As the smoke cleared, Megis saw that it was Ramen that he had hit, though it appeared she took the brunt of the attack to protect Bing. Despite her best efforts to block his strike, she was clearly standing on her last legs, just about ready to fall. Megis was all to eager to give her that, though she had to interrupt his most pleasurable thoughts with more words. Another lecture; most of which he was happy to ignore. "What is the saying that Earthlings have? 'History is written by the victors?' Your opinion, as a loser, does not matter any more."

Megis stepped forward. He was marching slowly towards his prey; he could feel the end of this battle coming near. Although Bing was still relatively untouched, he knew the boy wouldn't put up much of a fight without the woman to protect him. Once she was out of the picture he should be easy pickings.

As he approached, a dull ringing floating through his mind. At first he couldn't make it out, though as he concentrated he realized that the woman was using her telepathy again. Megis stopped, and tried his hardest to decipher what she was saying. Rebuild it for himself.... power for his own.... know no mercy.... kill those who defy him. Despite not everything getting through, the intent was clear. She would ruin him, even in her death.

Megis, like a petulant child, began to seethe. More steam erupted from his head, joined with tears from his eyes as he began to stomp in place. "WHY! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!" Round and round the Majin went as he tried to collect himself. Fake, fluffy hair sprouted from his dome, simply so Megis could tear it out. As he wiped the tears away he saw that Bing was now standing in front of her. It would seem he was trying to protect her, though all three knew that it wasn't much of a barrier to Megis.

"You... you'll both get it." He didn't know what else to say. Megis crawled into a ball, but not to cry. He pulled his legs up into his chest, and wrapped his arms around his body. He rolled back and forth for a moment, before launching himself into Bing.

"That's a saying that idiots have," Ramen retorted. "If there was any truth to it, then the world wouldn't view past great conquerors and warlords with such disgust."

Her stance was weak, but she managed to recover her lost staff. She was ready for her last stand now, but it might as well have been a walking stick for all the good it did her. She could only hope that her message would be heard by the right people.

"I gave you multiple chances to halt your course. I even gave you a chance to make it out of this with your precious Lookout and limited damage to your reputation. You turned every opportunity down again and again."

She fell into her usual fighting stance, as uneasy as that was now, expecting the next attack to come her way. Instead, the Majin hurled himself towards Bing, in a ball launched like a shotgun blast. She moved to intercept, but she wasn't nearly fast enough now.

"Stop..!"

But her protest would do no good. She couldn't even see what happened to the warrior after he was struck. She clenched her fist around the handle of her staff, anger finally beginning to boil over in her.

"Listen here--you stupid, useless--" she caught herself. "I was being polite before. You'll leave what's left of that boy to me, so I can bring him to a hospital. Then you'll get to sit here on your throne. The next message I send won't be to a few strong energy signatures--it'll be to every last living soul on the planet."

She glared, the unnerving red in her eye seeming to glint a little brighter.

"Do you want to roll the dice to see if I can really do it..?"

Ramen can't stop the attack! She opts to threaten Megis again.

It was over before he even registered it.

The pain crashed through his nerves, a roiling sea of agony as his eyes opened. He was floored, smashed through a tree and then some. In a heap among the dirt, he weakly looked up.

Ramen was alive. Angry, but alive. He’d accomplished something, at least. If even for a few moments, she was alive and he defended her.

He couldn’t move. Not an inch. Everything in him had shut down, and the pain had begun to collect in his chest. Something was broken. Everything? Maybe. He couldn’t tell.

As the pain radiated outward, his eyes forced themselves closed again, a pathetic wheeze the only sound he could make. A lung must have collapsed, or perhaps been pierced by a broken rib.

He couldn’t even shake his head in disappointment.

Before he passed out, he used the last ounce of Ki to focus on his chest, flooding his heart with a few extra, precious heartbeats. Surely he’d die soon, but at least it wouldn’t be so quick.

Slowly, surely, his senses finally faded out. Unconscious, or perhaps dead, he wasn’t sure. He couldn’t think either way.

Bing Gan was defeated.

Bing takes 370% damage! Wound acquired!

Megis slammed into Bing with such a fury that the two beings went flying in opposite directions. Megis was able to halt his flight mid-air, unfurling himself to get a view of his success. The boy was quite a ways away, looking near dead and... well, Megis didn't feel as happy as he would have liked. A time ago, what felt like eons, he had hoped to recruit Bing. Although he never mentioned any of his plans to the boy in their brief encounter, he did see a future there.

He hoped to counter Derry's own martial arts team with one of his own, with Bing being one of the members. That seems like a farce now. He had managed to turn one potential ally into two enemies, all within the span of a few minutes. Diplomacy was still clearly a weak spot for him. Where the hell was Alva when he needed her?

He started approaching the boy when the woman shot back into view. She was angry, and in a different way than before. Did she have some connection to the boy? Clearly there was some emotion there now; she had venom on her tongue. "What's left of him? Oh, well, when you put it like that..." Megis, emotionless now in his words, collapsed into a puddle. He slinked through the woman's legs and over to Bing, where an devious idea had sprouted in his mind.

Some of his kind had engaged in an act he had thus far ignored: absorption. He found the idea of someone else living on inside of him as... strange, yet he had to admit it did have it's advantages. The power gain couldn't be disputed, as well as the collection of knowledge that came with the body. Part of the reason he wanted to rebuild the Lookout was to increase his power, yet he found another opportunity to do so right in front of him...

Well. Bottom's up.

