Cabasa was also reaching her breaking point; from her bloodied face cooked to a crisp to her maimed shoulder without forgetting about her sliced arm and broken wings, she truly was in a pitiful state. Most warriors would have given up by now without an ounce of shame, knowing they had fought well. Cabasa, however, wasn't most warriors; she was the Mazoku from the lost clan of the distant star, last of her kind and repository of their collective knowledge. It was more than pride or growing stronger at this point, it was about honoring those who bestowed their memories upon her as a last act of sacrifice by doing everything in her power to put them to good use.

Aye, that she did, but sadly it wasn't enough to overcome the last challenge; her king's Shugeki wave, a blast of radiance that overflowed past her eye beams and enveloped Cabasa in a blinding glow. She tried to defend against it by shielding her burnt head with her arms, but it only spread the damage across parts of her body that were in a better condition, which caused more pain and blood lost; Cabasa fell in the bloodstained snow with a loud thud, her body giving up due to the immense shock caused by the buildup of stimulation she went through for the duration of this fight.

"Gan..." A string of purple blood left her lips as she gasped, her vision turning from a blur to an empty void; just like that, all the senses left her body and the screaming pain was finally hushed. A well-deserved rest. It would be needed when considering the extent of the damage she received and the many, many Mazokus she'd have to train to fulfill her liege's instructions for Lottus' eventual arrival.

Now, all there was left to do was to seek a portal and return Cabasa to the world of the living, hoping there was still enough time for her to do what was demanded of her. Her body was a difficult thing to look at with how many of its parts were mangled, but Gandigan knew that the teal Namekian serving him went through much worse. After all, it wasn't their first fight and, hopefully, it would not be the last...

Gandigan's Shugeki Wave eventually over took Cabasa... but maybe he put a little too much on it. When the dust settled he could see the other Mazoku laying there, unconscious from the damage it had taken. Gandigan approached slowly, before kneeling down and looking over the body. "If you really expect me to drag you to another portal..." Even if he wanted to, he didn't have the strength for that. But what he needed wasn't around here either.

So Gandigan hoisted the charred body up onto his back and began the march eastward. Soon the snowy plains would turn into a harsh desert, with the cold ash beneath his feet replaced by hot sand. About an hour into the trip Gandigan finally came upon what he was looking for. A terribly named Lottus within the sand, which he plucked and ground up into a flask that was laced around his hip. The base concoction had already been with him, and now with the final ingredient the potion was ready.

Gandigan forced open Cabasa's mouth and poured the liquid down it's throat. It would have tasted vile, but within the next few seconds the near lifeless body would awake, and hopefully feeling better.

Cabasa's body was inert for the entirety of the journey to the plant hidden amidst the sand of the desert. Her mind didn't have much more activity either; her sleep was dreamless, allowing her to bask in a cathartic void, or at least it was the case until Gandigan fed her the concoction.

Cabasa's eyes shot open, a searing feeling trickling down her throat alongside an unpleasant aftertaste that caused her to loll her tongue out from her mouth. "BLEH-" The teal Mazoku tried to stand up, but the slightest motion caused a wave of torpor to sweep through her entire body, making her wince in pain. This was to be expected now that the adrenaline subsided. Slowly but surely, Cabasa's blurry vision turned back to normal and the first thing she was met with were her king's face and the scorching heat of the desert.

"W-what... what the?" It was hard to tell if what she was experiencing was real, but the pain felt was more than tangible enough to make her inclined to accept that this was not a dream. "G-gandigan? Where are we? Where's the snow?" Was this desert also part of Hell? If so, then the place was definitely more varied than what Cabasa originally imagined. She tried to stand up, but her body felt extremely sluggish. Why not just deploy her wings and help herself up? Cabasa tried... but nothing was felt. She looked over her shoulder only to gasp at the sight of two crumpled, bloodied appendages. "Ah... sure." She looked pissed.

