The fighters' lobby in the Budokai Grounds was noticeably less crowded today. Though many still crowded spots of the room, after both today and the Elimination round, more and more were sent packing. After today, only sixteen would remain- and Fend was one of them... Though right now, she didn't feel like one of Earth's sixteen best fighters. She just felt tired.

"I'll tell you one thing." Fend spoke, completely exhasperated. She laid sprawled over one of the several couches set against the walls. "Your attacks sure fuckin' hurt hurt for awhile when they hit." She and Pracross had managed to drag themselves here from their fight a few minutes ago- though only now had Fend managed to catch her breath enough to talk. Her torn cloak, burnt stomach, and tattered bandages wrapped around her arms were clear indicators of her foe's strength- the fight could have gone either way, though Fend managed to pull herself on top.

Raising her head up slightly, Fend glanced to the many televisions connected to the cieling, displaying the few ongoing fights from many camera angles, as well as re-runs of past fights. A large chart suspended in the middle displayed the current brackets. Fend hadn't sat down to look at the names of many of the others in the tourney yet.

Still, many of the other fights being played on the big screens looked intense too. The Announcer's commentary was entertaining even if her vision was still a bit too blurred from fatigue to see much of the action. "I wonder what people thought of our fight?" Fend could make out what she was pretty sure was footage of herself and Pracross fighting- if the bright purple shape was any indicator, it was the moment when Pracross was using that massive attack he'd charged for awhile. Taking another deep breath in and slumping back against the seat, Fend rested her aching body. This was definitely going to need some of her healing power to recover in time for next match...

Even after the fight was over, Pracross was still in no shape to be moving. Sure, the med team had provided him and Fend with bandages and medicine to tone down the pain, but even those didn’t get rid of the shake in his legs and the exhaustion in his body. Fortunately the World Tournament team had provided a meal for the participants who had finished, which was the Saiyan’s true first priorities upon being released from the fighting ring. With 4 empty bowls in front of him and another 3 still stuffed to the brim, Pracross was probably the happiest he’d ever been in his life.

Fend wasn’t doing too swell either. Fortunately for her, most of her bed-ridden feeling was due to exhaustion rather than battle scaring. Still, her cut up clothes, bruises, cracked mask and shaky energy said it all. There was no doubt she was exhausted, but she would have some good time to get to feeling better before her next upcoming fight. “Hehehe, thanks.” The Saiyan said, pulling up his next bowl to his lap, getting ready to eat it down. “Don’t sell yourself short though, you were really killing it out there!” The boy looked over at his old opponent and smiled wide. “Every time I thought I had a plan, you’d scare the living crap outta me with some new crazy move. I may be fast, but most of that speed was used running from you trying to get me.”

Turning his attention back to the bowl, the Saiyan used his chopsticks to scarf down the ramen that sat inside, stopping only mid-bite to see his Supido Kyo on a television. Nearly jumping up and dropping the bowl on the floor, the Saiyan gasped at how well the attack looked, even while slowed down to track his movements. The commentator even gave it some highlights to show the lightning strikes he created and how it had scared quite a couple viewers. “Oh shoot, I guess that makes sense.” Pracross muttered, setting his sticks down back into the bowl. Those bolts created by Pracross' attacks were just second nature by this point, and yet he couldn't blame anyone for being afraid of them. After all, if you see lightning hurdling towards you, you'd naturally assume it wouldn't just be a sensory effect. “I hope that didn’t scare you. Those strikes aren’t actually dangerous, at least not that I’ve noticed. It’s just a side effect of my Speed Demon ability.”

Crossing his legs, the Saiyan turned towards another monitor, eyeing the fights and their thrilling moments before stopping at a familiar face. Crotona, the fighter Pracross had originally gone up against was back in the tournament. Had someone dropped out? Not only that, but Crotona had managed to ring out her opponent and move on up to the top 16 spot. “Oh hell yeah, get it Crotona!” The boy shouted, throwing up a fist pump. “I should try and find her and apologize for calling her scary. Hopefully she isn’t too mad at me for that…” Pracross muttered before raising the bowl in his lap back to his mouth and slurping down it’s remains before tossing it atop the growing tower on the table in front of him.

Now that was a suspenseful finish! Of all the fights Jackie had the pleasure of watching from the sidelines, this was up there as being an intense back and forth. Just, the way both had to think about the ring out at the end, and both got caught up in the same problem. After some good blasts and strikes. There was lightning somewhere, which was a very interesting treat.

