His guile succeeded. Megis, the lowly Majin, had fooled Derry and the other halfwits into thinking he was dead; he was far from it. Having reformed on the other face of Mount Paozu, Megis had just one goal in mind: take down Derry. It wasn't a goal he could accomplish with brute strength alone, as proven by their encounter on the Paozu, but there were other means to this end. Megis was going to strike at the thing which Derry held to be most dear: his presidency.

The election was due to take place in less than a year from now, so Megis still had plenty of time to make a run. Of course he had never ran for public office before, and hardly knew what the procedures were. Still, he had the motivation, and determination to make it happen; all he needed now was some support.

The first thing on the list of things to do was to find somewhere to work out of. Megis could have gone with his home at the ruins of the lookout, but there was far too isolated to really work for this sort of thing. Instead Megis choose a run down building in the heart of South City, opposite from Derry's home in the north. It would have been nice to find a place more appealing, but Megis didn't have the financial resources that Derry did. He did have magic to fall back on, but even then with his limited training he could only conjure so much.

Megis would drape a purple banner across the face of the building with a simple phrase written across: Majin Megis for 1023! Step Inside to Learn More! This campaign was going to be about as grassroots as one could be. Thankfully, there were always those on the outside such as Megis looking to make an impact on the world, and plenty of people he was sure would dislike Derry's policies. All he had to do now was wait to see who'd enter the door.

As far as looking for work went, Alva didn't exactly have a whole lot of leads, yet. She'd talked her options over with Jackie, but as she'd also discussed with the red haired woman, she kind of needed a proper college degree if she wanted to actually get into any serious career, and that was still a few years away. She kinda needed money now, though, and with how many freaks there were out there, robbing banks wasn't a super viable option until she upgraded Ted some more. But that also required money, so... Alva was kind of stuck.

One thing she had been trying was seeing if Derry was really as untouchable as he'd set himself up to be. She didn't have anything personally against the guy, more just that she was afraid of what kind of damage he could do to her or her father if he ever were to figure out their identities. Precautions, and all that.

Today, Alva was job hunting down in South City when something caught her eye. She'd been rolling down the sidewalk in her wheelchair when she paused in front of a building with a large banner draped in front of it that read "Majin Megis for 2023! Step Inside to Learn More!" For 2023... Did that mean the Presidency? That was when the next election was, yeah? Derry was currently primed to win, as no one was really even gearing up to run against him, but if there were other candidates, and if Alva's work to ruin his public image actually made an impact...

Plus, campaigns had to pay salaries to the people who worked on them, right?

Alva rolled her way into the building - luckily, one of the doors had an automatic button for her. It was kinda quiet inside, but she did see someone rather Majin-looking once she got a look around. That must be the titular Majin Megis, right? Alva rolled up to him and stopped a few feet away. "Hiya," she said, "Is it pronounced Mej-is or Megg-is?" That was the first order of business to figure out.

It didn't take long for the first (of hopefully many) to enter, though she wasn't quite what he had been expecting. The wheelchair bound woman rolled up the Megis, who had been quietly in thought contemplating all the ways he could win over the public, before being interrupted with a question over how to pronounce his name. "It is pronounced like May, as in the month, plus gis, which rhymes with hiss. May-gis. You are here for information about the upcoming campaign?"

The Majin would then suddenly turn to the left, launching his arms across the room where they would grab a hold of a table, before being retracted back into place, bringing the table along with them. Atop the table was several hundred stacks of paper, of which Megis grabbed one from the top of the pile, having it over to the woman.

"As you can see this is me, Megis, standing in front of the ruins of the old Lookout in the east. It's where I used to live, or still do, but that's another matter." Megis would tap his finger down on the image, before moving it downwards to the small scrawl of text at the bottom. "These are some of my ideas I have for the future. The most important thing is free immigration for all species wanting to move to Earth. We are after all supposed to be the most welcoming of planets, but some people would disagree."

In truth his ideas were rather hastily put together, as it had only been just a few hours ago that he had nearly been killed at the hands of the president. He was rushing through things, but that was the kind of person he was. "Another important thing is the removal of Derry's terrible ki tracking policy. I think we can both agree that we should be allowed to grow as strong as we want without the government tracking our every movements."