Cabasa awoke suddenly, feeling the effects of potion he poured for it. Given the condition that Cabasa was in, travelling would be tough, but they didn't really have much of a choice. "I'm afraid you're still in Hell. I carried you to an area known as the Blood Sea, though before we actually get to the blood there's a bit of a sand sea on the outside. I've been to this place once before, where I came across a special flower with properties I used in a potion to wake you up."

Gandigan took a look around, hoping to see an newly opened portal, but the two remained alone. "You have to get back to the living world now. We have to look around and try to find another opening to Namek, or anywhere at least. Once you're back into the realm of the living you can get back to your training with the others; there's nothing left for me to teach you."

Gandigan stood up, and waited for Cabasa to do the same. "I say we keep walking towards the Blood Sea itself. Things are much cooler there and I'm getting sick of the heat. If we're lucky one of the Ogres will be in a good mood and help us find a portal; despite what they say I know they've been tracking them. Once we find one it should be as easy as jumping back through."

"Grhm..." Cabasa listened to Gandigan's explanations with a groggy grumble. Apparently, they were still in Hell, which was terrible in and of itself. On top of that, Namek still had the inevitability of Lottus' attack looming over it. The good news was that, for some reasons, Hell possessed a location named the Blood Sea. Cabasa hoped that the title wasn't just for figurative reasons; she was beyond hungry.

"You made a potion to wake me up? I thank you, my liege. This being said, I didn't figure you for an alchemist, but it is a useful talent to have." In her mind, Cabasa always imagined Gandigan as a warlord, but maybe his knowledge in alchemy had something to do with a connection to the Dragon Clan. She'd have to ask him later when time wouldn't be against them.

With a struggling groan and great physical exertion, Cabasa finally got back up on her feet. They were still wobbly, but Gandigan's brew poured enough vitality into her being to allow her to shuffle around. She pressed her hands against her back and made her bones sing with a satisfying crack followed with a please sigh. "Agreed. The sooner I get out of here, the better. I have a lot on my plate and I'd rather not waste any more time simmering under the sun."

Cabasa eyed her mentor for a moment, her lips curling up in a small smile. "Thank you for the fight, my Daimyo. You fight true and well; it was an honor to bleed you." Fights with Gandigan were always exhilarating, but Gandigan was right: Cabasa needed to experience different opponents if she wanted to make any meaningful progression. "Eager to see what the other Mazokus have in store for me. But enough of that; you mentioned something about Ogres? Are they the wardens of Hell? Tell me about them and if I should be on guard or allow you to do the talking." They were so many questions in Cabasa's mind right now. She asked the essential ones, preferring to cut to the chase.

"My skills in alchemy are basic compared to some, but it has been something that I've been working on." Gandigan had begun researching alchemy when he returned to Namek after deciding to keep his memories. He found enough experienced alchemists among the Mazoku of the Outer Plait to learn from, starting off with basic poultices of healing and rejuvenation before moving onto more advanced potions like the one he had given to Cabasa. In Hell he imagined that he would have plenty of time to improve on those skills.

"You proved an able warrior. Despite my constant increasing of power you came as close to victory as you've ever been before. Perhaps one day we will battle again and you'll finally get that victory." There were other ways to get to Hell, and those were voluntary. Hitch a ride with a Shinjin or Oni, or find yourself in possession of a Guiding Candle. If Cabasa wanted to know more about later then Marimba could fill in the details.

"More or less. They tend to be big, dumb brutes most of the time. As long as you don't cause any trouble we shouldn't expect any in return. Just follow my lead and we should be alright." Gandigan took the first steps forward, heading off in the direction that he remembered the Blood Sea being in. The two would have to walk for about an hour until finally the first Ogres came into sight; they hated the sand sea about as much as anyone else did.

"Ahoy there!" Gandigan waved down the nearest one, who was taking a bath within the sea of blood before them. It stretched as far as they eye could see, with Ogres occasionally walking along the pier. "I'm looking for any more of those rifts that have opened to the living world. Seen any near by?" The Ogre looked up at the two of them with an uninterested gaze, before turning his attention back to the paper in his hands. "Why? No dead can pass through them. You're stuck here forever."

