Having spent an exorbitant amount of time city slicking, Jinx decided a change of scenery was in order. She had only wandered Kashvar territory briefly. Once when she first woke up within the depths of the Aster Forest, and a second time when she raided the chargestone mines. It was a bit unfair to them! Their land was pretty, colorful, and diverse unlike the endless sandy expanse of the Sahra Expanse. Opposed to the blue of the forest and yellow of the plains, the mountains were green. Like her! And desolate save for pockets of independent villages and guard posts.
<Hey!! It's me :p> <Found a cool place to do our training sesh> <I'll send u the coords in a sec> <o bring some snacks if you can pls>
Content with her messages Jinx reabsorbed her phone, preparing the area for Delia's inevitable arrival. The Majin had claimed a barren natural plateau, oddly smooth and large enough to accommodate any advanced movement during their fight. Jinx had taken the liberty of materializing a canopy, chairs, tables, cupboards, and even a bright TV stuffed near the face of the mountain. While sparring was the main purpose for this meeting, she figured hanging out would be cool too!
Ever since their last meeting, Delia had been eagerly waiting for Jinx to contact her for their next meeting, the young woman pacing around. Heck, she'd even wander about with her scouter actually on most of the time, something that the Saiyan typically didn't do. Even if it wasn't too cumbersome, it did obscure her lovely face! Thankfully, it wouldn't take a super long time before she got a notification from the Majin! That alone was enough to put a smile on her face- but she opted not to waste too much time from there. Instead, the Saiyan woman would grab her lovely little knapsack, stuff it with a handful of assorted snacks and prepare to make her way out to the location, sending a quick message as she departed from her quarters, <OMW!>.
It'd take a fair bit of time, but Delia would eventually arrive at the location. It had been a little while since she'd last been out this way, but it wouldn't take too much time for her to locate her friend amongst the rocky terrain. As she flew on in and descended onto the weirdly smooth spot Jinx was located. "Hello, hey, hi!" Delia greets, waving to Jinx. "Hopefully I didn't make you wait too long!" She blinks a bit, turning her attention towards the assortment of furniture. "Oh! Wasn't expecting all of this stuff out here! Are there gonna be, like.. spectators or something?"
Regardless of the response, Delia made her way towards the closest table and began unloading the contents of her pack onto it. There was a few bottles of some sort of foreign, fruit flavored soda, a few bags of chips and candies. "I brought some snacks, too! Nothing too fancy, but.. should be enough! Maybe!"
"Hello Delia! Or maybe I should say 'Nova Purple' to get used to it...? Nah. Not when we're just chillin', that's like a business thing." Jinx would corral the Saiyan toward the main table, prompting her to splay the assortment of snacks upon it. "Spectators? Oh, nah, it's just for us. I didn't wanna have you come all this way for JUST a short training sesh, so I made a funky setup! What do you think?" Jinx immediately honed in on a bag of sour gummies, arm stretching out to nab it with haste. "These are some of my favorites!"
The Majin immediately popped a handful into her mouth, even taking the time to CHEW for once. "Oh! Yeah. We should probably get the fighting out of the way BEFORE the snacking and relaxing." Reluctantly re-sealing the candy, Jinx tossed it before marching further out unto the open-top plateau. "Alright! So I don't remember how it is for you flesh n' blood folks. A lot of you stretch or something before physical activity?" Jinx paused, remembering something important: "Oh yeah! No idea if you can sense my Kili, but this is gonna be just a basic laid-back sparring sesh. Just wanna see your form and style rather than your power."
"Nova Purple? Hmm.. well! Call me whatever! Don't mind much, as long as it's not, like.. mean or anything!" Delia nods a few times. She lets out a quiet hum, finding herself at the snack table for the time being. It seemed as though they weren't getting straight into the sparring match, but that was fine! If Jinx needed a bit of time, then Delia was willing to let her get some snacks in her tummy. "Glad you like the stuff, yup! The place does look nice, just wasn't expecting it or anything. I'm fine with hanging out and stuff, too!"
