The Blood Bridge
It had been 10 days since Maxsuz had last been seen on planet Hera. Some rumors of his untimely demise started circling around and, soon, the scum near his "shop" began devising a break in to steal his possessions. One such plan was taking place right when the Argin arrived from his last mission. Upon opening the door, the masked himônus was immediately jumped by a looter, attempting to knock him out. The mercenary dodged the strike and swiftly cut the attacker's arm off with his alkálipe blade, kicking them away in sequence.
The other robber attempted running away from the crime scene through a window, but Maxsuz threw his sword right into his hand, getting it stuck on the wall. The criminal desperately tried freeing his limb, to no avail, as the swordsman walked towards him. Realizing his situation, the robber pleaded for his life while staring at the expressionless mask with red shining eyes.
"Please, I didn't know this was the home of the Renegade. I was just doing a simple job. We all gotta eat, just like you!"
The mercenary remained silent, getting ever closer to the looter.
"I beg you.. I have a family. A wife, a daughter. I need the money. I swear I'll never come here again!"
Maxsuz bent his knees and looked right into the eyes of the criminal, as he was staring into his very soul, then stood back up.
"Spare me. No one in this city would be foolish enough to come here without knowing who owns this place. Who hired you? What did they want? Give me that information and I might not make your head a trinket at the entrance.
The robber gulped as the image of what was described crossed his mind.
"Y-you're joking, right?"
The Argin tapped the sword stuck on the wall, making it vibrate. The shaking made the looter squeal in pain. Maxsuz asked nonchalantly.
"Do I look like someone who makes jokes to you?"
"I don't know what you want. We aren't working for anyo..."
"You have 5 seconds. Five. Four. Three. Two..."
Panicked and fearing for his life, the robber gave in.
"I'll tell you anything you want. Just leave me alone!"
Behind the two, the first criminal who had attacked Maxsuz was readying a strike with a baton, using his remaining arm. Right as his weapon came down, the himônus turned around, holding the aggressor's wrist while choking him with the other hand.
"How many times do you think someone has tried doing that to me already? It's pathetic, to be honest."
The mercenary gave his enemy a swift end, then turned back to the one still stuck on the wall, now horrified. He sat on a couch nearby and drank from the bottle on the table beside it.
"Names. Motives. Locations. I want everything. Tell me or die... Choose."
"Yes, yes, I'll tell you. I was supposed to deliver your possessions to the Red Claws at Kalen Bridge, at the Eder Asteroids. They seemed to want something in particular, but they didn't tell me what. You can find their club just before the bridge. It's called Night's Flower. Talk to the barkeeper, and they will get you in touch with the Claws."
"The Claws, huh? It's been a while since I have last interacted with their rotten kind. I'll certainly pay the Night's Flower a visit."
"S-so that means I can go?"
After finishing drinking all of the bottle's content, the masked man replied without looking towards the robber.
"Yes. You can go."
The looter sighed in relief, then remembering where his hand was.
"But... I can't leave being stuck like this. Could you please take this thing out?"
"I said you could leave, not that I would help you do so. Make it quick, for my patience is running out."
The criminal gulped again, realizing what he had to do to escape. The scene was gruesome, but once it ended and the robber had left, Maxsuz took his blade off the wall, cleaned all the blood from it and sheathed it.
"I hope the music in this club is good, or I'll be pissed..."
The Eder Asteroids were two space bodies orbiting around each other at the nearest asteroid field Their size, along with their gravitational stability allowed them to became an outpost in that Solar System before heading to interstellar space. Maxsuz had arrived at the main biodome there in a few hours with his Attack Pod, and would walk around the dirty and wet streets of the asteroid as if the crime happening all around him was typical and mundane. It was just as bad as Hera, home to all the trash in the galaxy, yet the once prince felt at home there.
Eventually, the Renegade arrived at Kalen Bridge, a massive structure which would link the two asteroids together. He looked around, spotting a badly lit up sign stating "Night's Flower". The bass of some music playing inside could be felt from outside. He walked up to the entrance and opened the door. Hundreds of people were dancing to the terrible electronic music inside. Blue and purple light would illuminate the dance area, hiding the ugly walls and cheap decoration. Not wasting any time, the Argin walked through the crowd and got to the bar area, then sitting at the counter and waiting to be served.