"Woooo!"
Jackie was but one among the many. Her voice would not truly pierce the volume of the crowd around her. She melted into the crowd. Only really sticking out to anyone paying attention and looking for that carrot top lady. There was so much energy still left in the air. Everyone was still pumped and hyped for the next one too! The dark lady sure was too. But an opportunity really presented itself when her crimson eyes trailed the victorious Fend along towards the fighter's lobby. After talking with Azoth, maybe just meeting with these people would open up a lot for her. And to think a week ago, she would have stayed away entirely. Armed with her half-drunk soda, the dark lady broke from the nearby crowd. Jackie's mind focused on one thing.

Jackie pokes her head past the entrance. Watching as the less cluttered lobby around here seemed much laxer now that more participants were funneled out. It wasn't hard to spot the two last contestants in here. Casually talking as they were. The Earthling didn't really hide her presence around them as she eventually pulled upon them. Shooting Fend and Pracross both waves. With her casual jacket, tee, and shorts on, she was dressed for the weather.

"Hey! Just want you both to know, that was such a cool match! Ya'll both did so well."
Without really even putting a preference in the victor, she offered both a sort of congratulations on the entertainment value. Which is really what she came around for. A few of the more disappointing fights have been far less engaging so she'd have taken either as a winner.

"Sorry if I'm buttin' in here. I just like meetin' the more interesting fighters. Name's Jackie. I've just been watching the tournament so far. Easy top three fight right now."
Jackie would offer to shake, but both of them looked so out of it. Might just be rude if one couldn't even lift themselves up for it. So, instead, she'd try taking a seat nearby. Crossing legs as she eyes the very same big screens the other did.

"Fend, Fend!"

Erebos waved his hand frantically from across the lobby, hurriedly jogging over to her as he did. Though he hadn't caught the entirety of her match, he'd learned enough through osmosis that she'd definitely won. Word around the grapevine was that her match was one of the longer ones in the tournament so far, which was always exciting!

Clasping a hand around hers, he smiled brightly, and jumped up and down.

"You won! That means we're one step closer to a rematch kiddo!"

Pulling away, he pointed to the television. His own name had moved up now that his match with Onnio was over and done with. Now he was somewhere in the top 16. Pretty impressive; moreso than he ever imagined ranking. Then again, he was a Demon Prince. Those were pretty tough little nuts to crack.

"See, since we're on opposite ends of the bracket, I think we both need to reach the finals for our second fight. I hope we both make it!"

He turned to Pracross, and smiled at them too. "You did good too." Did that sound dismissive? Hopefully not.

Someone else was here too. A bystander? She hadn't been at any of the opening ceremonies from what he could recall, but maybe he'd just missed her. That bright hair was kind of hard to miss, though.

"Hello~" Erebos said to Jackie, wiggling his fingers in greeting. "I'm Erebos. Did you lose in the elimination round or something?"

"I am going to kill that stars-damned bloody bastard of a fucking referee next time I bloody see them!" Erbia snarled as he practically stomped into the backroom, a green skinned white haired alien girl trying to placate him, whilst a red leather wearing Saiyan female simply shrugged. "Come on now boss he was just doing his job..." said the Broljin, earning a scowl from the Heran.

"I don't care about that! I was finally enjoying myself in that fight, and against a Majin no less, and just as I was really getting into it... That bastard called the match because of some stupid bullshit time out rule?!" he bellowed, slamming his fist into a nearby wall and growling.

"You're in to the next round though..." Korla said before getting smacked upside the back of her head by the Saiyan woman. "That's not the point Korla. To win on some damned technicality like that? It obviously isn't sitting well with him. I'd be pissed off as well." explained Rassica, to which Erbia nodded emphatically.

"EXACTLY! What the hell kind of damned tournament is this if there's a fucking time limit to a fight eh?" he asked, sighing and rubbing a hand across the back of his neck. "How's anyone supposed to enjoy themselves if they've got a damned ticking clock to keep an eye out for..." he grumbled. The Broljin just sighed and shook her head. She was never gonna understand these warrior racial types. Just her luck to be the "voice of reason" as it were for a Heran AND a Saiyan.