Just as she was about to snag a seat while she let Jinx snack away, she'd stop. "Oh. Yeah, yeah! We can get to the fighting first!" She nods some, shuffling back over towards the open area. "Some of us stretch, some don't! Well.. only the dumb ones don't! The smart ones make sure they're fully flexible and stuff before going into a fight, otherwise they risk pulling a muscle or something! Helps get the heart pumping a bit, too!" Speaking of stretching, Delia would begin doing just that. Her arms were risen above her head, brought behind her back and spun around, ensuring she was ready to go for their match. After that, she'd hop around a bit and go about doing a variety of other stretches.
"Mmhm, mmhm. Laid back. Got it! Easy enough." Nod, nod. "Kinda curious how you fight and stuff, too! Probably would've gotten to see if I hadn't stopped that lady from attacking you and your friends." A deep breath in was taken. "Welp! Just let me know when you're ready and we can start."
"I'd never be mean to you! Even if you deserved it! Unless you betrayed me. Then I'd be SUPER mean... but you'd never do that anyway. We're the best of friends!" Jinx had thin patience for anyone trying to pull wool over her eyes, and while her critical people skills had worked so far in recruiting members who weren't liable to switch sides at the jingle of a coin purse, she had to remain vigilant. A single bad apple could spoil the bunch.
Jinx watched Delia 'stretch' with mild curiosity, arms swinging back and forth idly. Majins were always limber and lithe on command, but she supposed having a calcium-based solid support system could get rigid if left immobile for long enough. "I don't think you would've seen us fight for long if you hadn't..." Zuqetta could've splattered her across the wall like a bug if things had come to blows. Jinx thanked her lucky stars that Delia and Salvo were quick to defuse things with smart words and granola bars.
"Uhm. I'm ready whenever, too!" A metallic bat formed in Jinx's hands, the Majin twirling it around stylishly. "I'll pull my punches! Or swings, I guess. Love taps only!" She'd rush forward, flipping into the air before coming down with a blisteringly fast overhead strike!
"Betray you?" Delia rose a brow slightly. "Hm! You're right! I'd never do anything like that. I'd eat my own shoes before betraying a friend!" She nods her head a handful of times to affirm what she said. The Saiyan woman was fairly loyal, especially to those she liked. Since she had arrived on Konats, Jinx had been nothing but nice to her, so Delia saw no reason to even think about betraying the Majin at any point.
Eventually her stretching would come to an end, Delia feeling pumped and ready to go. It had been a while since she'd last gotten in a good sparring match, so this would surely help her get an idea of what she needed to improve on later on down the road. A quiet snicker left her as Jinx spoke on the stuff that happened back at the cave. "Honestly.. wasn't expecting that lady to calm down at all! I was fully prepared to get my butt whopped. Glad it ain't turn out that way, mmhm!"
Soon enough, Delia would cease all movement and stop talking as Jinx summoned forth a metal bat. A number of blinks were sent the Majin's way, but she wouldn't have much time to stand stunned as that bat was soon poised to come slamming down atop her dome! "Wah!!" A swift backspring was done in order for her to get out away from that darned bat.
"I didn't think you were gonna be using something like that! You better be careful!" Delia called out as she flipped away. As soon as she had regained her footing, Delia lunged forth and aimed to send her fist flying straight towards Jinx's chest.
Given Delia's power, Jinx didn't expect the attack to land. Still, to see her speed in action? It was awesome! The weapon met air, whistling as it hit the stone ground... and stopped in its tracks. "Don't worry sis! It's a magic construct, so I can control the force behind it." Jinx would never risk seriously hurting Delia in something silly like a spar. Even if the Saiyan's Kili was triple hers! With no slowdown from the impact, the Majin sprung forward into a skipping motion, tracking Delia down and attempting a sideways swing to knock her further inward and away from the ledge.
"Hey! Are you still interested in the pop star scene? I know we just started up a merc group together, but that doesn't mean all old dreams must die!" Hit or miss, she'd hop back to a defensive position, bat smacking into her open palm. "Not that you gotta tell me if it's personal, but what were you up to before we met? The singing thing felt like it was your goal and... gosh, I'd feel really bad if I was the one who took it away from you with the Nova corps." Delia deserved to fly free like any Saiyan would.
"Right, right! Countin' on you not to put a dent in me." Though, she doubted Jinx would actually go through with any intent to do any harm. This was just a simple spar, after all. At the end of the day, it was just a way for the two of them to further themselves a little bit. A huff of air left the Saiyan woman, simply watching for a moment as Jinx recovered from her attack. As that bat came swinging towards her again, the Saiyan's arms rose, forearms used to block the incoming blow. She'd be sent sliding back a fair bit, but it wasn't enough to send her tumbling away.
