Hunting Monkeys
After weeks of travel, Maxsuz had finally arrived at planet Plant. Staying crammed inside that minuscule and old Attack Pod of his for such a long time would make anyone else insane, considering the hibernation system didn't even work. Yet, the Argin could enter such a state of focus on his objective, that it barely made any difference.
Once the ship entered the planet's atmosphere, the himônus opened his eyes and watched the descent into the Mercenary Outpost in the Saiba Wastes. He had been to such outpost many times before, doing essentially the same job. The war between Saiyans and Tuffles made Plant a breeding ground of people needing to be found, captured or killed. It did not matter at the end of the day. Not to Maxsuz, at least. He did not care about each side, their reasons, who was right or wrong, only if they were willing to pay well for his services. That conflict had been going for so long he wandered if even the ones fighting it still remembered why. Regardless, the Renegade had a job, and that was the only thing he would think about until it was finished.
After landing, the Argin put on his white mask and opened the pod's shuttle. The air was dry and hot, but it would not be the case for long, as night was approaching the desert, and temperatures were due to fall drastically. Maxsuz locked the pod and carried it to the nearest ship garage to store it. After that, he followed to the outpost's HQ. As he walked to his destination, he would observe the slew of mercenaries, assassins, criminals and other kinds of scum. It was almost as bad as Hera, which made him feel at home somewhat, although the desert did not really suit him.
He arrived at the station and got to one of the clandestine communicator cabins there. The himônus ensured no one was overhearing him, just as it was told, Maxsuz put the communicator in an exact frequency and started speaking.
"I have arrived at the agreed destination. Awaiting further instructions."
The Argin waited a few seconds for a response, which eventually came.
"Good. Half of the payment shall be transferred to your account shortly. The second half will be transferred once you complete the job."
"That's a given. Tell me what I need to know."
"The target is called Sargent Parusulei. He and his squad of soldiers have deserted Vegeta's Royal Force and deserve severe punishment for this act of cowardice. They have been last seen 2 days ago heading towards the Ruined Metropolis, but we do not know if they managed to survive the trip. Regardless, we don't have men to risk sending after those pieces of trash, so we are entrusting it to you. Retrieve them, dead or alive and bring them to the outpost. Then call us again and we will send a small squad to pick them up."
"Understood. What are the appearances of Paruslei and his crew, so I can identify them?"
"Paruslei should be wearing a red royal armor and has a big scar on the back of his neck. It should not be difficult to identify. His squad should be with him."
"Right. I'll be on my way then."
"Before you go, I need to inform you Paruslei is quite strong, hence his ranking. You understand the risks. If we do not hear from you in 3 days, we'll consider you D.I.A."
"With all due respect, Saiyan, I have been doing this for longer than you've probably been alive. I would not accept a job I cannot complete."
"Very well. I hope your reputation is not just for show, Renegade. Over and out."
The communicator went silent, then started making the sound of static. Maxsuz leaned back on his seat, irritated and thought to himself.
"Damn monkeys. Always so proud of their strength they underestimate everyone else. As much as I cannot stand their filthy faces, I admit they at least pay well."
The himônus left the cabin and walked out of the HQ. It was almost night time, but for someone with an enhanced vision such as Maxsuz, it would not matter in the slightest.
"Time to begin the hunt. Heh, I suppose I could just follow the poop trail those monkeys tend to leave behind and I'll find them in under a day..."