"Well maybe you can fight that Kaza lady later on after the tournament and properly get to cut loose eh?" she suggested. "Not like either of you were really going all out anyway." she said, immediately biting her lip as she realised her mistake. Erbia groaned and punched the wall once more whilst Rassica palmed her face. "The fight was building up to that though! I could feel it! And I'm sure she was ready to cut loose as well!" Erbia said, hanging his head dejectedly and grumbling under his breath. The Broljin woman gave the rest of the people in the room a very apologetic look even as the Heran picked a wall to lean up against as he continued to berate the whole concept of a time limit under his breath.

Fend cracked a smug smile in response to Pracross's compliments. "And next time I'm gonna have even more tricks, so you better watch out." Competitive as ever, Fend had already latched onto their newfound rivalry and had started to brainstorm ideas for new techniques in her head. Pracross would have to work just as hard as her if he wanted to keep up with the Shinjin, and Fend wouldn't have it any other way.

In response to his worries that he could have frightened the Shinjin, Fend just rolled her eyes. "Pfffff, nah. I ain't scared of any light show." That was partially a lie- his giant attack had managed to worry Fend that it could be the blast that would take her out of the tournament. Pracross briefly mentioned some Crotona person. Fend furrowed her brows and looked up at the leaderboards, her vision focusing enough to make out the names. The screen blinked with a sudden update to the standings- apparently Crotona had beaten some Delia person. "Well, they're prolly somewhere here still if that's any indicator, shouldn't be too hard to find them if 'ya can sense ki."

Before Fend could start asking Pracross about his techniques and skillset, though, another voice called out to the two exhausted fighters. "...We have fans???" Fend whispered to Pracross in surprise as Jackie praised their fight. Shaking her head and clearing her throat, Fend managed the energy to point a finger gun at Jackie with a confident grin. "Eyyy, thanks. Certainly was one of the best fights I've ever had too. You a fighter also in the tourney, or just here 'ta watch?"

Jackie wasn't the only person to take note of their fight, evidently. A familiar voice caused Fend to perk up, pushing herself upright despite a painful protest from her aching ribs. "Oh damn, hey! Nice to see you haven't gotten your ass kicked yet." Fend waved back to Erebos, humming in thought at his mention of the finals. "Oof, that's gonna be tricky. Some of the people in here are pretty fuggin' strong." Fend glanced up, catching a glimpse of an Arcosian fighting on one of the screens. "But hey, I ain't gonna go down without one hell of a fight."

She was about to introduce her two rivals to each other when shouting filled the lobby. Fend winced and covered her sensitive ears. Storming in came a familiar Heran, quite peeved about the time-out rule. Erbia was here too? By the sound of it, he too had advanced to the next round. Fend looked back up to the standings- most notably, who she was fighting next. "I'd imagine the staff 'ere are on a tight schedule with so many fights, y'know!" Fend called out to the Heran from where she sat. "Besides, you get to fight me next round, so that's a plus!"

Fend was just as hyped up for a rematch as Pracross was, hyping up that he better be careful should he get swept away getting left behind. “Heh, trust me, I got plenty of ideas, you’ll just have to wait and see ‘em!” Pracross said, complimenting his new rival’s energy. With the promise of a fight like that again, the Saiyan sure as hell knew he had to give it his all with the next match. If he let Fend get two up on him, she might not ever let him live it down!

As Pracross began to watch Crotona’s match, Fend recommended he use ki sensing to find her. “Oh, yeah. That’s right, I forgot I could do that.” The boy muttered to himself, closing his eyes to zone in on the energies around him, but rather than finding Crotona, the boy was overwhelmed by multiple impressive energy signatures heading this way. Turning to face the door to see who awaited them, in walked a very pretty Earthling with really vibrant, orange hair. The pretty lady introduced herself as Jackie and congratulated the two for such an interesting match, leading Fend to ask Pracross if it was true. The Saiyan couldn’t help but giggle at her remark.

“Yes, indeed, thank you. That fight was easily one of my top three to be in.” Pracross would say, throwing a hand as he talked, only for it to fall to his side like a weight back onto the table the second he was done with it, causing the remaining ramen to shake. “Name’s P’cross. You have energy like a fighter, so if you aren’t one, I’d be downright shocked.” Pracross was about to start showing down on another bowl to stave of his hunger once more, but stopped only when a massive energy walked through the doorway, coming in and bouncing up and down like an excited puppy.