Delia shook her arms about for a brief moment, a brow raised at the question posed. "I ain't giving up on it!" Delia says, shaking her head a bit. "Just 'cause I'm doing this stuff now, that doesn't mean I have to stop pursuing my goals. I can do both at the same time! Probably! So, don't feel bad." She'd just need to find a good balance between the two, is all. "Before coming here I was.. hm. Not doing a whole lot! Just kinda traveled a bit, tried to grow my audience and become better at singing- though, doesn't seem like that worked all too well."
As much as she could've just stood around and chatted about this sorta thing for a while, the two of them were sparring. So, since Jinx had taken up a defensive stance of some sort, Delia would kick off the ground and close the distance between the two as quickly as she could. A hand would shoot forth, not aiming for Jinx in any way, instead aiming to grab onto the metallic bat. If able to do so, she'd send a foot flying towards the Majin's stomach to kick them away and potentially disarm Jinx.
Jinx's weapon rang hollow as it hit the blocking forearm. The imparted kinetic energy was enough to force some movement from Delia but widely dispersed enough to prevent any severe bruises or internal damage. "I'd never put a dent in someone as cute as you!" She gasped in mock shock. "To be honest, I dunno if I even can!"
The Saiyan's affirmation helped. "That's good! Maybe we can still work together on that, too. Get some practice in, make some records, and maybe - eventually - live shows. I mean, it'd be a double dip between fame for us at that point. Mercenaries moonlighting as talented pop stars! Though, uh, I suppose we'd ALSO have to worry about annoying fans and bitter vengeful rivals from both sides of the spectrum."
With Delia reaching for her weapon, Jinx was happy to release it without a fight, hopping back again as the Saiyan had no leverage point to catch her. "Big tip about weapon wielders!" The bat dissolved in Delia's hands, reforming good as new in Jinx's. "MOST of them can recall tech-based stuff or make more magic-based stuff. Disarming is only a temporary distraction." A mild one at that. Many were cognizant enough to also have passable CQC skills without their weapon of choice.
A quiet snicker was let out at the mention of her being "cute", though she wouldn't comment on it. It was, however, true that her own power was greater than Jinx's at the moment. Still, that didn't mean that she was going to let her guard down at all. One wrong slip up and she could've been on the ground! A quiet hum left the young woman for a brief moment, shaking her arms around. "Yup! We can work on some stuff, sometime! Just let me know when you wanna. I'm not really worried about any sorta rivals! Not like many of them are mercenaries and super talented singers!" Nod, nod. "Heck, being stars like that might even help bring us a bit of work at some point!"
Getting the bat away from Jinx seemed.. oddly easy! She'd swing it around for a brief moment, a smile on Delia's face. She prepared to lunge forth again to wail on Jinx with her own weapon, but just as she was going to, the bat poofed away! "What the!?" She blinks a few times, looking down at her hands. And when she turned her attention back to the Majin, they seemingly had the bat again! "Guh.. that's gotta be cheating!" Delia pouts a bit for a brief moment. "Ah well! Never been good with weapons like that! I've always preferred punching and blowing things up- though.. can't really blow things up in spar." Delia closed the distance once again, another rather simple strike aimed straight at the Majin's face.
"Well, I'm generally a pretty available person. Not like I have much to do outside of the friend circle and occasional jobs." Jinx spent most of her time drifting between restaurants, contract work, and meeting with one of the Novas to do something - inane or otherwise. She'd gotten a solid grasp on their fighting styles, confident that she'd be able to work together seamlessly in combat. Though the issue of cross-compatibility with OTHER members that didn't have magic mimicry was a tiny bit concerning. Maybe they'd have to make time for a group training day.
The Majin giggled deviously as Delia was taken aback by the disappearing bat, twirling hers around playfully. "Well! Even if it is cheating, you better get used to it! Every weapon wielder worth their salt is gonna do it." Though she never expected Saiyans to be well-versed in weaponry anyway. They were more fist and explosion oriented, much like Delia admitted to being. The aspiring singer's fist would find purchase in Jinx's face, sinking into it like a sponge as her reformed bat swung for Delia's exposed side! As soon as the first was removed, her face would pop back into place like nothing had happened.
