"Welcome fight fans to the Sol Coliseum, and welcome to the first ever Konats Rumble, brought to you by our esteemed Lords and Ladies of Konats.

Many of your have come from far and wide, not just from Konats but much like our competitors here today, many planets around our galaxy. You've come to watch the best of the best duke it out to see who's got the best coordination, the best teamwork, and who will at the end of the day be the strongest team fighting before your eyes.

You'll have to forgive me folks, this next matchup is a treat, and one I'll personally be savoring and no doubt you all will be too by the time it's said and done. This one has it all; Unique species, strong fighters, royalty, and I can't wait! Since I'm the one with the microphone I won't!

Our first fighter, representing team three, a fighter I'm told is from a race known as the Shruumian, known for their feline like features. I wonder if they'd get along with our earlier fighter Dark? Sorry, I got a bit sidetracked there. Hailing from the planet Earth as a retired vigilante, and now a teacher of the mystic arts, stomp your feat, claps your hands and scream your appreciation for Portobello Munsu! Standing beside them is a warrior with experience far exceeding their young age, and I'm told a strength to match most fighters here. Hailing from the planet Plant where peace has only recently been made possible after decades of harsh war, no doubt shaping our young warrior into the strong fighter we are lucky to see standing before us, please welcome Zuqetta!

Their opponents, from team six, a surprising pairing, as they make the second team coming as a group and most surprisingly as part of the leadership of their people. It's not often we have royalty from other worlds, let alone fighting in such tournaments. Our first member of team six is from royal blood but a life from removed from it. Knowing the bite of the battlefield more than the comfort of a palace, shaped by combat like forged steel, and loyal to the Saiyan army and most importantly his partner today, give a loud and respectful welcome to Vocado Bonewood! Their teammate, a fighter who has no royal lineage to speak of, a low-class Saiyan thrust into the war of Plant like many other Saiyans, a warrior in the Saiyan Military for all their adult life. It's likely these two competitors have known each other longer than any other team here today from what I'm told, and no doubt their teamwork will be tested. Without further ado, welcome, the King of all Saiyans, Taori Cliffedge!

The crowd roared at their names, and Vocado couldn’t help but to crack a smile. He’d never heard his name cheered so feverishly before, and to hear it alongside Taori’s? It felt like a dream he had when he was in the trenches. To think they’d come so far. From mud and muck and grime to silk bedsheets and hailed names. Certainly a step up.

Vocado stepped out onto the ring first, though his arrival was merely earliest by moments. Adjusting his wrist mounts, he ran a hand across both of them, venting them both as cheers continued across the stadium. Though similar in make, the pair of ‘weapons’ had opposite uses. One to harm, the other to heal. He’d have to thank Korado someday for these gadgets. How useful would they be, he wondered? Any distraction would surely count.

”Let’s not take any chances,” he said, nodding toward Taori. ”We’re making it to the finals. No underestimating; no bravado. We take each threat as serious as the last.”

There was a lot riding on this, in Vocado’s mind. The first Saiyan appearance in the galactic spotlight since conquering the Tuffles. Would they show their true strength? Would they find themselves leaving in ridicule?

A serious sneer found its way onto his features, and he waited. Who would make the first move?

The day of the tournament was finally upon her and Portobello hardly intended to keep anyone waiting, least of all herself. She'd arrived on the grounds much earlier to prepare for the match ahead, stretching, going for a light jog, anything to get the blood flowing.

The greying feline fighter was the second to step into the arena with both her ally and the other member of the rival team (presumably) not far behind. Now as far as she was concerned, this tournament was all fun and games, maybe some saw it differently, a matter of pride perhaps. But she'd expected she'd be far outclassed by the opposition, and by the power emanating from the three Saiyans, her hunch was correct. So if she was going to lose, why not have some fun along the way? A fight was still a fight, and with Earth going the way it was, anything legally sanctioned would be hard to come by.

Seeing no reason to not treat the opposition with respect, she gave the two a nod and addressed them politely with a smile.