The energy source seemed to know Fend, stating they were one step closer to a rematch. Now that Pracross had gotten a look at the figure, the Saiyan was able to recognize enough detail to deduce that this demonic-like energy haver was not only just a fighter but a combatant in the tournament. The name was slipping Pracross by, but it seemed he wouldn’t have to worry about that long. Just after the demon gave a mediocre compliment to the boy, the figure would identify themselves as Erebos, who had gone against Onnio, a fellow Saiyan from plant. This was starting to sound like a match Pracross would need to watch… “Uh, yeah, thanks man.” The boy would say to the simple compliment, trying his best not to sound ungrateful.

As if the booth weren’t filled enough, three more figures came in, each with varying levels of powers. The Heran of the group was mid-complaint about his match, talking about how upset he was with the fact his match had been timed out. Pracross fortunately negated that issue by destroying the timer, albeit accidentally. Still, the boy could only agree with the Heran and the Saiyan, a fight cut short by time was almost painfully upsetting. “Ah damn, I hope your next match goes better, man.” The Saiyan would start, only for Fend to reveal that she was the next fight for the Heran. “Ohhh shit, that’s gonna be hype as hell match then.” The Saiyan said with a nod, slowly bringing his next bowl to his face before chowing down.

Jackie crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat, keeping a polite set of red eyes on Fend and Pracross as they acknowledged her. Compared to the average schmoe, yeah. She was at least trained by the feel of her strength. She had some know-how. How much was unclear just by looking at her. The woman wears a very casual set of clothing. Between the shorts and tee, there wasn't much that popped out as a 'warrior'. So to clear it up between these two.

"Ahh, nah. I wasn't in the tourney. Came around to watch the fights. I missed the last Budokai so I promised myself to make time. I wanted to come swing by and meet some of you before but, it was actually super crowded before..."
Well, she snuck it at the right time. Just before some more contestants had come back to the lobby and parked themselves here. A pair who were very loudly arguing between each other. And then another, very familiar fighter she got to watch a couple of times before. Being hard to miss had its perks at least, to stand out. It seems to have enticed another fighter on over too, giving Jackie a moment to look up at Erebos from her seat and smile.

"Oh, Erebos! It's nice to meet ya. It's Jackie. You have had some rather interesting fights. And Nah, even if I tried the prelims I would have lost them."
She shot up from her chair, the average-sized Earthling had a sort of energy to her. Offering a hand to shake to Erebos. She wasn't in the real thick of competition here, so seeing them all talk about their next fights or last from a spectator's point of view was very interesting. Their powers fluctuated a lot too, so there was little telling who'd actually come out on top here. There was a lot of insight to be gained here too, hearing what the others thought of certain fights or restrictions.

But she wouldn't let that bog her down too much. Jackie had the right mind to step back and watch both them and whatever went on television. She really wasn't in here to be the center of attention. If anyone would so indulge her though...

For being backstage, this place sure got busy quick. Another one of the competitors revealed themselves, this one a Heran. Wasn’t he up against Kaza? He could only imagine how that fight went. Somehow he missed it, but judging by his screaming, their fight didn’t get a true ending anyway. Timer scams were always so annoying.

”Oh come on,” he said, turning back to Fend, ”We can handle a couple of putzes. If you’re strong enough to handle me, then you’re strong enough to knock out just about anyone.” He side-eyed Pracross. ”No offense.”

Jackie’s comments were interesting. While it was true that she was weak, a lot of the competitors who made it this far didn’t seem like much on the outside. Maybe she was downplaying her skills, or maybe she was one of the few people in here that was at her full might right now. That’d be pretty sad.

”Well, you always have time to train for the next tournament. Surely you’ll be ready for the lot of us by then! That’s what... three, four years away? I dunno how these things work honestly.”

Erebos always felt a little out of place in big crowds like this. He usually preferred quieter chats than this, but stepping out of ones comfort zone was important to improve— both as a fighter and as a person!

Turning back to the Heran, he gave the man a lazy once-over. ”You’re up against Fend? I bet the odds on that fight will be pretty skewed. She’s almost as good as me yknow.” Leaning on a wall to mimic Erbia’s stance, he sighed and continued. ”Not to be rude or anything— actually, I am being rude— but Kaza would’ve won that bout if the timer hadn’t wound down.”

