Back to the Saiba Wastes. He wasn't very happy to be back here, but with the war unfortunately on pause he had to make Zeni somehow. The "bounty" was relatively simple- for each five Saibamen he killed, he got a small sum. An individual Saibabeast was a larger amount, and there was some lucrative reward for killing something called "Jawbones." The creatures had become a nuisance recently, dangerous predators that hunted travelers and soldiers throughout the wastes. From what he heard learned, the breeding pits were filled with the things, but it was far enough away that it wasn't worth the effort to prune. The Saiba wastes being invaded however caused many more problems for the more permanent locals of the outpost- the main problem being it hurt business.
He leaped forward, lopping off the head of a saibaman in one fell sweep. He turned at the sound of a hiss, quickly killing another mid-leap. He scooped up the dead creatures, placing them in capsules. He sheathed his blade once again, stretching. The job was more boring than it was difficult. The Saibamen were easy to kill, but annoying due to their sheer numbers, speed, and their tendacy to blow up. The Saibabeasts were significantly more difficult to hunt down, often trading blows with the mercenary, but of the few he had fought so far none had had a real chance of seriously wounding him.
He frowned, looking at his newfound scouter. 5,000 PL- far higher than any of the wildlife. A wandering traveler, or perhaps another mercenary hunting the bounties as well? He crouched low to the terrain, searching for its source. Shadows climbed over him, and he suddenly vanished. If it was a hostile, he didn't want to risk being ambushed.
