As the distrusting biodroid said his goodbyes, FTAGN watched on, still taking on Cephala’s shape in… well, who could say? was entirely unreadable, lacking even a mind to read. But, still, to take a reasonable guess: curiosity. These emotions and concerns that motivated Cephala to act as he did, the texture, detail, and volume of his wants, feelings, and reasoning— they intrigued FTAGN. Even as Cephala left, then, it was as an object of curiosity… as a shape to be observed. In that sense, FTAGN’s gaze, unreadable and untrackable as it was, was the very definition of objectifying.
But then the shadow illusions came out, and attention shifted. emulated the illusory Erebos, even twirling around as an exact match (in fact, might have started and ended that swirl very slightly before the illusion did?)— other than the movements, though, it was hard to tell which Erebos it was emulating at first, as skin itself doesn’t contribute all that much to the silhouette.
”Meat.” repeated.
Then came the nervous system, and FTAGN’s silhouette shifted yet again. Not to the illusion with its nervous system freshly displaced, no, but to the silhouette itself. was pretty quickly developing an understanding of this meat, and what it looked like, but lacking in a depth of understanding of what they were for.
”brain.” repeated.
The words were nice, though. They were patterns of vibration originating from flaps of meat slapping each other, and what couldn’t have been great about that?
”bones!” repeated.
FTAGN next took on the form of that femur… but then another bone joined it, and then another, and yet another still, until looked like a texturelessly black Erebos skeleton. Though, as if didn’t like the size or shape of it much, FTAGN tried to press it inwards a bit, perhaps as if was trying to find a shape of own. It did not accomplish this size reduction through a simple to-scale shrinking, though, no: the ribs turned inwards, stabbing into where the organs would be. The upper and lower bones of the limbs overlaid over each other, fusing in a way that made their joints appear useless. The skull receded into the ribs— and, to fit better, did so backwards. hadn't been shown any of this.
Erebos continued with the introduction of a few new concepts FTAGN wasn’t familiar with the substance of, but didn’t seem interested. As far as Erebos knew, may not have even seen the portal!
”Why is flesh and blood.”
expression was, as always, unreadable.
”Why are you?”
And yet, floating somewhere in the air was the idea that, maybe, just maybe, FTAGN wasn’t the anomaly here. This existence thing… how peculiar…
