Erebos’ eyes widened at the sudden outburst. He thought Lottus the rough type for sure, but to lash out this strongly? He let the theatrics play out, keeping silent while the Saiyan explained the situation to its fullest. What exactly to make of this situation…
Well, first of all, he couldn’t help but laugh.
It was a tiny giggle, though the sound of a stifled chortle could be heard beneath the surface. ”Very intimidating. Do you stomp around like a toddler every time someone mentions her name? Kinda sucks that you’re the one I’m talking to; seems she had the better head.”
Damn. He had to open his mouth, eh? But he just couldn’t resist! Regardless of intentions, Erebos was a trickster at heart. Teasing was part of his DNA, just the same as battle was for a Saiyan.
”Notice how I got you to correct me, though? You’ve given up just about everything you’ve done since you’ve been dead, and all I had to do was get you riled up.” The Shadowmancer clicked his tongue. ”And I’m not even trying that hard to get anything out of you. Imagine what the others snuck out of that arrogant blowhole attached to your face.”
That was certainly pushing it. Even so, Erebos didn’t break his composure; Lottus was trying to be intimidating, but he couldn’t yield. To strike first, or even to act in defense, was to admit defeat in this mental spar.
Even with the tension rising, he rolled his eyes in stark defiance of the coming fury. ”You really aren’t listening. I don’t want you to do good— I want you to do what YOU want to do! All you know is war and bloodshed and misery.” Admittedly, he now had a secondary motive in mind. If he could keep this powerhouse out of the hands of Tsuya and Vale, that’d certainly be a net positive.
”You’re a saint compared to me, little night-light. I’ve razed planets, rended souls from the afterlife to erase them permanently, because I was BORED.” A flare of black mist came from the undersides of his fingernails and the roots of his hair. ”I’ve popped the skulls of kings and drank the slime and viscera on a dare. Purged civilizations and scrubbed their history clean out. If anyone knows anything about causing pain, it certainly isn’t you.”
He could feel the pull to show off. To lord over this mortal like his kin would do. Another swirl of black fog escaped, this time from the creases in his lips. When his power flowed, it was like the strongest sugar rush imaginable. Even with the pressure to turn this conversation into a match of flexed muscles, he held back as best he could. He really did want to help this guy, even if his thick head made it hard.
”If I wanted to bend you to my whim, I’d have been on my best behavior. No taunts, no teases. Plenty of appeals to your massive ego and perhaps a massage to your shoulder, with its oh-so-many chips.”
With a quick motion, his fingers crossed, and with it came a portal like the one before. Larger than the last, but still swirling with dark power. It hovered above his head ominously.
”Don’t expect me to cry if you go blowing up any planets. I might end up fighting you for fun when we get back out there, but trust me, I really couldn’t possibly be less impressed with your lack of drive.”