"So, a King and his comrade? I see I'm in the company of people in high places!"

The smile remained but she gained a bit of a sheepish look before glancing down, "Well... I'm sorry I might not be much of the fight you were expecting, you should have caught me about ten years ago when I was still beating up pirates in the Arcosian sector."

Then there was a noticeable pause, as she considered her next words carefully, eyeing all three Saiyans before she continued on.

"But if you'd all extend me a bit of courtesy..." her expression hardened and she slipped into a more traditional fighting stance, beckoning forward with one hand. Then her energy expanded fourfold, her fur spiking out as green electricity began crackling through it.

"I'll give this fight everything I have."

On the other hand there was Tarine, he'd filed into the stands with the rest of the audience because, well... that was what he was, an audience member, it was why he'd come out to this planet, to watch the matches, maybe take a few notes along the way if any of the fighters had something interesting up their sleeve.

…That was proving hard for two reasons: One, it turned out his boss was participating, he'd only found that out yesterday when he'd managed to bump into her by chance- she claimed she'd told him weeks ago but he'd have definitely remembered if that were the case.

Two was her... opponents. Apparently one of them being the so-called king of the Saiyans who'd taken Plant hostage. It was a wonder he was holding himself together so well, his feelings towards the Tuffles had been set in stone for over a year by now so from his understanding this man was was nothing more than tyrant who'd forced his armies upon an innocent people who'd only wanted to defend a planet that was rightfully theirs.

Understandably, the animosity he felt towards seeing Taori in the flesh for the first time had soured his mood substantially, so in opposition to the cheering masses, he could only muster up the ability to give one hell of a death glare and sulk like a child who'd been told they'd been told they could no longer go to Sparking World. The only remaining hope he had for the fight is he could see someone out of the opposing team get their face pummelled in a few times.

It had been quite some time since Taori had done much fighting for sport. He and the other Saiyans in the lower rankings of the Saiyan military would occasionally rough each other up to keep themselves spry, though they wee never organized enough to have an actual tournament. At best, They'd sometimes bet a few hundred zeni or so on the outcome of a spur of the moment brawl. So, when Vocado had approached Taori about joining the Konatsian tournament together, Taori was slightly uneasy about the prospect, but his old friend eventually managed to convince him.

He needed a break from all that King stuff anyway - it was starting to bore a hole in his head.

Alpinia needed a break as well, and while she was no fighter, she was more than happy to watch Taori and Vocado from the sidelines. he was seated amidst the crowd, where she'd elected to leave her lavish cape back on the space ship to blend in a bit better. Taori, too, was wearing his usual battle armor, absent his regal, fluffy and perhaps a bit too fancy looking cape. That thing was too hard to fight in, anyway.

Taori stood with his arms crossed as he listened to the announcer introduce he and his partner in the tournament, and while he wasn't too sure where the announcer had gotten all of that info about him, he supposed it didn't really matter. "Sure," Taori replied as Vocado insisted there not be any holding back for these fights. "Well, no time like the present to get started, then."

He examined their opponents for this round, the Saiyan of which he felt like he sort of recognized from somewhere, though, to be honest, too many Saiyans looked too alike for Taori to really tell apart the ones he'd only had passing contact with. Their other opponent was a cat-like woman who reminded Taori a little bit of Dark, though with even more feline features. She seemed pleasant, at the very least. Taori would try not to feel too bad about pounding her face in over the next few minutes.

And, well, the announcer had said 'GO,' so Taori went. He leapt forward, electing to take out the feline first, as he focused his ki through his body and spun around mid-air, his foot swinging with tremendous speed towards Portobello's head with a ki-empowered kick.

Let the battles begin! Taori uses [Light] Get Your Kicks against Portobello for 39,000 PL damage!