Flipping the paper over, Megis would reveal a crudely drawn image of Derry in a compromising scenario which had been scribbled together a few moments before she had arrived. "Uh, I forgot about that. That was just for me; I got bored while waiting. Anyway, if you want to vote you'll have to wait a few months, but what do you think?"

Saiba-Ban had to admit. He thought that no one would ever run against Derry. He had done at least an ok job running the planet. Of course, not counting all the shit that happened because of him that let occur but that was private knowledge. Things like Kamae going to Namek (Partially his idea yikes) and the moon getting chunked up (Speculation on his end but he was confident that was the case). Anyway, when he heard someone was actually running that was worth checking out. Because, oh man that could be troublesome. Derry was in power cause really last time no one really ran. He remembered someone running might of been Liari. But he meet her and she was crazy and an asshole. So glad she didn't win.

So he was going to check it out. It was not like he was apart of Derry administration. He could check out what Megis was saying and then report it back to Derry. See what he thought about it and move on. Of course, he was on the fence still doing Derry things. He was pretty rich and he was sorta focused more on his Saibamen now. He needed to give them a good home. He was not sure that Derry would provide that without some strings attached. Then again pretty much no planet would do that. So he was going to be in a pickle regardless.

He would arrive as Megis was explaining what he planned to do. How he was going to allow anyone to come to Earth and remove the Ki tracking policy. The former was a cool idea though he was pretty sure Derry was still cool with that. The second, he really didn't like it. That policy was actually useful in his mind. Look at Plant. Everyone just ran around swinging their muscles around to get there way. Granted, he tried doing that but he was totally justified and trying to save his species. So he was different. "Those sound like some good ideas, But what is your national security policy? If you ain't tracking people who can be dangerous? What about your ecnomic policy? How you gonna make sure earth prospers." Saiba-Ban glanced at Megis then at Alva. "Oh I'm Saiba-Ban by the way. Nice to meet you both. Heard about you running for president, surprised me. Thought Derry been a pretty good president so wanna hear more why we need to move on from his sucessful tenure."

May-gis? ...Sure. That wasn't exactly how Alva had been reading it, obviously, but Magis here probably knew how his name was pronounced better than she would. "Um, yeah, I was actually-" she started to say as the Majin asked her if she was interested in the campaign, but she was interrupted when his arm shot out like a cannon towards the other end of the room stretching like bubblegum allll the way over towards a table that was then swiftly yanked in front of Alva.

The Majin then very eagerly showed her photos from the stacks that were on said table. "O-Oh, I see..." Alva said, feigning interest. She couldn't say she cared terribly much about his policies, though. Alva was really more interested in, well, a job. She didn't really know what Derry's foreign policy or economic strategies were, admittedly. She just knew he was potentially a very serious problem for her and her father, should things end up going a certain way.

Well, she did know about his controversial policies on ki users. "Oh, yes, I have several friends who take offense to all that," she replied when Magis brought that up. She was going to segue that into asking for a job, but then someone else popped up suddenly behind her, which made Alva instinctively flinch back in her seat.

This was... A Saibaman? In a suit? Alva did not know they could actually do, well, anything other than explode, really. That wasn't racist to think, was it?

"Um, hello," Alva slowly replied to him once he addressed her. She felt a bit out of place here now, admittedly. She didn't have her scouter on, but these guys both seemed pretty strong, and they were both aliens... The Saibaman was pretty quick to question Magis' legitimacy as a candidate, though. Well, maybe this was her chance to see if Magis could hold her own as a candidate? That way she wasn't just jumping in blind, here.

She looked up towards the Majin expectantly as she waited for his answers to the Saibaman's inquisitions.

The conversation seemed to be going well, with Megis reeling in his first supporter. He hardly even noticed when the same Saiba creature that had helped fight against the crazed Heran entered his office. At first he took a step back, not sure of how to handle approach things. He remembered that he had said about the accords, and how he thought that Ban might have been one of Derry's lackeys. It made him hesitant to answer, though he also didn't want to completely dismiss the opportunity either.

"This isn't the first time we meet; you remember that green warrior who attacked those people on the street? That Majin was me." The Saiba creature asked very legitimate questions; ones which Megis hoped to provide a satisfactory answer to. "Security is very important to Earth. As we are so welcoming to outsiders, we also open ourselves to risk of some undesirables sneaking in, but that is a risk we must take. Still, I fully intend to provide Earth will an adequate defense."

