Yangcong was sitting in one of the judges tables and was looking to the arena to see who the next fighters were. The first man that had came forth, seemed to be a blind samurai man that had entered the arena known as Hanzo. Yangcong had raised a brow and looked to the other judges.
"Is this even fair?"
One of the judges had replied back.
"Anyone can join the tournament. It's their own choice."
Yangcong had kept quiet and simply just observed the guy. Hanzo was thirty year old male who was a human who was in desperate need in order to get strong for this tournament in order to win the prize money for his family. However in desperation for power, he got aid from a demon who would grant him the power he wished for, in exchange, the man was robbed of his vision permanently. Hanzo had stepped forth into the arena and got on both knees as he had his sword placed in front of him still in the sheath as the blade and handle were faced to the left and right. Yangcong couldn't wait to see who they would be fighting against and was so excited for this match up!
The first chance Ward had at combat with a mortal came in the form of an Earthling taking the side of a Demon during a misunderstanding in front of a convenience store. To say that wasn't his idea of a great first impression or a great first fight given how it ended would be an understatement. Ending up laying face up, staring through a hole in a roof on a bed of broken glass and stale chips was embarrassing and even his ego managed to take a sizable hit. It seemed as if fate was giving him a second chance with a more appropriate setting, especially for mortals.
Making his way onto the well constructed platform, he gave a long stare at who his opponent was set to be. The noise around him was as mute as the sight of it all was to the man across from him, focused and curious. Another martial artist with a blade, but one it seemed who had no intention of putting it away as the fight started.
"I have no intention of showing you pity due to your affliction, and I hope you show the same manner of respect to me in return."
Even if the man couldn't see him, Ward brought his hands together and deeply bowed towards him. Both hands moved apart simultaneously as an opaque energy formed in the palm of each. In his left hand what looked like a piece of cloth that would have been hard to make out from a distance formed, and in the other a blade that looked like an exact replica of Hanzo's. The blade stabbed down into the ground as the cloth was used to cover Ward's eyes, tying it around the back of his head tightly before he reached out and grabbed the weapon to pull it back up, holding it out showing he was ready and willing to use it.

Yangcong had raised a brow as the next fighter who had joined was the same shinjin that didn't bother protecting him from the assassination attempt. He simply shook his head in disbelief, wondering why he would even bother joining if he didn't like the violence to begin with.
Hanzo began to stand up to his feet, grabbing his sheath and pulling out his sword. He threw his sheath out of the arena and focused his attention to the sound of the man's movement and footsteps. He could tell the distance he was at, what he couldn't tell was, by how much. He took a sniff into the air and in that instance, he could tell that the foe wasn't that far away. Hanzo lifted his sword up just above the waistline area and held his sword with both hands. He wouldn't give this man an inch, and immediately blurred straight forward towards the man, using his nose to pin point the man's location and with a quick instance, he would attempt to horizontally slice the man's neck open with a quick movement! Hanzo was going to use his disadvantage as an advantage! As he kept moving more and more, he vanished from in front of the man and appeared behind him from up above, still using his nose as his guided source. Now attempting to perform a second strike right above his head! 233
Ward was oblivious to the fact that Yangcong was as close by as he was, and there was a chance if he knew he might not clearly remember him. Their meeting was short lived, and the impression he gave was likely enough to cause Ward to get stares if they met again. Given his outright refusal to attack the people that had ambushed Yangcong, it was understandable how he might find Ward joining any sort of martial arts tournament strange.
The motivation to learn and the chance to experience this was enough for Ward to participate due to sheer curiosity, as he was far from competitive. Unlike the man now standing to face him, Ward had nothing on the line and nothing to lose or gain from winning this match. Ward also had no empathetic connection with the man's story to be so inclined to allow him to win, and just enough pride not to lose to a mortal if he was going to stand toe to toe with them.