Maybe he was prodding a bit too much. Heran’s were almost as notorious as Saiyans when it came to their tempers. It was in Erebos’ nature to screw with people, though, being a trickster demon. That, combined with the fact that he beat Kaza, made Erbia a prime target for teasing from Erebos. This whole being nice thing was hard to keep up with.

”At least try to give her a good warm-up for her next match, okay?”

Erbia blinked as he recognised the masked pointy eared woman Fend now in the room... as well as the fact that there were a few others as well. Korla raised an eyebrow at her employers momentary blank stare before facepalming and groaning theatrically. "Did ya only just now figure there'd be other people in here boss?" the Broljin asked, the Heran shooting her a dark look that made her very quickly mime zipping her lips and shrugging. Erbia for his part grumbled and sighed, rubbing the back of his head.

"Eh, suppose I should apologise for all the yelling... Never got to actually start enjoying a fight against a Majin before. Bastards are usually too busy thinking about food or being plain ass weird to make it any good." the mercenary pirate explained as he apologised to the other combatants in the room.

He took another look back towards Fend, noting her injuries from the fight against the Saiyan that was being played on one of the screens. "You sure you're gonna be able to fight like that? Would hate to win just cus you weren't at your best." he asked with a smirk, before glancing over towards the posh bugger who apparently knew Kaza. Erbia chuckled and shrugged. "Probably, but only cus I would have made her go splat with my next attack. And... I'm almost certain that making a Majin go splat might count as maiming by Earthling standards..." he said non-chalantly. "They come back after getting splatted though... so I don't personally see it as maiming. Just more... incapacitating." Erbia mused.

The Saiyan woman Rassica rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I'm going to go get something to eat. Korla, get the captain some new gear would you from the ship?" she half-asked half-ordered the Broljin girl before she left. The Heran raised an eyebrow before looking at his currently topless self save for his necklace and arm covers. "What? Think this is too much for the Earthling crowds to handle?" he asked with a chuckle, Rassica firing a practically one power level bolt of energy at Erbia without even looking... right between his legs.

The Heran mercenary pirate groaned slightly at the impact before shrugging it off. "Don't feel I deserved that..." he grumbled. The silver haired Broljin snickered before leaving as well to head back to their ship. Erbia sighed and rubbed the back of his neck once more before turning his focus towards the various screens, watching the replays and live transmissions of the current fight. If he was going to make it through this tournament to claim the prize at the end of it, he'd need to know what he was up against.

    "Eh, we got a few days 'till next round starts, I'll be good." Fend reassured Erbia in response to his concerns about her injuries. When nobody was around she could get around to trying to use her healing magic on herself... But with the fights to come, she had the inkling she'd need more than just her own magic to recover.

Jackie, sadly, wasn't a fighter in the tourney. The human expressed doubts of making it far even if she'd entered. "Not with that attitude," Fend quipped with a pair of finger guns. "You should try it next time. Even if ya do get beat early on, you still get one whole good fight and someone to rematch later. Right, Pracross?" Fend gave her newfound rival a smug, challenging side-eye. Erebos now had competition if he wanted to keep the title of Fend's 'main' rival.

    Erebos insisted that he and Fend would be able to work their way to the finals. "I sure hope- If I lose I expect you to kick whoever beat me's ass for revenge in the finals." Fend sent a quick glance to Erbia. If the Heran could beat Fend and advance to the finals, and Erebos did as well, that sure would be a fight she'd turn up to watch. Erebos even gave a little jab to Erbia, doubting the alien's abilities to beat Fend in a fight.

    "The one guy I'm uh... just a little bit worried about maybe fighting is that Arcosian dude. He kiiiinda spooks me, to be honest." She glanced up to one of the screens, displaying an Arcosian blasting right through an unsuspecting android's attack. Lord Azoth was among one of the most gossiped fighters in the tourney grounds. His name was spoken either like some taboo or some mythical being. In his fights so far he had displayed immense power and skill... And that wasn't even his final form! Fend had showed most of her tricks in her fight, while there was no telling what else Azoth had in store.

Regardless of future fights, the ones that happened already were still something! Erbia went on about his match against Kaza... Wait, Kaza- wasn't that Erebos's friend? Fend furrowed her brow in mild worry as the Heran went on about how Majins were always "thinking about food or being weird," and being confident in being able to splat his opponent. This didn't seem like something she was fit to comment on yet...