Megis would clap his hands, magically producing an poster which depicted Fukushu's attack on East City. "I'm sure you both remember this occurrence; it happened only a few months ago. The Heran Fukushu struck at East City, and for what reason? It's open to speculation. My belief is that he choose East City because of it's concentration of martial artists. He wanted to cripple our defense forces, probably to soften us up for a future attack. Derry would restrict the common people's ability to defend themselves, while I would do the opposite. Rather than spending money on tracking people I would invest that zeni into building and renovating martial arts dojos; not just in East City, but all around the world."

Clapping his hands once more, he'd produce a second poster; this one of the Task Force Shield which was recently put into place. "Secondarily, I would invest in rapidly expanding the TSF, making it our international defense force. Derry has promised his own personal support into the organization, which may sound like a good thing. I would disagree on this however. There's a conflict of interest here, as Derry can decide to withhold support to force the TSF into doing as he pleases. I would have the TSF exist as a separate entity from the government."

Megis understood how to fight, but Economics wasn't his strong point. He couldn't give much of answer there. "To tell you the truth I am not a man of economics, but I recognize my weaknesses. I would hope to appoint someone else who is more of an expert in the subject, rather than fumble at it myself."

Megis snapped back at Ban's claim of Derry being a good president. "Maybe in some respects, but not completely. Fukushu's attempt on East City may have been stopped, but not without the loss of life. I believe Derry's policies on ki users is partially to blame here, as a more hardened population would have been able to put a stop to the attack without having to wait for Derry to arrive. And haven't you heard about what happened on Mount Paozu? A Tuffle boy wanted to provide shelter to his people, while Derry tried to restrict their living conditions. Earth should be a haven for all, without fear of being tracked by the government."

“Yah no I do actually remember you now that I look over you.” He would nod as Megis spoke, seems he was that Majin that faced off with Dosu and ran away after he was clearly outmatched. So he was no sure that he should exactly be the guy talking about security. But he decided to listen what Megis had to say. Yelling at him and telling him he was wrong would do no good. He noted that East City had faced an attack from Fukushu (Something he had not heard of since he had been off Earth for a few months). But he nodded his head along as if he was indeed aware of this attack. Anyway, Megis believed that Fukushu wanted to soften up Earth’s force for an attack in the future. Derry policy was something that kept people soft. Instead of tracking people he’d train people to be stronger. Saiba-Ban didn’t speak, he kept listening to Megis before he responded. But clearly, the twitching of his body indicated he had a lot to say.

He did at least have a fair point with his second. He’d expand this Defense Force (Once again something new to him). But keeping it away from Derry and the President made since. But then again the policy was being made by the president. In fact, nothing would really cahnge between the two, mostly. Guess Derry could potentially be the ones creating a threat that be different between himself and Megis. And he also acknowledged he was an economic man so he was aware of his strengths and weaknesses. Ok, so he had a vague idea this guy had at least some good ideas. But he didn’t seem to be that much of a threat to Derry. At least in the moment.

Of course, before he got to respond, Megis responded his own claims that Derry was a pretty good president. He claimed that Derry policy had kept Earth weak and vunerable to an attack like Fukushu. And he also noted some tuffles who tried to settle on Earth but Derry restricfted them. That was news to him, he’d actually have to ask Derry about that. That was about the only thing that made Saiba-Ban raise an eyebrow. “Alright that was a lot. And I appreciate you telling me all you had to say.” He glanced at Alva. “Guess you didn’t have much to say either.” She didn’t even give her name. That sucks, guess she wanted to remain anonymous? Something to keep an eye on.

“Anyway though, most of what you said was wrong.” Damn, he was kind of a dick for that. But he didn’t care. Instead he decided to take some time to explain why he believed Megis was wrong.“I don’t know this Fukushu guy but I can tell you that 99 percent of people can’t train to protect a planet from serious threats. I’ve seen the saiyan’s and tuffles being on Plant. And most of those people were not that strong. It only a small number of people on Plant that are truly fearsome. Tracking policy does not really dicate if we can protect the planet or not. If your gonna disagree with the policy, it shouldn’t be for you know? Thinking it makes the planet weak? That not really an accurate argument. It won’t change strength all that much. Instead tracking ki is to avoid great threats to the planet. So you can find those who could cause trouble. It ain’t perfect. If your gonna attack it should be based on an issue of privacy.”