His blade came up s did his feet from the ground as the blade came across, using his weapon to block the strike and the man's strength to push him back without having to exert extra effort to do so. This warrior was skilled for sure, but he was relying so obviously on his physical senses that he was leaving himself open to be tracked otherwise. Ward ducked down as if doing a squat and sprung forward as he sensed the energy above him, not bothering with blocking or parrying, letting his blade scrape the ground loudly to ensure the swordsman knew exactly where he was headed.
The sword he had created stuck into the ground to stop his motion forward as a second was created, leaving it, then the new one stuck a few feet away and a third created. Again the blade was stuck into the platform now creating a triangle of blades around him.

231Hanzo's eyes had squint, his first attack had clashed with another sword and he could hear it perfectly clear. The second attempt had failed and struck the ground. As he lifted his sword up again, He heard another sword strike in front of him. He raised a brow, with no change in wind pattern or any sudden movement from the man. He wondered where this sword had came from. Was he fighting a demon? he thought this to himself.. Then a second was made and finally a third. It had surrounded him and struck the grounds in a triangle like fashion. Hanzo was confused and smirked as he faced the gentleman and continued to lightly sniff the air.
"Do you really think you can deceive me?"
Hanzo wouldn't let this trickery be his downfall. He would slightly mutter to himself as he held the blade in an upright fashion and close to him. He spoke these words that could not be heard as they were light and almost none coherent.
"Demon of the west.. Please.. grant me your power... I ask this now..."
His blade began to glow, pure crimson in color and as he now swayed his sword to his right side and allowed the tip of it to touch the ground. He now rushed straight towards his opponent and finally leaped at him, hoping to stab the man effectively!
"I'm afraid like so many before, you have misjudged my intent. This is no deception."
For a brief moment his muscled flexed as his aura flared, pushing energy towards all three swords. From each there was a loud hum that rang out until his aura died back down and Ward began to relax once more. It was clear his opponent was using his other senses to make up for a deficiency in sight, but to what degree he was unsure of thus far. This was a proficient swordsman, but to what extent what yet to be seen.
Reaching up and grabbing the cloth covering his eyes, it was pulled away and tossed aside, causing Ward to squint for a moment. He had no intention of leaving it for the fight, but only to get a moment of understanding, putting himself in the blind man's position.
"Be careful who you call on for power, they might be listening more carefully than you realize."
The three blades stayed where they were as did Ward, spreading his feet a part and taking a deep breath as the man charged quickly. At the last moment he swung his arms in a motion upward, only at the point of impact did a pitch black blade appear to catch the incoming strike for a fraction of a second. Ward stepped to the side towards one of the planted swords and shifted his stance, no intention of stopping the attack, but redirecting it.
Both hands released the hilt and came up and forward, now standing to the left side of Hanzo, aiming to palm strike his ribs and his left elbow. The sword clanged to the ground but didn't disappear, laying at their feet.

403Hanzo's sword had impacted another and Hanzo had smirked as he didn't realize that the man had moved from his position.
"As strong as you are. I was granted this power and I will win!"
However, Hanzo's vision is what truly would be his downfall. He took a full impact on his stomach as he was now thrown to the side and deceived by the trickery that the man had displayed. He landed straight to the ground and now on his side as he was injured on his left side severely. Yangcong had watched the match unfolded and was starting to enjoy this fight. A nearby waiter had came over and handed Yangcong his wine as he took it and began to sip it so, glueing his eyes to the fight without paying the waiter any attention at all. Hanzo rose up from the ground and used his nose to detect the location of the fighter as he faced him.
"Please... Demon of the west. I ask for your power... your full...power..."
He had whispered the last word, and now his body began to bulk up and going from a human color to a dark crimson red as his body now going from 5'5ft in height to 7'0ft in height. His weight going from 150lb to 300lb in pure muscle. He now easily toward over the shinjin and at the center of his forehead! It was a gigantic eye! This eye wasn't of Hanzo's vision... It was that of the demon himself! The demon could now clearly see the shinjin and he smirked as he looked to the shinjin.
