Cold... bitter cold, the ever-oppressive conditions of the snowy north bore down on the area surrounding the facility constructed so far away from the civic centers of the city and the estate itself. Its towering walls and oppressive look from the outside almost carried with it a menacing air when contrasted against the barren tundra that on all sides bordered the structure. The walls were painted a dark blue to stand it against the continuous white of the fallen snow during the day, but in effect showed little but the lights through its vaulted windows during the dark of night. Tunic's brow furrowed some at the whipping, howling wind outside, even so deep into the structure she could hear the blizzard outside and subconsciously feel the biting cold of endless winter's edge on her skin. Even running a continuous heat cycle off local geothermal vents the building barely maintained a lukewarm temperature that just happened to be comfortable enough for the purpose of its construction in the first place, a quiet and isolated area for Tunic to perform some training in a more extreme state. She had come to realize in recent fights that there was more there, something she couldn't fathom prior. And now, with that realization in mind, she intended to push herself further, to dig deeper and see what else might lie between herself and the trident, were these truths that her father or grandfather was aware of when they were possessors of the weapon? She had to wonder this much as her Father rarely spoke of the weapon outside of the brief times she would get to train with it in mind... perhaps he thought Tunic too young to learn the truths of the responsibility at the time, but she would never know at this point so there was no point in dwelling on it. As she readied herself for another round of drills, a series of footsteps came from nearby, heavier in weight but careful all on their own. These were all but too familiar to the young Baskerville, as those of the older butler Johnathan. The man had been Tunic's caretaker since the death of her parents and even now as she came more into her own being he served as the primary butler for the Baskerville estate and oversaw the operations of much of the staff that existed within the walls of the estate. "You should take a break Lady Baskerville, you have been pushing yourself exceptionally hard lately." Johnathan spoke, a hint of concern in his voice as he eyed the young woman. He carried with him a tray covered halfway with a drink settled on the remaining portion. "Exhaustion will do little to help you excel," Lowering the platter on a small picnic-style table, his gaze shifted once more to Lady Baskerville as she turned and lowered the trident to her side. "You make a valid point..." She spoke, taking slow steps to the table. "Too much and I will be bedridden longer than I was able to train." Lifting the lid of the platter Johnathan revealed beneath a warm soup, an ideal meal considering the conditions of nature just beyond the broad walls. Techs Used [UT] Weight of the Soul Himnabrjótur, like the other weapons of lineage, draws its power from the pieces given up by former wielders. This power under conventional circumstances cannot be felt or gauged by others. However, when fully manifest, even this power has a literal gravity to it. When held by Tunic, Himnabrjótur exerts an aura almost like a physical gravity around itself and Tunic comparable to the weapon's approximate Active powerlevel. To those within 80% it is noticeable without much effort. Those greater than 120% may not notice it without putting effort in. Those 50% or under may feel this as an almost smothering weight. This may be felt even by those lacking the innate talent to sense energy. This operates with antisense while the exact value of energy is hidden. Source: Ki Guide For Dummies #30 |
