The army's return to the capital of Sadala wasn't necessarily a joyous one, as the Saiyans would emerge into the grand city to find many buildings smoldering from blasts, wounded in the streets, and a list of the dead to boot. There weren't as many casualties as there could have been, which was one silver lining, but there were certainly more casualties than there should have been. There should have been none at all - those left behind weren't fighters, they were the elderly, the children, the already-wounded and the reserves. The sheer cowardice of the Arcosians to strike at such a moment...
Taori took a deep breath. They would get their recompense, he had to tell himself, but rushing into things would only make things worse.
If there was one thing that brought him relief, though, it was when a familiar face rushed down to greet him, followed by her guardsmen. "Taori!" Alpinia exclaimed as she rushed into Taori's arms. The Saiyan King embraced her almost immediately, and the two shared a brief but tender moment until they let go of one another. "You're safe?" Taori worriedly asked, and Alpinia nodded. "Azuki made sure to keep me and my sister safe, but... God, it was horrible. Explosions everywhere, constant rumbling..." Alpinia shivered. "Combat situations are not for me."
At least she was safe, Taori thought with a relieved smile and sigh. But there was still much work to be done. Taori looked up and around at all the damage, and frowned. "We'll need to start patching all this up, I suppose," he stated, then turned around towards the soldiers gathered in the area. "I know you're all exhausted, and I am as well, but we've got work to do. Start by helping any wounded you can find and move them to the medical center. The rest of you start asking around and seeing if anyone needs help. Understood?"
Most of the soldiers nodded, then went off on their own ways, tired as they were. There were still quite a few people around, though, so Taori loudly asked, "And do any of you need my help, here? Speak up if I can lend a hand."
