Ticoga gazes at Brumal, very much looking at the Emperor with surprise in his expression. The current Triumvirs are so completely different from the rulers of only four decades earlier, that it was difficult to imagine that this was still the same Empire. When Brumal created the throne, and proclaimed that Ticoga could potentially himself be seated upon one, Ticoga's expression hardens.
"My Emperor, I am not suited for thrones. If there is to be stability in the Empire, individuals like myself need to be a force of balance - to defend against the instability wrought by the overly ambitious, and the undeserving." Ticoga says after a few moments, turning his eyes away from the throne the Emperor had manifested from nothing. "My duty compels me to act for the Empire as a whole, to ensure that it remains standing tall. But, perhaps you have made a point as well."
Ticoga's brows furrow for a moment in thought, and he looks to the sky.
"If the time for recompense is over, if the sins of my forebears has been already washed away, then perhaps you are right. Perhaps it is time for me to take the first step forward." Ticoga continues. But what did that next step forward mean? Should he join a Clan? Should he aim to restore his own? Or, perhaps, he should aim to build a new clan altogether? Many questions, and few answers. Ticoga looks back at Brumal, appearing confident. "My Emperor, the next time we shall meet, I promise that I shall be stronger. And should you deign to grant me another opportunity, I shall endeavor to stand and show what I can truly accomplish."
Ticoga smiles - not an ambitious smile, but a hopeful one.
"I shall grow strong enough to stand as the shield against any tidal force, within and without the Empire's borders." he says confidently. "I will rise even beyond the might of the Triumvirate, of your might. And I will shame the nobility, with proof that power does not mean control."
Ticoga then glances at the great serpent, Terium. He heard bits of what Terium had been saying but does not comment on it.