Megis, still in his puddle form, latched onto the unconscious body of Bing, and being the process of absorption. It only took a few moments for the body to be hidden entirely from view; now nothing more than a pink blob in the air. Slowly Megis seeped into his being, though he felt... resistance. This was his first time after all, and he was no expert on the process. He pushed, and pulled, and tried to drown out what was left of the boy, yet there was life still within.

"You... dammit..." Megis soon found himself feeling sick. The process wasn't anything like he had imagined, and now he wanted out. The pink prison soon receded, with Bing dropping to floor in front of Ramen while Megis backed away. He was on his knees, attempting to puke. "That... ugh.... I feel sick..." He couldn't deny the increase in strength, yet it wasn't complete absorption as he had hoped. And when he ran his hand over his head... was that hair sticking out!?

Megis struggled back to his feet and starred down Ramen. "You... want what's left? You can join him in the... afterlife, as soon as I regain my strength." Megis recoiled again, dropping to his knees to vomit. Would he ever get used to that?

Ramen stared as Bing was drawn into the Majin, curling her fist and preparing to blast the monster with everything she had left. But when he seemed to effectively throw up the weakened martial artist, she snapped into action--albeit in a different way. She aimed a blast right past where Bing was laying, potentially catching him with some light burns at the cost of kicking up another storm of dust.

"You really don't take well to being told no, do you? He probably would have forgiven you if you'd listened."

She snapped forward at that, grabbing the downed Bing and aiming to hurl herself clear off the Lookout with him. She fired another rain of decoy blasts behind her, feeling as though the energy was shearing out of her veins with each ill-advised blast. Moments later, she allowed her energy to drop to new depths as she plummeted down.

She didn't need to fly: she just needed Megis to stay sick long enough for her to get away. Whatever he had taken from Bing, whatever had caused hair to sprout out of his pink head, the important thing was that the young fighter had the chance to live another day. To fight another day, even. She didn't want to risk a last-stand, not knowing whether the Majin would have wanted to finish the fighter off or not.

TWC: 3,996

Ramen tries to carry Bing to safety. She drops her power level to minimum after causing a mess and fleeing!

This is an ATTEMPTED EXIT that won't interrupt the absorb, but will carry the wounded/absorbed Bing out of the thread.

As expected, Ramen still wasn't interested in fighting. While Megis was attempting to recover his strength after the poor first absorption attempt, she quickly grabbed the boy's body and made off, leaping away while firing off a few more blasts to try and cover herself. Even without them, Megis wouldn't be in much shape to give chase. He still found himself trying to configure this new found strength; something about it didn't quite align yet.

And so he let her go. Maybe he could have gone after her and attempted to end things, but why bother? She had already gotten word out to others that the Lookout had been rebuilt by some evil figure, which meant that all he had done was for naught... which meant he needed a new plan now.

He expected that the people who heard her message would likely be coming soon, to check things out for themselves. Once they got a glimpse at the restored Lookout they'd have the evidence they needed. His name was now known, to those who were capable of hearing her message. He shouldn't have played with his food so much; if he had struck her with his most powerful attack to begin things then none of this would have happened!

Looking around at the mostly restored Lookout now, Megis... it soon dawned on him what must be done. The Lookout, as much as he had fought to claim it for his own, was the most damning evidence that Ramen had. If he tried to keep it, to loom above the rest as she had said, then the Earthlings who came here would have all the proof they needed that Megis was just Ramen had told them he was. Which really only left one thing for him to do.

Megis walked over to the center of the Lookout, and admired the work he had put into it. It would have been beautiful, if he could have seen it fully completed... He waited in the center, waited until he was sure that Ramen was out of sight of what he was about to do, and then he waited a bit more just to be safe. Once he was sure that Ramen and Bing had traveled safely away, he slowly hovered up above the Lookout, and began gathering his energy.

The restored Lookout was the proof that Ramen needed to show him guilty, so Megis had to get rid of it. With a heavy heart Megis rained fire down upon his finest achievement, blowing to pieces the near finished work. The hell fire he rained down left the structure in a near identical form to what it had been before he arrived, but he decided that it wasn't enough. He rested for a moment, recharged his energy and then fired again, destroying whatever rubble and debris was left over.

The power, the magic that was here... if he couldn't have it, then no one could. He wanted to destroy every last trace of the Lookout, to forget about this whole wretched plan. It was the only way he could attempt to insulate himself from what had happened here. When the Humans came to look about the new Lookout of Megis they'd find nothing; they'd find even less than what they had before. Let it be no different from the rest of the forest.

When his destruction had finally come to an end, Megis lay flat on the ground and wallowed for a moment. Not only had he not gained the Lookout, but he had spent a large amount of energy attempting to fix it, only to spend another large amount of energy destroying it. A mostly wasteful day it had been... and now he was stuck with a new hairdo. Megis grabbed the thick black mane that lined his head and attempted to pull at it, only to find himself in an immense amount of pain. What did the Humans use to get rid of theirs?

Apparently that was going to be something he had to learn. As soon as he figured out what it was he was going to do next. He obviously needed to keep working on his campaign, but maybe he should stay away from the East for a while. He knew nothing about this Raman, but expected that she'd continue to be a thorn in his side. Assuming that she lived somewhere out here, he thought it best to head out in the opposite direction: west.

Not only had West City been a place lightly campaigning by Megis, but there was another, quite magical place that came to mind out there. Perhaps a place even better suited for his purposes than the Lookout was...

Megis gives up on his plans to restore the Lookout, and instead destroys his work
