A red convertible hovercar zipped through the Diablo Dunes. The words JU1C3 were printed across the license plate. Paya's hand rested on the driver's door while the other kept the steering wheel straight. A smooth jazzy boom-bap kind of tune was playing from the car's radio.
"Araka."
Silence
"Araka."
Silence
At the start of their trip, Araka was giddy and energetic. One might even say the man was excited to go on the long drive. Nothing like getting out of the city for a little while. This was his attitude the first hour into their drive from West City. He was active and entertaining, at least by the Professors standards.
She'd wished he was this energetic during lecture hall. His carefree attitude that he used to get by in life wore her patience thin. It was indeed a phenomenon how he'd made it this far in life with little to no effort given. If not for him being a prodigy in all facets of technology, she might've overlooked the young man during their initial encounter.
Araka's face collided with the passenger side of the dashboard. After the abrupt stop that reeled him forward practically out of his seat. The clips and pins in his hair went flying everywhere. As he collected the trinkets from the floor of the car, he spoke his mind.
"What the hell Professor!? You could've given me a warning or something!"
He finally took his eyes off the car floor for the first time since he hit his head. And he realized why he got no warning about the abrupt stop. Before them, clear and unmistakably was a chunk of the Earth's Moon. Araka also understood now why the Professor was rushing him out of the dormitory.
"The hell do you think we're gonna do with that?"
"We're going to excavate it."
"And take it where?!"
"The lab of course."
"You mean your Condo!?"
"No. The Lab. I'd appreciate it if you referred to the facility as such."
"...It's a 2 Bedroom 1 Bath, 1046 sqft unit in downtown west city."
"If you think this is a bad idea you could just say so."
"Oh, I apologize. I thought it was clear that this IS A TERRIBLE IDEA!
"Your conception was a terrible idea, but I've making the most of it."
"Ow."
"Speaking ones mind a bit much for your feelings?"
Viper sat idle in the backseat, enjoying his time outside the city and untethered from various machines. He'd entered low powered mode to conserve energy, similar to how biological personnel performed sleep. The sound of Master Araka's voice screeching brought him back online. Viper concluded that an anomaly must've recently occurred, which explained why his body had been sprawled across the backseat.
"Master Araka. Professor Paya. We've seemed to have come to a stop. Initializing threat analysis of our location."
"Araka."
Silence
"Araka."
Silence
"Mata yo ga akereba owakare
