The young woman shrugged from the rock she was sitting on now.
“Not at first…but in a wasteland like this you stand out from miles away…which by the way should make you a terrible hunter…so after I found the source was another Saiyan…which by the way as well you weren’t hard to find or follow…it had me curious as to what you’d be hunting all the way out here with a twig.”
Even now she could feel how strong the man was, even after all that time tussling with a creature that had in the past been known to feed on unwary Oozaru caught out in the wastelands, he was undiminished, which in itself was a testament to the strength he had inside…so while he may have been out here with only a spear…she doubted he was ever really in any real danger. She hadn’t planned to find the Saiyan out here alone but being curious was something she just couldn’t suppress, and when something stuck out so obviously how could you not investigate?
When he spoke again with that smile on his face the young warrior shook her head,
“Power is useless without direction. The Oozaru overcomes so many that even with the boons it brings, your average Saiyan fails to direct it adequately. If it were so easy the Tuffles wouldn’t have held us back for so long. You might not be able to stop an avalanche but you can predict where it's going to fall. It's the same with us…they baited us where they wanted us and we never did any real damage.”
She shrugged again and slide off the rock,
“And you may be a Saiyan warrior but I tracked your power…that beast was no real challenge…you could have changed at any time and crushed this entire area without breaking a sweat. Self preservation would have kicked in if things had gone too badly for you…”
The meats were sizzling away around the area they had taken camp in, the scavengers darting in and out to take chunks from the corpse of the great beast, the parts that they didn’t need, or didn’t want to eat. The way Lottus handled that spear told her he was comfortable with it, and the ease with which it drove into the ground at his feet meant he knew how to use it efficiently. She’d watched him before. There had been little wasted movement despite the acrobatics of climbing a raging Saiba-Rex in its death throes. He knew what he was doing.
“I held a rope and tripped up a crippled animal…yes let's sing glorious tales of my deeds.”
She laughed and waved his comment away with a dismissive hand. She didn’t need to be told what she’d done, by comparison it had been very little. If she hadn’t alerted the beast in the first place her companion would have likely killed it much sooner, instead of having to take a more direct approach with it.
Confident bastard. Jagaimo grinned and chuckled to herself when the big man turned his back to her without a second thought to check the speared meats cooking over the various spits. What did he think she was going to do? Stab him in the back after what she had just witnessed. Even relaxed as he was unless she was perfectly silent and precise she doubted she’d get close enough for it to matter. And with the difference between them…even off guard could she hit him hard enough to matter…He wasn’t wrong now that they were close she could feel the challenge singing in her blood, that trial…the want to test yourself against others. It was one path…but not one she desired to tread so soon after a near death experience…
“I came out here looking for some peace and quiet, some time to think…it's hard to do that sometimes with the constant drone of the city around you. I certainly wasn’t intending to become involved in this…”
She waved a hand over towards the carcass and the meats spitting fat over the glowing branches and the hot stones around them. The smell in the air was rich and reminded her of walking the districts back home. She could feel her stomach rumbling and the scent of it was actually making her mouth water.
“I’d never intended to travel this far into the wastes in honesty but then I fel…picked up a power…your power…and my curiosity got the better of me. Once a scout, always a scout I guess.”
