CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
This, however, is not one of those tales.
Many eons ago, at a point in time indescribable by any being, Shinjin emerged from the impossibility of nothingness— among the first to exist, in a sense they were life ’created’ from nothing. The universe continued to expand, many more beings emerged, and a lot of what would come to be fell into place.
In the coming millenia, magic would be studied by trillions of races, each of them as unique as the those that followed, each uncovering an aspect of magic unknown to those that preceded them.
Of course, it was not all sunshine and roses. Some circles of mysticism were driven mad by legends, myths and rumors that began to spread regarding the Shinjin, putting them on a misguided pedestal of objective purity; as something to strive for, something to emulate… As something to create.
One such group of shady and secretive magical fanatics; simply known as ’Griseo Arcanum’ had chosen to aim for exactly that. Their methods were detached from morality for the most part, for a lot of them their goal was more important than the way they reached it. Members of Griseo Arcanum would lie, cheat, steal and murder as they saw necessary to obtain the knowledge and resources they wanted.
Among these were several preserved bodies of magical origin, multiple spell scrolls, scores of runic knowledge, and a pair of Potara earrings which were taken by force.
They had all of the pieces to their theoretical puzzle bar one. There was a need for a suitable base or focal point, a template of sorts. They wanted to take a fruit from a Kaiju Tree in Heaven, and not just any fruit would do, it had to be perfect for the experiment.
There were multiple attempts to secure a fruit, many failed either because Griseo Arcanum were thwarted in those particular efforts, but a sizable number of attempts succeeded. Even with the decent sample size acquired, difficulties presented themselves in experimentation, and none of the individual fruit produced the desired result.
Griseo Arcanum were at their wits end until an accidental breakthrough wherein all of the stolen fruit were used at the same time. The collective energy and potential life force of these fruits were funnelled together into one through a complex magical rune circle. This newly empowered fruit could be precisely what they needed. After running several tests, it was time to put everything together.
Using a series of successive spells and three layer interlocking rune circles, the stolen Potara earrings were modified to absorb ambient energy and life force in order to give the organization’s creation massively enhanced longevity. This modification was tested on the preserved bodies, and proved successful once all of the bodies were absorbed into the earrings.
Now, it was the moment of truth. The empowered fruit was once again placed in a multilayered series of rune circles alongside the modified Potara earrings. Magic in its purest state rocked the secret lair of the organization, so much so that the rune circles began acting of their own accord— growing, shifting, changing. The experiment quickly went out of control and the members of Griseo Arcanum that were present for it had no idea what was happening until it was far too late.
Under the immense pressure of this magic, the secret lair was torn asunder before seemingly imploding, with only a few alive as a result. The experiment was then deemed a failure, and this particular base of operations was abandoned.
However, unbeknownst to those that left this place behind, something stirred in its collapsed and ruined remains. Deep in the darkest sanctum— one room remained standing, with runic inscriptions now burned into the walls. In the very center of the charred room was a humanoid figure, standing so perfectly, deathly still.
This was the result of Griseo Arcanum and their combined endeavours; a magically conjured living being. The entity was a pale purple, it had pointed long ears that the modified Potara were now hanging off of, messy black hair and what seemed to be endless pits of nothingness for eyes. In addition, it looked emaciated, unhealthy, strangely incomprehensible. Whoever this now was, it was clear that something wasn’t quite right with them, as if they weren’t fully ’there’ so to speak.
Eventually, this newly created being would begin to move. At first it was simply shambling around the room, twitching every now and then with sudden snapping movements. At some point it started taking scraps of fabric that remained, fashioning it all into some wearable mess of an outfit.
Just suddenly and explosively as the entity came to life, it blasted through the ruins and out into the open world, its goals and ambitions unknown to all but itself...