Unfortunately physical intimidation against Ogres tended not to be very successful as it always ran the risk of bringing Yemma down, and that was an instant loss. "I may be dead, but the one next to me isn't. If you don't take me to the nearest rift then I'll tell Yemma that you snuck this one in, and you know who he feels about the living being up here?" The Ogre's expression changed quickly. He leapt out of the Blood and began to walk east. "Right t-this way."

Gandigan's array of talents were growing each and every single day, it seemed. Warrior, leader, and now alchemist. What would be the next revelation adding itself to this repertoire? Cabasa admired Gandigan's dedication to several fields, but she didn't feel an ounce of jealousy; she was a warrior through and through, a calling who she relished. Maybe one day she'd dabble in the Dragon Clan magicks of her extinct clan, rediscovering what has been lost.

"Aye, I had excellent teachers in you and Marimba. One day, I'll repay my mentors with a good beatdown." Cabasa very dearly wished that Gandigan would find his way out of Hell, both to fight him again and to lead the Mazoku Kingdom. Marimba was someone who she admired for his battle prowess and candid brutality. However, out of the two, Gandigan was definitely the better leader.

"Meatheads, I see." Cabasa took a deep breath; she definitely needed to shut up and ignore any potential slights. Yes, she was crippled and weak, but her tenacity and hot-headedness remained intact. She followed in Gandigan's footsteps for an hour or so, her stomach growling every now and then. The hunger made her twitch. It was a fight against her primal instincts. The contest against the thirst was a hard one, but Cabasa was a sharper, more disciplined huntress than before; the hunger was delayed... for now.

Normally, the sight of a big hairy Ogre would have made Cabasa shrivel in disgust at the idea of her lips touching the same liquid as he, but she was too famished to be picky. As Gandigan greeted the Ogre and asked for directions, Cabasa practically lunged herself at the shore, falling to her knees to guzzle down the red ambrosia that reinvigorated her body. Crumpled wings regained their vigor and straightness while the likes of her face and arms had most of their cuts mended. Cabasa's stomach was bloated, distended. With a good smack aimed at her gut and a loud burp, it returned to its normal size to reflect her body's accelerated healing. "Ah~ Much, much better. " The hematophagous Mazoku gave her wings a test that proved very conclusive while stretching her limbs.

"..." She listened to Gandigan blackmail the Ogre and mention something about a character named Yemma before adding to his story. "Yes, I stepped into one of the portals by accident; I would like to return home soon."

The two followed behind the Ogre for ten or so minutes, being brought into a small office like area that Gandigan had never seen before. His trips to the blood sea had been view, and in the past he had focused on just the sea itself. The Ogre that had been guiding them looked hesitant to knock on the door, but after a few deep breaths he found the courage to do so. The three would stand there and see... nothing, so the Ogre knocked again.

This time the door would fling open, and behind it stood a large, red Ogre in a lab coat and a pair of glasses. "How many times do I have to tell you not to disturb me while I'm working? Do you have any idea how important my job is to Yemma? And what the Hell are these two doing with you? This is supposed to be secret research!"

The Ogre seemed about ready to slam the door in their faces, but their Ogre guide intervened and explained the situation to him. Though his anger didn't seem to die down at all he would admit the two into the office. Once they stepped inside they would find a dozen or so Ogres running around frantically, writing down notes, stapling pieces of paper to other pieces and hanging things on the wall. Near the back was a massive piece of art work which appeared to represent all of Hell.

"You're trying to track the rifts? Find a pattern? Any success so far?" The lead Ogre didn't look happy to be taking questions. "Yes. Yemma has tasked me with trying to put an end to this problem, before the dead find a way to slip through. You said you wanted to get to Namek? Follow me." The Ogre walked them over to his desk, before taking a seat and flipping through a large book. "Let's see... Namek... here we go." The Ogre laid flat the book and showed it to the two.