“If you want the policy to be stronger, you need to actually organize those who can defend the planet. So I agree with your idea that it probably wise to keep them away from the government. But the government also has resource. The defenders of the planet also should be responsible and held to a standard. If no one checks these people what stops them for making the laws themselves? The president job to keep the planet secure. So that means you need to have oversight these people. But you def need to give them some leeway. Allow them to protect the planet but have to keep them accountable for harming the planet or you know potentially abusing your power. Your policy direction is fine, to counter Derry but your logic is wrong.” Saiba-Ban was utterly confident as he spoke about this and then awaited Megis counter to his statements.

Oh, boy. These two were... Quite talkative, huh? Alva mostly sat back with her lips tightened back against her gums as the pink and green fellow just sort of went at it over foreign policy and terrorism and funding and... All sorts of things that didn't exactly go completely over Alva's head, but that didn't mean she really had all that much interest in what was being discussed.

Megis did seem to be making some decent points about Earth's defenses being weak, what with the Heran attack on East City a few months prior, and how Derry's policies restricting ki users may have played a part in the loss of life there being greater than it needed to be. And apparently some Tuffle thing that had gone on on a mountain Alva had never heard of. However, the Saibaman was rather quick to try and rebuke the Majin's points, stating that the vast majority of people were too weak to be able to make a difference in these battles anyway.

At this Alva furrowed her brows.

"Um, excuse me," she interjected. "I know it's not exactly my place to interject here, but... I don't think what you're saying makes as much sense as you seem to think it does, Mr. Saiba-Ban sir." She turned to face the Saiba-man as she spoke, and crossed her arms. "The two attackers you guys are talking about were aliens, right? Meaning, they weren't from Earth at all, anyway. So... How exactly does tracking strong people on Earth protect Earth from threats outside of Earth?"

She glanced over at Megis, as if looking for a bit of confirmation before she continued, "I mean, if you ask me, I feel like I'd have less incentive as a ki user to act in the interest of a planet that wants to subjugate and keep watch over me just because of who I am." She then turned back to look at the Saiba-man again. "If you ask me, all the policy really does is make Earth seem hostile to ki users. So I'd say it just increases the likelihood of ki users across the galaxy being hostile back at Earth."

Well, at least he had one fan in the building. Saiba-Ban was quick to counter his points, stating that the majority of people could never reach the power needed to defend Earth from intergalactic threats, which was probably true, but Alva countered by stating that tracking people on Earth meant nothing if the biggest threats to Earth came from another planet. Megis rushed over to Alva's chair and did a little dance in support before adding his own. "A very good point, my lady. The biggest threats to Earth are those from outer space, which is where Derry's tracking is useless."

Megis had his own points to make in response. "You say that 99% of people on the planet couldn't match Fukushu's strength, which is fair, but I would say what about the other 1%? There's always a chance that some individuals will reach that power, isn't there? So why not find these people and empower them? I would give you the most powerful example I can: yourself. You are but a Saiba creature, are you not? Most Saiyans hunt and eat your kind, thinking you to be nothing more than a decent meal. And yet here you are, more powerful than any Saiyan I've ever meet. You rose above those expectations, so why can't others?"

His point on the task force needing oversight was fair, though that didn't mean it had to be the president. "The Task Force would have oversight in my administration, but not from the president. The president is biased; what happens if someone attacks a city which decides not to pay it's taxes? They could very easily restrict the Task Force from defending. I would have an independent, civilian oversight in place."

And they don’t have any sort of organization. On every other planet, might makes right. Ok that not fair, Namek does not do that either. I don’t think they have a leader.” He had grown a slight soft spot for Namek. “Point is that the reason people do as they please on Earth is not thinking the planet weak. It that other planet fester strong meatheads. I don’t know this Fukushu guy but I bet he lived on a shitty world had to fight all the time just to survive and then decided to bully people he thought were too weak to fight back.”

