BACKGROUND: Haupien grew up on the streets of Konats, but remembers unusally little of his childhood (although he doesn't care much about the hazy memories). His family had little, but his father made sure to teach him how to fight and defend himself, as well as how to use the family's only valuable, a treasured sword.
When he was an early teen, he was scooped off the streets by a mercanary company looking for new recruits and his real life began. His fighting skills were honed, and he took special care to become truly skilled with his blade. He won't admit it, this was his only connection left to his old life and family and he valued it greatly.
As he learned to fight and kill, a hidden talent began to emerge. Whether some gift he had always had, or something he had somehow picked up in his journey through the stars made little difference to him. This gift was the ability to use and control his own ki, manifested in the form of shadows. Now a hardened veteran (for his age), Haupien seeks the perfect place for a mercanary- the homeworld of his fellow mercenary, Mazye.
