Barracuda had been traveling through the various neighborhoods of Central City, looking for noble duties to earn his keep. He saw a posting on a bulletin board near King's Castle that the Orange Star Academy was looking for professors for extracurricular activities for the students. Cuda definitely had the Castle on his radar as far as a place to politic and make connections, but he decided to investigate the posting first instead, and put one foot in front of the other. Who knows, maybe he could meet another ally who was also looking to pass knowledge onto the youths -- someone with similar intentions as himself.
After spending the afternoon flying through the air, he slowly landed in front of the Orange Star Academy. "I haven't been anywhere near a formal institution such as this one in ages," he thought to himself. As chilly and stoic as he may have seemed on the outside, there was an endearing pang of warm nervousness creeping up his midsection. "I'm in no position to be a role model to these damned kids..." he thought. There was always something to learn from everybody though, especially a universally renowned battle tested warrior such as himself. The wealth of knowledge and experiences that Barracuda had in his mind, body and spirit were enough to teach generations, even at his young age of 27 Earth years. If he didn't want to teach violence, he could offer plenty in meditative/inner studies.
He walked past a field where young children were playing fútbol and laughing amongst eachother, which made him crack a smile. Teenagers hung out in the middle of the courtyard, teasing, talking and flirting as students that age would typically do. Cuda made his way up a staircase and through a large set of doors, into the main Orange Star Facility. Carrying the posting he found near King's Castle, he walked up to the secretary.
"Welcome to Orange Star Academy! How may I help you this morning?" the young woman asked.
"Hey there, how's it going? I came across a posting inquiring about extracurricular arts teachings here at the academy. I'm very well versed in martial arts as well as spiritual studies and figured I could offer my expertise to some of the older students," Barracuda responded.
"Ah, great -- the Orange Open Teacher Call program! Wait right here while I call our senior advisor who can walk you through the necessary administrative processes," she said, picking up a phone and making a quick call.
Barracuda waited patiently for a few moments before a large burly man in a suit opened a nearby door.
"Step into my office, pal!" the burly Earthling man exclaimed. Cuda walked into the office and the door shut behind him.
"My name is Mr. Omoshiroi, and I'm the senior advisor of extracurricular activities here at The Orange Star Academy. Nice to meet you! What should I call you?" the earthling asked.
"Everybody calls me Barracuda," the Gemoonian responded.
"What are you looking to teach our students, Mr. Barracuda? What is your area of expertise? We actually have an opening in the next 45 minutes for guest teachers at our college prep-academia level. You would be teaching students between the ages of 17 and 19 years old," Mr. Omoshiroi said.
"I'm an extremely decorated martial artist, trained heavily in the utilization of what you all know as ki energy. I've battled in wars and tournaments alike. I hail from the planet Gemoon, and I've studied for years in the practice of mastering one's self under the monks and sages of the Gemoonian Temples. I can definitely teach the students some fighting techniques, as well as the cultural knowledge of my ancestors," Barracuda responded.
"I can sense your power level...You're extremely strong, for one. Also, through my heightened senses of empathy, I can read your intentions. You're telling the truth! I can feel in your being that you've seen war and it's softened your heart. Usually I would put an applicant through many an obstacle course before I let them anywhere near our students but something makes me want to offer you an opportunity here. How about you run a course for us today? Our Zeni-checks are as good as anybody elses and our students need to experience sparring partners and senseis with power and energy such as yours if they're going to be ready to battle in the outside world. This will be a trial run, and if you decide to come back, the pay will double. You interested? Follow me," the senior advisor said.
Barracuda was completely taken aback at how simple it was for him to be offered this opportunity, but he wasn't going to turn away from the synchronicity taking place. He knew divine timing was at play. He followed Mr. Omoshiroi down a long hallway, into a huge gymnasium, where dozens of students of varying size and shape were in athletic gears and gi's, chatting amongst themselves. There were also a few other adult warriors present, some to spectate, some to help and participate. Everybody seemed to stop and look when Cuda entered the room though...
The room gradually got silent as the warrior walked in with the senior advisor.
"Hello," Barracuda said. "I'm Barracuda, and I'm here to teach you all some techniques today. I'm a former mercenary, and a warrior who has fought in battles across many galaxies. I've seen many forms of combat and destruction. But I want to take what I've learned and teach you some abilities you can use to not only defend yourselves, but master yourselves." He spoke to the gymnasium with such a calm confidence that the students knew they were seeing the real deal.
"Who died and made you the baddest on Earth?" an onlooker said. An alien in his twenties wearing a leather jacket amongst his group of friends laughed and attempted to test Barracuda's resolve.
"Are you a student, or are you here looking to teach...or just a spectator?" Barracuda responded.
"I'm here to kick your ass! You ain't so tough!" the alien said, laughing with his friends.
"How about we put your theory to the test? I'll go easy on you...what's your name?" Cuda said.
The alien hesitated and looked around at his friends before pointing at himself as if he wasn't sure who Cuda was talking to.
"Me?! I'm...I'm Chris."
There was no escaping the spotlight he had now placed on himself. Chris then slowly walked up to Barracuda and immediately they squared off in front of one another.
"Show me what you've got, Chris."
Chris ran wildly towards Barracuda and lunged toward him, screaming. Cuda responded by utilizing Magejikan, and created a portal which he then walked through and immediately positioned himself behind the young delinquent. He chopped Chris in the neck, and sent him flying across the gymnasium. The entire group of students who was present looked on in awe.
"Don't worry guys, he's only sleeping," Barracuda said with a smile.
"Now, who's ready to learn?" Mr. Omoshiroi asked, laughing.
The students cheered and drew closer to Barracuda, eager to learn now that they had seen the graceful warrior in action.
