"Mr. Shade denies any and all accusations of misconduct while in office, end of story. These slanderous claims are baseless once the seemingly logical crux is debunked and thusly Mr. Shade would like to state that others who continue to try and press these accusations against him as of now will be facing slander and libel lawsuits at the earliest further convenience." Kin Kais above it was a nightmare to deal with cases that attracted massive media pull. Yangcong had been bad enough for what the trial actually was concerned with, but when a big-time politician accidentally got caught in those little illegal activities they generally liked to pull on the side, which meant the public was much more invested in it. Shade was of course, guilty, but as an attorney with a reputation to keep and money to make, the court verdict would be the opposite. In this particular case, there'd probably have to be some chicanery in order to actually arrange the proper verdict given how monumental of a slip-up Shade was caught in. The evidence was stacked so high against the man that Satanael would probably be forced to resort to less than legal methods in order to ensure his freedom.
One of the reporters managed to shout a question out above the rest of the constant noise, the attorney sighing and pushing her glasses up a bit more. "The talk of Mr. Shade being in a secret cult that worships Demons is an easily disprovable rumor that the prosecution also wishes to dispel given at that point wide knowledge is likely to cause an unfair verdict." A man gets caught embezzling funds or sleeping with someone else's wife and apparently they also now are a moon deity sent to mind control the population. How much weird theories even gained traction in the first place was beyond bizarre. "...Regardless, no further questions will be answered at this point until the trial begins properly. Please direct any further question to Prosecutor Butters about the ongoing nature of the case." Being the defense also meant she didn't have to put up with the constant pestering either, as that responsibility fell solely on the government's lap.
