Parker had made incredible time, thanks to the supply of contraband fuel that had been left in the frankly enormous cargo bay on this cruiser. He still couldn’t believe he’d gotten away with the damn thing, but he’d noticed during the trip that there was already some effort put into disguising the ship’s true ownership. Whoever that old Namekian was, he’d been way more of a help than Parker could have anticipated.
Earth came into view, and Parker took a moment to appreciate the view. The last time he was on Earth he was just a little kid. He barely remembered his homeworld, so this homecoming was perhaps not as emotional as it could be, but it still felt like the right place to be for now. He could have gone to another world, but without knowing what the indigenous species of those worlds were like, it felt like too much of a risk. Instead, coming back to Earth where at the very least he could easily blend in was the right play.
He hit a few switches and buttons on the control console, putting the ship into reentry mode as he put in parameters for a landing - somewhere less inhabited, with enough open space to put this enormous ship to ground properly. The ship’s AI did the rest, selecting an area in the wilds of the southern sector of Earth.
As the ship approached, the ship provided more information, skimmed from passing radio and electronic transmissions, and gleaned from the ship’s own scanners. Parker was about to land in an area locals called the Kaiju Jungle, known for its unique and dangerous wildlife, it had several small plateaus that would serve as ideal landing pads, and was not so harsh a climate that Parker would be unable to survive there, despite the predatory fauna.
Parker selected a plateau that was mostly bare, but with a tall bunching of trees along the northern rim. He figured having some cover on one side would be a benefit, just in case. His ship made landfall without incident, and before long the boarding ramp was down and Parker was stepping out into the thick, humid air of the Kaiju Jungle.
“Well hey there Parker,” he said to himself, as if emulating someone waiting for his arrival, “And welcome back…”
He looked around, and off in the distance could hear the roar of something big and most likely very mean.
“...I guess…”
It was in this moment that he realized he had absolutely no idea what to do next. His plan had only gone as far as getting the hell off of Arcose.