On the papers were a list of locations within Hell, and the most common occurrences of rifts leading to Namek. "As you can see here the portals aren't so random. They've been opening and closing at similar times, and they all lead back to the same place. A portal to Namek will be opening just outside of this office in... right now?"

For a dozen minutes or so, Cabasa and Gandigan tailgated one of the Ogres. She looked around as they made their way to the office, eyeing each and every single Ogre crossing her gaze with interest. Some were doing repairs on the piers, others were stumbling around with paperwork and caged souls in their arms; they looked more like staff performing administrative tasks than actual guardians. Cabasa simply shrugged, unsure of what to make of all this.

Their "tour guide" was hesitant at knocking on the door. Cabasa presumed it was probably due to a superior lying at the other side. Before she had the time to lose her temper, the Ogre mustered his wits and bothered the Ogre of science who looked quite displeased.

Cabasa allowed the two Ogres to hash it out; she wasn't interested in the slightest in their verbal joust. In the meantime, she observed the painting who she astutely deduced to be a representation of Hell due to the snowy and desert biomes she was familiar with present on the depiction. She tried her best to memorize the intricacies of the realm despite the abstraction, for it could potentially come in handy to orient herself if she were to die. She could also always threaten one of these Ogres to guide her like Gandigan just did, but Cabasa wasn't as apt as him with words and there was that Yemma figure who she needed to be concerned with.

She focused back on the scientist when he presented the paper trying to map out the pattern of the rifts tied to Namek. Apparently, they weren't that uncommon and, most importantly, their sequence had some kind of logic, of repetition. "REALLY?!?! RIGHT NOW?" Cabasa took the cue and immediately rushed out of the office, hoping that the scientist's calculations were true. "COME, GANDIGAN!" While the Mazoku king couldn't escape Hell through the portals, she still wanted to bid him farewell properly.

Through the other side Gandigan could see... green land; lush and full of life. Was it actually Namek? Hard to tell, but they didn't have much choice but to take his word on it. Now was the time to go back home for Cabasa, but not before one final admission.

"Cabasa. We spoke earlier about what to do with Lottus knowing that he's likely to come back and I've thought of a solution. Someone needs to stay down here with him, to make sure he can't escape again, and I've decided that it'll be me. I won't be coming back, which means it falls onto you and the others to deliver the death blow to him. I wanted to come back and do it myself, but things will be better this way."

Gandigan expected Cabasa to have a lot to say in response, but he wouldn't let the Mazoku say a word. Before it could respond at all he would grab a hold by the wings and throw it through the portal.

The void of Cabasa's sclera shined for the first time since forever at the sight of verdant hills and lazy rivers reminding her of mother Namek. Even if this somehow wasn't the place proper, the exact coordinates of the planet were etched in Cabasa's mind; she'd just have to find a ship if astray. Cabasa turned to Gandigan with her arms crossed, her gaze inscrutable due to the cavalcade of emotions going through it.

Before she had the time to slip a word in, Gandigan confessed his true intentions of not coming back from the Afterlife to keep Lottus there after his demise. This was quite the draconian measure, but Cabasa understood that her king probably mulled this over for a while. It was a sacrifice he was willing to make not only for Namek's sake, but for the perennity of the entire universe. The truth was that Cabasa still felt no connections for the other worlds and its native species in her heart. Despite this, she admired the determination Gandigan exhibited.

She was going to say something, but Gandigan pressed the issue by grabbing the teal Namekian by the pink membrane of her wings, tossing her into the portal. Cabasa's eyes widened in shock; one moment she was standing by her Daimyo's sides then, in the blink of an eye, she found herself prone on the grass of the Dragon Isles near the Guru Village.

Cabasa stood up and dusted herself, looking back where the portal that brought her back home used to be. "Fight and die well, Gandigan." With a grim, resolute countenance, the winged Mazoku resumed her journey without sparing the road behind a second glance. It was now up to the defenders of Namek to deliver death upon Lottus. If they failed to send him to Hell, then all of Gandigan's secret plan would have been for nothing. Time was of the essence; they needed to hurry!
