New proposed states of being During and after ATs that work within AT Wounding and Death rules without making another sort of 'tracking' system. The term Jailing and Imprisonment isn't something that's PURELY like, being locked up in a jail cell. It can range from getting pickled in a jar for a long time, to being sealed in a rice cooker, to being swallowed up in some unending dimension or something.
Intent to Jail: Like other intents, this is declared on attacks meant to render a character past the point of AT participation (Damage reaching their max value/Crit)! Intent to jail is in action similar to Intent to wound and is on the same bracket as it, only applicable in ATS. When a character is jailed, they receive a wound. However, alongside this wound, the character who jailed them picks any region on the planet the AT takes place on OR their own home region to set as the 'cell' for this character. Rather than incur a wound penalty to health for two/three months (depending on wound count) for ATs, the character is instead unable to join ATS for a month. Two months on their second wound. While this version of penalty is active, the character may only thread on the region the character taking them designated. Timer starts after AT concludes as normal, but they are allowed to travel off planet for free to their cell's region whenever they are freed from the AT itself early should they want to thread before then.
Intent to Imprison: This intent is similar to Intent to Kill, meaning the person needs to be on their second wound already in a Conquest AT or be in a Carnage AT in order to have it used against them. Rather than dying and proceeding to the Afterlife, the character who imprisoned them picks any region on the planet the AT takes place on OR their own home region to set as the 'prison' for this character. Timers to escape prison are the same as revival, increasing parallel to one another and affecting one another (someone imprisoned once and killed once will have the same timer on either as if they were killed twice already). Same reductions apply as well. While this timer runs, the character can only thread on the region the character taking them designated, and they cannot join any ATs. Timer starts after AT concludes as normal, but they are allowed to travel off planet for free to their prison's region whenever they are freed from the AT itself early should they want to thread before then. THEY DO NOT GET TO USE CHEAT DEATH MECHANICS NOR MEET ANY TUTORS. ARCHIVING CHARACTERS IMPRISONED WILL OTHERWISE BE TREATED AS DEAD FOR THE PURPOSES OF NEW GAME + - PRO HOWEVER.
Problems upfront: Wound penalty/timer reducers. These make less sense to hand wave than wounds just being purely what they are - wounds to the character's body. Not only that, medical machine makes less sense in reducing wound penalties incurred by jailtime, but that COULD be handwaved? Regardless, the health benefits of some traits can be ignored or worked around with the mechanic. I figured as-is it'd work better than keeping the same penalties entirely. Buddies/Minions getting half penalty timers for this also makes less sense so I would wonder if ignoring that rule for at least the penalty they receive (the 1/2 month for jailing and 8/10/12 month for imprisonment) but that might be asking to track a lot? 2 weeks for a wound to show no signs on a companion is crazy tho.
Things to consider: MAYBE allow cheating death anyways? Maybe it's like, how they get out early that really messes with their bodies. Doesn't entirely make sense with the CURRENT options so maybe a Cheat prison option with something different on offer for flavor?
