Shoki's PL: 5,000
Shoki decided he liked blue jeans. They fit better than the standard-issue trousers of the Weather Bureau, and he could match them with fun tops, besides. For his second-ever job interview (well, third if you counted the Weather Bureau), Shoki was wearing a shirt emblazoned with a grinning paozusaurus. He’d bought it with his pitiful paycheck from Sparking World. He thought that the shirt gave the appropriate amount of dread and wonder for someone of his station.
In many ways, he was a beneficent tyrant, much like this fabled lizard. At least, in comparison with these mortals. Fair-handed, majestic even, perhaps… and brimming with an unknowable power.
“I like your shirt!” A boy gushed to him as he entered the movie theater.
Shoki gave him a thumbs up and grinned, just like the paozusaurus on his shirt.
The boy laughed.
I think I’m getting the hang of dealing with these Earthling mortals! Shoki thought as he made his way past the long line of patrons waiting for their chance to see the latest motion picture ( Flying Monkeys From Outer Space!) and into a small office overflowing with receipts, invoices, work schedules, and a mishmash of office-abilia that he couldn’t readily discern.
Shoki liked blue jeans. But he liked movies even better. He’d watched forty of them already, and though most were horrible, he even liked the bad ones. And, he thought, since he loved the movies so much, why not get into the movie business?
“I’m here for the ticket attendant job interview!” Shoki announced enthusiastically to the slender, poofy-haired woman behind the theater manager’s desk.
“I’m here to rob the joint!” Someone yelled angrily far behind him, eliciting screams.
Shoki widened his eyes in confusion. Gunshots rang out.
Is this… a movie, but for real?
Turning from the office, he leaned out the doorway to see a tiger-headed zoanthrope level a smoking uzi at the one of the box office attendants. “Give me all the cash!”
Pretty rude, Shoki thought, frowning at the robber. It looked like he had accomplices, too. They were all wearing matching jackets with snakes on them. Cool jackets, though.