"I was able to fully take over this human's body for the time being of course. It looks like I am fighting a shinjin hehehe. You know we demons talk about you all the time! You shinjins are second rate compared to us demons! hehehe! I never expected to fight a shinjin all the way out here since most of your kind stick to that other plane of a world!"
The demon now rushed towards the shinjin, now spawning two gigantic size swords that matched his size and attempted to crush the shinjin with all of his might!
"NOW YOU WILL DIE AND SUFFER JUST LIKE THE OTHERS BEFORE YOU!"
This demon was no ordinary demon, he was a hunter that killed shinjins back in his world and was considered a bounty hunter.
Hanzo was quick to stand, but Ward held his stance for a moment longer before standing up straight and exhaling. There was a second shortly after as the blind swordsman spoke, much louder.
"Power is never simply given, it is earned or at worst traded for. I fear you do not know the true price of the power you call upon."
The crowd, the judges, they were all blocked out. Hanzo had Ward's full attention. Whoever this demon was he called for had no doubt taken something from this man already given how ferociously he fought for his current power, but Ward would have never guessed his sight. There was a worry in his eye that he couldn't show for what might happen for even more power, and what that power might do to Ward if it was as dangerous as he predicted.
"That's unfortunate. There's always a price."
Ward's hands slowly came together, touching only his finger tips against one another and immediately began to glow a bright white surrounding his entire body. His pointer fingers moved from one another, then his ring finger, his thumb, and as each did the swords split a part. He was surrounded by six swords, then twelve, until there was no more room and each one touched another, leaving a circle around him. The light from his aura shined off of each metal surface casting beams of light and shadows around him as the aura itself began to grow.
Even as the demon charged, Ward bent down carefully and picked up the sword he had dropped earlier, though to anyone watching it would have looked like an incredibly swift action. Anyone watching that could sense his energy could feel it had quadrupled in power, but the giant white aura still growing around him was a fairly clear visual indication all the same. His right hand came up as he watched the two swords coming down towards him, running it over the black blade, and upon impact it shifted. No longer a sword held in Ward's grip, but a tower shield each the size of one of the demon's blades.
With all his might Ward shoved into the attack and screamed, sending a shock wave across the stage. Ward's entire aura looked to disconnect from his body as the peak of the scream's sound and was flung forward in the first truly violent action Ward had taken. The full force of his energy was pushed into the demon as Ward held his ground and kept the shield pushed against the blades.

512The demon's gigantic eye that was centered on his forehead had widen in mere shock. The shinjin was much more powerful than the demon had originally thought. As he came down to clash his swords against the sword that now got turned into a shield. The demon had now felt the powerful surge of electricity striking the shield, going through the swords and finally striking Hanzo with extreme pressure. A powerful gust of wind and shock wave was clearly displayed as the shinjin was pushing with all of his might against the swords. The demon had dropped his swords due to the pressure of the shock wave and the electricity coming forward! The demon tried using both his arms to push back against the shinjin in hopes of it succeeding!
"YOU MAY BE STRONG, BUT I WON'T BE GIVING UP!"
As much as the demon tried, it became fucking useless at this point! The amount of full force that the shinjin had done, blew the demon far away from him and his body impacting the ground with strong force. The ground he had laid on began to crack and the gust of the was still going. Just when the demon thought it was over, he rose up to his feet and stared at Ward with a frustrated facial expression.
"THIS ISN'T OVER! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT FRUIT COMPARED TO ME!"
The demon had spawned a gigantic board sword that now rested on his shoulder. He would go in for his ultimate attack in order to beat this shinjin once and for all. He would directly jump so high into the air that it made it look like he was an ant for a brief second. The demon wasn't going to be out shined, out classed by a shinjin! As he was now descending downwards towards the shinjin, he would hold his board sword in a stabbing motion. The blade itself began to turn from a normal color to crimson looking. The demon further evolving his transformation by growing several eyes all around his arms and body and getting slightly bulkier in nature. He was so lust for power and strength that he was determined to win this fight against the shinjin. As he screamed with a violent yell, the judges all began to stand in unison along with Yangcong. This fight looked like the climax of it all! A shinjin versus a demon! Two polar opposites that fight for good and evil!