Now he should get back to the actually point though. “So the reason you track people on Earth is that it a half measure. You don’t want people who are super powerful doing what they wanted. Let me give you an example. The military of a planet. If the miltiary of Earth could do what they pleased and abused their power they rule the planet through might. Now i’m not saying everyone who gets tracked is gonna abuse their power. Most the people are swell I image. But like the miltiary they are checked by another force. In that case it is the president and goverment officals. Plus there been cases of those not being tracked being troublesome. The reason the system was made afterall was when that happened.” He pointed up to the hole in the moon that been caued months ago by an assortment of bad actors.

Anyway, despite his effort they had had more counter points. Megis pointed out that yes most people would not match a power of this Fukushu guy. But they should be promoting that growth not stifling it. Alva on the otherhand pointed out Tracking people’s power was going to make people not want to defend the planet. “I’ll concede that if the policy done in a negative way it can make people not want to defend the planet. But at the same time, I’d not want to take the chance people who are not tracked can be a massive threat. It is an effort of national secruity. At most I’d say that it was prehaps knee jerk and can be better refined to be more fair.”

Megis then pointed to him about how people could grow to get stronger, he was a saibamen and most his kind were frankly not that strong. So why can’t most people be as strong as him. “Well most people don’t got the guts I had to be frank. I also got my ass kicked hundreds of times to get this strong. I had to adapt in a cruel fucking world. Most these people should not have to do that. Or fear that some random person on the streets could have the power to blow them to bits. Make people feel a bit safer that at least those people were being watched, so people are at least aware of the danger they could pose.” Saiba-Ban shook his head. As for the idea of the Task force Megis tried to say that waht if the president didn’t allow the task force being sent to a city not paying their taxes? Total abuse of its power. “Not really, if everyone in that city not paying their taxes with some good reason, then why should the government send a comity of people to defend them. Second, I don’t think as of now the president would do that. Those people would defend the planet regardless. What he gonna do if don't listen to him? Send people to kick their asses? The President would have to be a moron to tell off his commity for protecting people. And civilians run it, it is run by morons who don’t have an idea what they are dealing with. You don’t handle missle launch codes to a fucking farmer. That is just stupid.”

If there was one thing that Saiba-Ban clearly was not, it was concise.

He was also kind of racist, apparently. Alva furrowed her brows as he referred to the denizens of other planets as 'fucking shit.' Clearly not the words of someone who intended to run for office himself. He also wasn't making much sense to Alva. If the militaries of the world weren't tracked, they would... Rule the world? Don't the most powerful militaries of the world already rule it? He wasn't even from Earth, right? Saiba-men grew on Plant, or wherever it was the Saiyans and Tuffles were busy killing each other.

Frankly, Alva didn't care quite enough to listen to nor rebuke all of the stuff Saiba-Ban was saying, as most of it just started to sound kind of dumb to her. "Nah," Alva simply replied to him this time with a shrug. "I think you're wrong." That was that one dealt with, then. She turned her attention and her wheelchair over towards the Majin, who was the person she actually wanted to see when she came in, anyway.

"Hey, do you need like, a campaign manager or an intern or something?" she asked the Majin. "Cause I'm looking for a job. Now, I'm only twenty, and I only actually have experience in engineering and software dev, but I know my way around the block, too!" She paused for a moment, then added, "I mean, as long as you're able to pay a salary, of course."

Megis could see where Ban was coming from, but again he had to disagree. "You're right. The other planets do foster powerful, but often uncontrolled warriors, which is why I'm suggesting we instead do things in a more organized fashion. With the task force, combined with greater efforts put into martial arts training we could have a force that's actually capable of defending Earth while also being respectable. I mean, what's the point of tracking people if we don't have anyone strong enough to fight them when we get a threat? Being able to watch someone punch me in the face isn't very useful on it's own; I need to be able to defend against it."

At least Alva seemed to be on his side. The girl even offered to go so far as to be his campaign manager, which would probably be a good idea seeing as Megis didn't always handle social situations well and was prone to negative outbursts. Of course there would have be a salary involved, though the Majin was quite sure that he had enough to take care of it.

Craning his head back, Megis took his arm and plunged it down his throat. A few seconds later and he retrieved his bag of Zeni, throwing it down onto the ground and opening it up so that Alva could see. "It's been a while since I've counted it all. Do you think this will be enough to cover your services?"