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE:
[ART PENDING]
Nervan is truly 5’0”/152.4cm in an exact measurement without any form of deviation. Nervan is a pale purple, gaunt and seemingly only skin and bone. Like the Shinjin they are primarily based on, Nervan has pointed long ears that their modified cursed Potara hang from. They have messy black hair and what seem to be endless pits of sunken nothingness for eyes. Their outfit, for lack of a better description, is a freakish mess of haphazardly fused scraps of clothing, all ragged and fraying— A purple v-neck shirt, one scuffed fingerless glove on their left hand, torn dark grey shorts and striped grey socks are the best Nervan has to work with at the moment...
BACKGROUND:
The creation of life from nothing. A goal that a disturbing amount of people aspire to achieve. That isn’t to say such a thing is impossible, far from it in fact. Quite a lot of experiments in this field succeed under their individual parameters...

COMBAT INFORMATION
TECHNIQUES:
|| Offense || Light || Deer Antler Jab
Nervan engages their foe through a combo of palm strikes and jabs, ultimately finishing with a double forward jab with an accompanying kiai to launch their opponent away. Their hand and finger movements may be intended to mimic the strikes of a deer’s antlers.
Power: 20%
KP Cost: 1 KP
Variants: N/A
|| Offense || Light || Demise Laser
To perform the technique, Nervan extends an arm and fires a small, thin, very fast and concentrated yet jagged black laser-like beam from a finger of their choosing, which hones in on down and grates the opponent’s skin in a way that causes a vicious laceration. Nervan is able to fire the attack very quickly, while maintaining good aim.
Power: 20%
KP Cost: 2 KP
Variants: Bleed
|| Offense || Medium || Hyperbolic Pattern
Nervan creates a ball of, very literal, nonsense energy. This ball, jittering and staticy, flickers wildly between various textures and patterns. This ball of ridiculousness has the capability to combine with other attacks that can do something similar, and if it is the focus technique, the form that it takes along with texture and patterning, varies wildly.
Power: 50%
KP Cost: 4 KP
Variants: Merging
[10k PL] || Offense || Heavy || Inescapable Responsibility
Nervan lifts a hand above themselves, causing what may or may not be a rift into some other space, conjuring a wispy haze of energy that eventually forms into something generally unnerving or genuinely weird to those who look upon it. The target of this technique on the other hand typically sees something more strange than others. Whether that is a visual representation of that character’s trauma, nagging fears, broken promises or something else is up to the player, as is how seeing such things would affect their character.
Power: 60%
KP Cost: 6 KP
Variants: Homing, Bleed
|| Offense || Light Sparking || Hou-ouhou
Nervan cups their hands and draws them to the side, concentrating energy into a single point within their hands. This forms a menacing red and black ball of energy that looks to be burning like an eternal fire. Their hands are then thrust forward to shoot out a streaming, powerful beam of screaming energy that sounds like the call of a distorted legendary bird. The blast can also be used, generally under extenuating circumstances, with just one arm or even the feet. Oftentimes, Nervan utters the phrase "Hou-ou-HOU!" as they charge and release the attack.
Power: 30%
KP Cost: 1 KP
Variants: Preparation
Utility Technique || With or Without Voice
Nervan’s facial expression is seemingly eternally neutral without any shift in it whatsoever, their mouth seems to be closed at all times, and their eyes maintain that sunken vacant stare. However, they still seem to be capable of speech, whether it is a telepathic projection into real sound or masterful ventriloquism beyond compare, it is unclear.
Utility Technique || Uncanny Waltz
Nervan’s movements are often sudden, unpredictable, jagged, mistimed or wildly absurd. Instead of looking like they are walking, they can look like they are stood still while also locomoting, seemingly looking in one direction may instead truly be them looking in the opposite direction, etc.
Utility Technique || Without A Shadow
For reasons unknown shadows that should exist as a result of them simply don’t. Nervan does not cast a shadow whatsoever, nor does any energy or construct they create through abnormal means. Shadows can be cast on them still, as normal however.
