to remember about; Lottus was not to be underestimated under any circumstances, even if Namek found itself with the advantage in numbers. Was the legendary Super Saiyan really that powerful? Did someone as strong as him even need to resort to cheap tricks? Doing so would only increase the gap between him and his adversary, after all. These questions only made Cabasa grow uneasy. Instead of tormenting herself with what was to be, she focused on the present, her fight with Gandigan.
Cabasa's one-hit wonder of an attack made quite the effect, tearing Gandigan's body to shreds. For a moment, Cabasa thought that her nova strike caused a premature victory, but she couldn't be more wrong; her king counterattacked with a very familiar technique. A flurry of blades came for the teal Namekian, mirroring the wounds inflicted on Gandigan's body if a bit worse. Realizing she left herself open like an idiot, Cabasa cursed under her breath, spurts of blood escaping between her lips with a raspy cough.
"RAAAAAAAARGH!" Cabasa lowered her flight, landing in front of Gandigan with a loud thud mirroring her frustration. "WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS RIGHT?" This... wasn't necessarily what you would expect someone like Cabasa to say. Did she swallow her pride for once? Perhaps. "I have the ferocity and the strength, but I lack clarity, wisdom..." The winged demoness gritted her fangs and clenched her fists at her own impotence. "I know for a fact I am not worthless, but I'll never prevail over experienced opponents if I keep fighting like this. How many times have we clashed, Gandigan? This is the fourth time, no? Has anyone ever lost that often to you?" If it wasn't from the big toothy grin growing across her face, one could have almost believed that the teal Mazoku's confidence was dwindling.
"Let's try something different today, aye?" Cabasa resumed the fight by kicking up some sand at Gandigan's eyes, following up by dashing toward him to drive her elbow down his solar plexus before trying to make a hasty retreat with a strong flap of her wings. "I'll whittle you down one cheap, cunning blow at a time!"
PL: 61,200 -> 306,000 (Cabasa is in her Bloodlust form!)
As predicted, Gandigan's attack cut through Cabasa with ease. Gandigan could recall making the same mistake of expending all of his energy while the fight was still in it's early stages when he was younger, and meeting a similar outcome as Cabasa just had. Gandigan had actually feared that he might have ended the battle right then and there by mistake, but thankfully Cabasa still stood. Their prior battle had been one for Gandigan, so that he could gain as much strength as possible before his fight with Lottus, but this one was for Cabasa.
The Mazoku would have to learn as much as it could from Gandigan in the short time they had left. If Gandigan failed to find a way out of Hell then this would be the last time they ever spoke to each other, and even if he did find a way out it could still be years down the line. What more could he impart? What was left to be accomplished in the time they had left?
"You have a short memory, Cabasa. The last time we fought you gave up before you were expended. The amount of punishment we took was near equal, and you might have won had your will prevailed. But each battle is a fresh slate to try again, and so that's what we'll do. You must learn as much as you can before you must go."
Gandigan had somewhat made the same mistake as Cabasa had, choosing to fully deplete himself in the hopes of a quick victory, only to now be left exhausted against an enemy who still lived. Cabasa kick some dirt up in his face before coming forward and slamming an elbow into the Namekian. Gandigan failed to keep his up defense and found himself keeled over, but not for long. Elongating his nail, Gandigan would chase after Cabasa, ripping off a flurry of claw strikes at the Mazoku, hoping to open fresh wounds across it's skin.