"Okay, okay! We can do it sometime soon, then. Maybe.. after all the Nova Crops setup stuff is taken care of. Not in any huge rush for it or anything!" Delia nods some. Even if Jinx had become busy with any of that stuff later on down the line, she could always start pursuing things on her own. Doing things with other people just made time more enjoyable., which was why Jinx agreeing to do some stuff together made the Saiyan like them quite a bit early on.
As her fist managed to make contact with the Majin's face, Delia was rather proud of the outcome. Sadly, it didn't seem to phase Jinx very much. To make things even worse, the Saiyan soon found a bat slamming into her side. She let out a little "oof" as she found herself sliding away from the Majin. "Guh.. forgot you guys are super squishy." Delia sighs a bit. Still, she'd quickly regain her footing but would refrain from charging in again. Instead, she'd simply wait for Jinx to charge at her, instead.
A quiet hum left Delia as a question popped into her head. "Ya' know.. aside from, y'know.. you and I, who else is actually apart of the group? Know you talked about prospective folks before, but has anyone else actually went ahead and signed on?"
"I wouldn't be too down about it," Jinx brushed her face carefully to ensure it'd reformed right. "We're not invincible. Best to make sure you know that now! Regenerating and reforming from stuff takes a lot of energy to pull off, especially if I gotta do it a lot during a battle. Hit me enough times and I'll go down just like anyone else. Majins just don't have to worry about slowing down from exhaustion, losing a limb, or bleeding out!" Carbon-based skeletal lifeforms were ingenious for making cheap mass produced people, but they often made for poor high-powered individual fighters.
Jinx had planned to take the bait and resume her attacks, but paused as her friend asked an important question. "Oh! We have Striker and Salvo. Striker is this short but really fast and fiery anthro hedgehog type Alien, green fur. Salvo is a tall blue pirate lady with a funny accent! I haven't found anyone else who I trust enough to invite to the main group sadly, but I think four is still a great number!" Four elite warriors was enough to threaten entire planets if they were synchronized. Not that Jinx had any particular aspirations for total world domination yet.
"Hm.. well! Good to know, I could at least beat you- not that I've have to, of course." Delia nods a few times. She wasn't really too bummed about her failed attack, really. Had this been a real fight, she may have been, but this was just a friendly little sparring match. Nothing too serious. "Guess you Majin folk have us beat in a few ways, yup." If Delia could take punches like that to the face, she'd be unstoppable! Well, not really, but it'd definitely feel like it. A deep breath in was taken, the Saiyan taking a brief moment of rest as she thought of a new strategy.
The answer to her question was given, the Saiyan woman nodding her head slowly for a brief moment. "Hmm. So just four of us, for now? Not too bad for a pretty new group, I think! Don't think I've seen Striker at all, but.. yeah, I've seen the blue lady. She was the one at the cavern, yeah?" Delia asked- though, she wouldn't wait at all for a response before going through with her next attack. A small blast of energy was conjured up in the palm of her hand, the Saiyan woman proceeding to chuck it straight at the Majin's torso. Of course, she'd hold back as to not cause any real damage to her friend. Immediately after she had lobbed the blast, Delia would break off into a sprint right behind it.
"Yeah! You could beat me up whenever you wanted! ... I dunno if that's a good thing, but seeing as we're pals, it doesn't matter. And, uh, I wasn't trying to make myself seem BETTER than you either! Saiyans are incredible with their ability to rapidly gain Kili - and their fierce determination against all odds!" Majins were just lucky enough to avoid the issues that plagued all flesh and blood beings. Even Demons and Devils bled. Jinx got so caught up in the conversation that she forgot this was a spar. The Majin's bat lowered unconsciously as Jinx nodded.
"Yup! Four awesome and strong people all agreeing to work together! All of you got along with me so I hope you can get along with each other. Our group is centered around camaraderie first and foremost." The cavern? "The Amp Caverns? Yeah! She's a Heran. I heard they were natural rivals to Saiyans or something, but not too many folk put stock in that sorta talk." Jinx blinked as an energy blast torn a small hole through her unprepared body. "Whoops." The injury resealed itself immediately. "Say, why don't you demonstrate one of your big cool techniques for me? Aim off the side of our little platform so it doesn't damage anything."