She wasn't late this time! Though, to be fair, she hadn't been late the prior day either by all technicality; having unknowingly arrived a day early, which is how she first met her partner. While not being late was all well and good; now, Zuqetta couldn't help but feel like she was here a bit TOO early. Her partner was incredibly enthusiastic, having them wake up early for some 'not-so-quick' morning exercises long before their match would start; as such, Zuqetta couldn't help but yawn as she made her way into the arena. She was in a bit of a daze, simply following beside her partner, Portobello, as they reached their mark. She could hear her partner engaging in conversation with their opponents, but hardly registered it; maybe they would all have a nice little conversation before the match officially started, a conversation hopefully long enough for Zuqetta to get a few z's in... just a few minutes...

This was not the case!

Zuqetta would suddenly feel a surge of power flare up which jolted her senses momentarily; in a knee-jerk reaction, Zuqetta would rush directly towards the power before it would land, fortunately intercepting the attack on behalf of her partner in a valiant display! Unfortunately, Zuqetta had still been quite tired, and would take the kick directly to the chin in an unflattering display; sending her flying over her partner and landing flat on her back in an even worse daze than she had been in before...

"Did the match... start...??" Zuqetta would question as she lie on the ground in utter confusion; the world spinning violently while her jaw pulsated with pain.

What an interesting pair. The Saiyan girl, who he’d definitely seen before somewhere, had no Ki to sense, which implied, at least to Vocado, that she was the stronger of the two. In most cases where someone had such advanced suppression techniques, they were usually the bigger threat. That, combined with the furred alien’s power-up landing him firmly below Vocado, forced him to come to the conclusion that Zuqetta was the target to aim for.

It didn’t make Portobello any less of a threat, of course. In fact, it arguably made her the more important of the two to take down. If Taori hadn’t gone for her first, Vocado might’ve done so himself.

Taori’s exertion of Ki was matched by one of Vocado’s own. But while the King went forward, the commander went straight up. He flew up and over the combatants, arm locked firmly forward as he arced across the stadium.

Clicking his gear into position, Vocado loosed an energy bullet from his weapon toward the prone Zuqetta, hoping to pelt her with another shot to keep the pressure going.

”The match will end pretty damn quick if you don’t take us seriously!”

Steam hissed from Vocado’s wrist-mount, and a cartridge shot clean from the ammunition slot, clattering across the sand some few seconds later. Floating still above the battle, Vocado kept his stance stiff and tense; waiting for a counter-strike from somewhere.

”Keep the pressure up, my liege!” That didn’t quite sound right. In fact, it sounded pretty stupid. He’d try referring to Taori with something else next time. ”Don’t give ‘em an inch!”

Floating into the air, Vocado uses [ITEM] Arm Blaster!

She couldn’t help but feel a little put off by the two men’s seriousness regarding the whole affair (they couldn’t even say hello?), but that was how it was sometimes. They were the sort to throw themselves straight into the action, as the king charged forward, Portobello’s muscles tensed as she was about to jump back, the beginnings of a yellow ki wall forming in her outstretched hands before Zuqetta… stumbled in the way of the blow, Portobello cringed at that- almost regretting her choice to ask the girl to join her morning routine.

But she couldn’t allow herself to get distracted, as the other Saiyan decided to take the opportunity to fire another shot towards her now prone teammate- Portobello was admittedly a little peeved by the action as going after an opponent who was down went against her definition of good sportsmanship, unfortunately being past her prime meant she no longer possessed the tools to intercept the blow effectively, so with a hint of regret on her face she'd let the blow go through uncontested and instead focus on redirecting the perpetrator's attention towards her.

So with Vocado's eyes on Zuqetta, Portobello took the chance to kick off into the air, swiftly forming a pale orb of ki in her hands that began to bloom many petal-like protusions before she thrust it outward and it took off spinning in the soldier's direction. However, despite it's appearance, the attack was not a cutting implement, if it struck true the blast would explode against his chest like any other ki blast would.

Hopefully gaining the warrior's attention and now floating roughly level with him, she'd give Vocado a stern look from across the battlefield- keeping her fists up defensively in preparation for him to strike back.