"I WILL DESTROY YOU! WHO CARES ABOUT THIS TOURNAMENT! YOU WON'T BEAT ME!"
The demon hoped to break the man's tower shield defense and claim his life in the process! Yangcong looked to the demon with his eyes shining brightly as he looked to the shinjin he had met prior. He shouted at Ward!
"Lets see what you got!"
He was rooting for Ward even though they had their own conflicts, he wanted to see what a shinjin could do when pushed this far into a fight! Just how strong was Ward deep down? Yangcong had thought this to himself!
This wasn't by far the first demon he had run into let alone fought, so the way he was being antagonized rolled off his back with little more than a momentarily furrowed brow. This was however the first time he had seen a mortal look for power and end up with their body completely taken over, which made the fight more difficult than it needed to be. Aside from the clear increased strength he now had to contend with fighting this thing without hurting the host further than they had hurt themselves.
Both arms raised as the shield raised to block the massive blade coming down at him, knowing his materialized shield was in no way strong enough to defend against what was coming at him. At the moment of impact he jumped back and into the air with all his strength, letting the blade sink into the shield and shatter it to pieces. As he hit his apex in the air, it felt as if time was standing still, looking around at the audience, some of the other fighters that had came to watch, the judges. On a personal level none of them meant anything, but this was not part of any balance. This was an idiot mortal jumping into the deep end and putting people in danger for wealth as far as he could tell.
Both arms spread out to his side as he began to come back down, screaming and pulling them back tight against his body.
"Enough!"
The blades that he had placed earlier all pulled from the ground and hovered for less than a second and as Ward had moved his arms the blades moved in sync and all directly at the demon.

309The sword had shattered the gigantic shield that the shinjin had used! The demon was excited for this as he watched the shinjin jump away and to the air. The demon turned to look at the shinjin and smirked.
"HOW'S ABOUT YOU STOP RUNNING AWAY!"
The demon took one last launch straight to the shinjin, however, a series of blades coming from all around him had struck the demons body in all directions. The demon's eyes had widen in mere shock after being struck and finally collapsing to the ground as the demon's skin had been washed away, along with the gigantic eye and several eyes around his body being reverted back to base form. Hanzo along with the demon, were killed instantly. The crowd started to cheer, the judges all stood and Yangcong simply watched as he got up and walked away from the cheers that the man was given. It had just go to show that even this Shinjin is capable of killing. The silence filled now as the match was over and if Ward was paying attention to the body of Hanzo, a picture of Hanzo and his ten kids along with his wife. He was truly fighting for the money to give them all a means to survive. The body was removed and Yangcong was back in his palace and looking over the balcony to where he could see the body being escorted off the premises. He kept his left arm to his back as he stood there to sip some wine. If Ward wanted too, he could join him at the table that was on the balcony and the two could discuss somethings. If not, Yangcong would call it a day and just watch the next match take place. Nevertheless, He wanted to see why Ward even joined the competition despite their last conversation.
Gravity had taken over as Ward's body was lowering much like Hanzo's back toward the stage floor. A wide wave of his arm dispersed everything he had created before he feet touched the ground, and all at once every sound around him was clear. Both feet hitting the ground, the sounds and lack there of throughout the crowd, the shuffling of feet onto the stage where the fight had just taken place all bombarding his senses.
At no point did Ward's facial expression change, and the moment both feet were solidly back on the ground his arms moved behind his back as he stared down at Hanzo. Whatever had overtaken him was gone, which meant Ward and the others in the area were safe for now, but he knew this was likely far from the first or the last to call whatever that was for power in the same manner.
He knew the cheers were for the vanquishing of the threat that the others had fully grasped, but he felt no pride in what he had done anymore than he felt remorse for the mortal he did it to. This was just another mortal taking a short cut to power and paid the price, and for that Ward could feel no sympathy for him. Among all the people watching the scene, it was the man he had met before that stood out, locking eyes with him as he stared up before disappearing from the view of the crowd and Yangcong.