Megis countered what he had to say with just having to organize better as opposed to wildness of other planet. If done right Earth could have a massive fighting force more organized then any other planets. That part was true he had to admit. So it was tempting but it was the question who would control it. And if Earth was tracking people then how would they handle that? If everyone was weak as hell even if they tracked a dangerous threat they not be able to stop it. Saiba-Ban was at least warming up to the idea. He tapped his chin a few times. Though Alva had to cut his train of thought by just saying he was wrong. He gave her a glance. “Well your entitled to your opinion’s.” He would of said a lot more but decided to keep the mood a bit higher spirited. He had basically said the same thing at the start so it was coming to bite him back.

“Well Megis, I can’t say I agree with everything your saying but you’d at least made some fair points. I think though as a suggestion if your gonna do your whole plan with the Defense force it should be run by someone who actually you know, can run a military force and be organized. I’d suggest as president to create an act where a General of some kind would be elected by the people. Someone who has combat experience and is loyal to Earth. They would run the Defense Force. In that way there a check and balance. The President can have the General impeached if they abuse their power, the General controls the armed force if the President gets out of line. As opposed to just having citizen run it and then its people who may not exactly know what the threats of the universe are.” He was not sure why he was getting him advice if he was working with Derry. But if he was gonna run he’d at least like to give him input.

Alva on the otherhand seemed to really want to work for him as some intern or secretary. It was interesting to say the least. Of course, she wanted to get paid. Megis pulled out his own bag of money to pay her but Saiba-Ban raised a hand. He’d pull out his own large bag and hand it to Megis. “For the troubles. Use this to reimburse some of the payments. I can’t say I’ll be voting for you. But I do know you got a good heart. I saw you did try to stop that Dosu guy and I think you do wanna help Earth. So take a bit of this to help yourself out. I got a lot of money from doing a lot of business across the star’s. So I can give a little bit of that away to help you out.”

Alva snorted a little bit as the Saiba-man seemed somewhat caught off guard by how curtly she'd rejected his rather long-winded proposal for his own ideas. Frankly, Alva got the impression that the guy just really liked hearing himself talk. He was surprisingly civil for a Saiba-man, though, Alva had to give him that. Not that she'd ever met one personally, but from everything she'd heard about them, weren't they just mindless creatures that blew themselves up to kill other people? Not exactly the type you'd expect to see wearing suits and discussing politics...

Anyway, in better news, the Majin was actually quite receptive to her proposal! Alva smiled up politely at him as he considered her proposal, then cringed in surprise as he suddenly... Shoved his arm down his own throat, and then stared in bewildered amazement as he pulled out a large sack of zeni and dropped it at her feet, asking her if this was enough.

"A-Ah," Alva stammered as she stared at the money. She'd never seen so much (legally acquired) cash all at once. And this was all without committing any crimes! Were all jobs like this? Why hadn't she started work sooner?!

"Y-Yes, well, I suppose I ought to count it first to be, um, sure," she slowly replied as she leaned forward to grab the sack. The Saiba-man even pulled out his own large sack of cash - how were all these guys so rich? - and handed it up to the Majin. "W-Well, um, you sure are a generous Saiba-man," Alva stated, then sat back up and cleared her throat. "Are you an associate of Derry's, by the way? You seem like you know quite a bit about the man. Just curious, is all."

The two would simply have to agree to disagree it seemed, though Ban did give a fair point when suggesting that the defense force should have someone specialized in charge. Megis would be sure to keep that in mind moving forward, assuming that he actually won the election. That was by no means a guarantee. Alva seemed quite happy with the money produced by Megis, though both were shocked when Ban produced an even larger sack of money, offering it over to the Majin.

Megis was happy to take any hand out he could get, and this was certainly generous, though he couldn't help but be a little suspicious as well. It was a very large amount of money to give out to what was essentially a stranger. Sure, he did try and help fight against Dosu, but that was enough to warrant this? Perhaps the Saiba creature simply had a lot of money to spare.

"Thanks. I'll be sure to put the money to good use." Megis was just about prepared to put an end to this meeting before Alva brought up the name Derry. "Associate? I would certainly hope not! I will not allow spies from the enemy within my circle... if you think you can bribe you way into our hearts then you are sorely mistaken!" Megis was ready to take the sack of money given by Ban and throw it back in his face if that was the case.