“No cheap shots, eyes on me okay?”

Tarine could feel himself holding in a breath when he’d seen the king charging at Portobello, when the attack didn’t strike true due to the female Saiyan- uh, falling in the way he almost sighed in relief, though he was aware this was only the start of the fight so the tightness in his chest wasn’t going away just yet.

Well, the battle was certainly off to some kind of start. Taori's attack hadn't struck its intended target, as Zuqetta instead elected to take the blow for herself. Taori still ended up striking her fairly hard, and the opposing Saiyan seemed the slightest bit off her game, as if she hadn't fully woken up from the previous night's sleep yet. "Get your head in the game, kid," Taori warned her as she fell back from the blow. If she wasn't focusing, she might end up getting herself hurt a lot worse than was necessary. And besides that, Taori didn't want to fight someone who wasn't able to give it their all.

Their other opponent seemed a bit more spry as she took advantage of her partner blocking the blow for her. She leapt back and took a shot at Vocado, and while Taori could have blocked it, perhaps Vocado was right that they needed to keep up the pressure. Vocado looked like he had plenty of energy left to defend himself with, anyway.

If the cat woman wanted eyes on her, then, well, she'd get them. Seeing as Vocado was electing to engage Zuqetta, Taori elected to continue to engage Portobello. He leapt across the battlefield in a single kick off the ground, and swung his foot towards Portobello's head once more, though at the last moment, he revealed it to be a feint, and pulled back in a spiraling motion to reveal he'd been preparing a ball of ki in his palm, which he attempted to shove straight into her face! If it connected, there'd be quite the boom as it burst into an explosion of bright blue ki.

Taori uses [Light] Curveball against Portobello for 23,400 PL damage!

The match hadn't exactly started the way Zuqetta had wanted; she wasn't even given the chance to introduce herself properly! Though, that could hardly be the enemies fault however considering she did dive headfirst into a kick. The world around her spun and she was reminded of that terrible feeling of being teleported by Lilith from one place to another. She would snap back to her senses once more however as a blast of energy came down from above; pelting her directly and causing an array of smoke and dust to pick up. Within the cloud, things would fall silent for the briefest of moments before suddenly, said cloud would be force away as if by an unseen pressure; revealing Zuqetta standing straight up, patting down her hair and clothes.

"Okay, I'm up, I'm up!" She'd state firmly as she released a quick breath; she was already looking a bit scratched up, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle, "Guess it's you and me then?" Zuqetta would remark as she watched Taori speed off towards the cat, "Damn... I was hopin' ta one v one the king." She'd sigh before giving a shrug, "Well, Captain of the Shredder Corps is still a pretty damn good fight though!" She'd finish with a sharp grin before dashing straight into the air towards Vocado, "Let's dance!!!"

Vocado had been allowed to use a weapon, so she didn't see why she couldn't do the same; this was for sport however, so it wasn't like she wanted to mortally wound anyone. With that in mind, Zuqetta would forgo summoning any of her weapons; choosing instead to keep her bout hand to hand, whilst channeling her energy through her fist. She'd charge towards Vocado quickly as energy built up within her right fist; upon reaching him, she'd keep things simple as she attempt a back handed swing aimed against the man's jaw!

The bullet landed true, giving Vocado pause for celebration. His silent internal cheer quieted quick, as he slotted another bullet into the chamber, readying himself for a proper bout.

Portobello was the first to strike him, retaliation for the cannon shot, he supposed. The energy, sharp and star-like, was met with fierce opposition. He caught the ball in his open palm, pushing against it with a determined glare in his eyes.

”This is amateur hour. I thought this was supposed to be a serious match!”

It took more effort than he’d like to admit, but with a serious show of force, he twisted his wrist, and sent the star spinning into the sky, where it exploded like a firework. Some of the crowd cheered, and Vocado felt a sense of superiority swell in his chest.