Ward was now standing to the right of Yangcong in the same instant he had left vision, looking down at the stage quietly, that same emotionless look Yangcong would have seen from him before.
"Why are mortals so obsessed with power? Why would someone who seemed to have so much to fight for in his own mind throw it away willingly for such a meaningless fight?"
Post by Otherworld Yangcong on Apr 14, 2021 9:03:24 GMT -5
205"Even though I didn't know the fighter. It seemed like he was fighting for something more than himself. I watched as he allowed the demon to fully control him in order to win this match. The prize money is more than enough to sustain a whole family's life. A shinjin like yourself could never understand that."
He would look over his shoulder at the shinjin.
"Power is everything in this world. It's how it cycles throughout the world. If you are the one with the power, you can dictate what goes on in the world. Power means everything and your best bet is to grasp that concept."
Yangcong would fully turn to look at the shinjin and started to sip his wine.
"Have you seen the events that has happened on Planet Plant? What would be your solution to a 60 year war that hasn't ended yet? I have been trying myself to end this war and I am gathering enough forces to do so. I plan to do something about it this time around since I have the strength to do so. You are a shinjin, couldn't you intervene and do something about it? Or do your code not allow you to do it?"
It was hard for Ward to emotionally connect with the idea of family like Yangcong clearly could. Even from their previous meeting he was talking about his son, so perhaps there was a part of him that could empathize with the man on a level that was impossible for any Shinjin. Family didn't mean the same to a Shinjin given there was no such thing as a blood relative, and even friends were a unique case.
The idea of money wasn't something Ward fully understood either as far as something he ever experienced. He was becoming more aware of both ideas recently, but they were foreign concepts to say the least. The Shinjin stayed quiet as Yangcong spoke, watching as Hanzo was carried out of sight completely, looking out at the area they had just fought and watching the crowd shuffling around.
"I will admit the concept of money at all is strange. We Shinjin don't use currency like many mortals do, so it's strange to think someone would so willingly give themselves up for it. Life is precious, even if mortal lives are so fleeting, so what just happened confuses me. I fail to see the logic in it all."
Yangcong spoke of power like someone my speak of the air they breathe, and it frustrated Ward, even if it didn't show on his face. He stepped forward more to stand next to Yangcong, then in front of him leaning out to look at the scene fully.
"Perhaps to a mortal power is important, perhaps to other mortals it isn't, I'm not sure. I can see how you view power as important when you word it how you do. It's not just a matter of raw physical power. It was the power the Shinjin possessed that brought the universe as you know it into existence. It's that same power that helps keep the universe in balance. We might be looking at it differently and through a different view, but there is some truth in what you say."
His eyes narrowed at the question, shaking his head. This was the second person who had mentioned such a Planet, and just like the other he didn't know the place they spoke of. In this mortal realm it seemed knowing the planets around them was normal, but it wasn't something Ward had been keeping track of up to this point.
"I don't know that Planet you speak of aside from hearing the name once recently. It was spoken of by someone I can't recall the name of that I met in Otherworld. They claimed to be half Ogre and half something that started with an S. Say-something. I wasn't paying enough attention I admit, as she was a strange creature with a bad temper. She mentioned fighting on said planet, but it was such a fragmented half-explanation that it didn't make much sense."
His breath released in a long and loud sigh as he stretched his arms over his head before returning them behind his back and turning to face Yangcong once more.
"It's not my place to intervene in the wars of others. I know nothing of them and they do not involve me so I'm not sure I could then involve myself in them. The wars of mortals are nothing new, and it's like many more will happen after your time, and likely even after mine. Balance dictates that fighting will happen due to conflict, it's inevitable. Being a Shinjin doesn't mean I should step in to stop said conflict, that isn't what we do. I personally prefer to watch and keep the balance, not so much the peace as it were. It would take a long time to explain the rationale and from what I've seen most mortals simply mock the idea of balance as I see and follow it, so perhaps it's pointless to attempt."

As he listened to the shinjin speak his words, he nodded at a few parts and finally spoke in.
"You may not understand currency since it's a mortal thing. But i'm pretty sure you aren't as ignorant to the universe at all. You see, there is only two paths in this realm."
He would lift his two index finger upwards as he faced the shinjin. The left finger represented the poor and the right finger represented the wealthy.
"Money fuels this realm and it all depends on which side you are born in. The poor folks have to suffer day in and day out. Working for a living and paying their ties. The wealth also work, but not as much as the little guys. They provide money to others and are the kings and queens of this universe. They run the shows here while the others watch. If we didn't have this system in place, we would go back to the days of fighting over resources like barbarians and kill one another. We would be like the animals out there in the wilderness."
When power was mention, Yangcong had dropped his fingers and sat back down.
"Power can be used for good and evil. As you already know. We had the barbarian age and the medieval age... depending what culture you are in and from, they still old present to this day. While other cultures have advances, others had stood still like they never wanted the change to begin with or fought so hard that change couldn't happen at all ever.As of right now as we speak, the war on planet Plant is still ongoing. A 60 year war that had claimed lives on both sides.
I will be entering this war and fighting for what is right. The saiyans have done their evil deeds in trying to claim the lands and territory of the tuffle race. Isn't that not the definition of evil? Invading anothers homeland and slaughtering them like animals to try to claim the lands that aren't your own? You as a shinjin, who holds the balance of this realm and knows good and evil. Why will you simply just watch all these events take place and do nothing about it? You were curious enough to enter a tournament match and kill that demon before you. Yet you have a chance to actually change the events for a good cause.
By helping me get rid of the saiyans, either by driving them off the planet or ending their generational line, you would be stopping a war entirely. You may tell me, that you don't want any part of it and let it run its course. That's fine if you want that to happen. But when good people see bad people do evil things, then their will be more bad people than good and when one hero or good person wants to step in and destroy the bad people. It will be too late because the good people who just stood by and watched. Could have done something before to make the difference.
I don't expect you to understand the mortals or this universe that you all created. But if you don't want demons like that to take control of the innocent or evil to prevail. Then why not stand for a cause? Because I have met a demon vampire lady not too long ago. That told me about you shinjins. You and them are like opposites of the same coin. What if those demons invaded you shinjins and out of nowhere, they had the power to do something about it lets say. Would you really just stand there and let your brothers and sisters die to them? or would you stand up and destroy the demons. Ever since I met you, I saw you as a sign of hope in this world and perhaps you could really change this universe for the better. As you can see, I am an old fart who doesn't have much time left in this world. I don't expect my current good deeds or how I see my deeds as such to save me from the gracious of hell that await me. But damn it, I will die with a smile on my face, a joke in my pocket, and my fighting heart knowing that I fought for what I believed in until the bitter end."
He finally pulled out his whisky flask and took a drink before standing in front of him and touching both of the shinjin's shoulders.
"I don't want the day to come... where you chose to not help us or the world itself because it doesn't involve you. Let evil continue to spread through this universe and the moment the demons of this realm, decide to help the other evils of the world and let them enter a portal that a demon had told me about. And let those evil demons open the doors to your universe that you shinjins are protected from us mortals. I really don't want the day to come where all of the evil have killed the heros of this realm and decided to go after the big guys like you. Don't let the world crumble later on, when you know deep in your heart. that you can be the change today and actually do something about it."
He would walk past the shinjin and kept his arms to his back, hoping that he would reach this shinjin's heart and let him see that this may be a world that his people had created, but it is also there responsibility to not let the chaos overcome the good, because it can affect them since the demons are the root of evil and if he choses to stand by and do nothing, than his own people will suffer. Since he is one of the few shinjins and a strong one at that, Yangcong had hoped that this shinjin would actually be the change of this world and not a bystandered.