That superior notion didn’t last long, however, as the opposition finally took to attacking him with some sincerity. The two combatants had decided who would fight who, and it seemed Vocado had been lumped in with Zuqetta.

The young girl charged into the air toward him, and Vocado’s Ki ignited. Try as he might to match her, the girl’s speed outstripped his own, and he was sent spinning across the sky from her strike.

His body twirled uncontrollably through the air, nerves howling as the first of many blows landed. Before he could collide with earth or wall, he shouted, releasing his Ki as he came to a complete stop.

Vocado huffed, leveling his arm toward Zuqetta once more.

”You… I remember you. Nice growth spurt.”

In contrast with his aggressive stance, his tone was surprisingly cordial. Not exactly friendly, but he didn’t seem to hold any major resentment for her either. It was like running into an acquaintance at the grocery store. Recognition, but little else.

”I think I’ll knock a few inches off the top!”

With that, his blaster fired. This bullet sounded more like a cannonball more than a gunshot, empowered by his body’s full might.

The bullet threatened to slam straight into Zuqetta’s chest, knocking the wind clear out of her.

Unfortunately this Vocado was more than capable of keeping his wits about him in the heat of battle and he managed to deflect her attack with some effort on his part- but it sparked some sense of hope in the feline that if she managed to separate him from the King, she might have a fairer fight on her hands while keeping the heat off her partner.

She briefly glanced up at the fireworks, eyes widening slightly in a way that said she was a little impressed with how the Saiyan had turned her attack into even more of a spectacle- but then she went back to the more serious expression she'd addressed him with previously. Until he'd dared to call her an amateur of all things- there was a slight flash of annoyance though it was quickly hidden behind a playful smirk as she fired back her own retort.

"Amateur? If I were twenty years younger I could have mopped the floor with you!" Debatably true, she hadn't exactly been a hardened war veteran but she'd been around the block a few times- and if not for her species' biology catching up to her, she probably would have been able to tangle semi-competently with her opponents even in her base form. Under the assumption this man was to be her opponent, she shifted her stance forward, fists still at the ready as she was eyeing him carefully for any sign of him launching a counter-attack. Possibly as a playful taunt, the feline tensed her muscles, sending another crackle of electricity up her frame.

"Oh, and don't worry- I'm taking this very seriously... but it's not just the crowd who are supposed to be having fun you know?"

Though before this interaction could get any further, it seemed everyone else had the exact opposite plan, her ears pricked up as she felt Taori coming in for a second attack, hurriedly she swung around to see him swinging his leg towards her for another kick- not having time to realise the feint, she attempted to pull her arm up to her face protectively and move to the side in an attempt to dodge only to be sent flying backwards as an explosion of ki hit the other side of her head. She spun through the air for a moment before she managed halt her momentum- righting herself, she instinctively let out and almost cat-like growl and held a hand up to the now slightly frazzled fur where she'd been hit.

"Okay- if that's how we're playing this..." She mumbled irritably to herself before moving back into form, glaring at her aggressor with a clear determination in her eyes that said she wasn't planning on giving in just yet.

Behind him she could see Vocado and Zucetta now going at each other- a hint of disappointment crossed her face as she realised that wouldn't be her fight, and even if she would have been fighting on more equal terms that hope had been dashed as Vocado unleashed a power well beyond her reach- but it faded quickly as she put bared her teeth in a grin then charged forward, attempting to swipe at Taori with a few ki-laced claws.

"Well- your liege, I might not match up to the strength of my teammate but trust me when I say I'll still put up a fight!"

The battle was heating up fast from Tarine's perspective, even being stronger than the average person he was having trouble keeping track of every movement. The King's strike sent a shudder of anger through his body, ki briefly sparking off his tightly clenched fists- wanting to believe he should hate the man with everything he had, he was almost taking his insistence on going for Portobello as a personal attack. But he was aware enough to know any plan he could dream of regarding this person would likely end in failure so as much as he hated it he'd have to swallow his pride and keep watching.
