"I understand the exchange of goods for services and bartering, but the obsession with wealth and currency eludes me and seems pointless. Perhaps when I've lived three lifetimes of a normal mortal lifetime, perspective is different."
This wasn't the first mortal to talk of wealth as an importance, and it was thrown around as a type of power that Ward found ridiculous. He was unaware of a lot of the exchanges that happened in the mortal realm, but the idea of a form of currency holding sway and power in any form baffled him. It seemed like one of the many trivial things mortals held important, and the man he had just fought was an example in his mind of how it only corrupted those seeking it with no limits on how they would obtain it.
"I've seen those with much such more than those without many times over. I'm aware I don't understand everything yet of how this mortal realm operates, but to predicate happiness, success, and power on this currency wealth is beyond me. If you mortals choose to fight over resources when you have far more than you realize, that is not the system or the wealth to blame. You choose to fight with one another over possessions and wealth because you want more than you need. Extravagance for the sake of status and attention. Statues no one needs, housing far larger than anyone needs, clothing for the sake of garnering attention, weaponry to destroy to take all of it from someone else to have more. I haven't observed all worlds, but I've seen enough to see it's rarely a fight over the need and usually a fight over the want more than someone else. It's rarely necessary."
Ward's tone was calm despite the meaning behind his words. It was starting to feel more like he was being lectured to than something explained to him. The idea of a being with such a slim view of the universe telling him of power brought out a small chuckle even that was quickly reeled in and stopped.
"Speaking of a sixty year war to a being over three-hundred and fifty years. Speaking of power to a being part of a species responsible for creating your galaxy."
This was the first true show of emotion from Ward, beginning to pace as he walked away from Yangcong, crossing his arms across his chest and taking a deep breath as he caught himself.
"You mortals so often confuse good and evil as forces that need removing so one prevails over the other. Balance isn't about ensuring what you consider good triumphs anymore than allowing evil to run rampant. Balance is about having the light and the dark. What would your planet be without the sun lighting up the day and the rotation of your planet allowing for a cycle of darkness? If the planet was always lacking sunlight the plants wouldn't grow, your food supply would wither. If you had the sun all hours of the day your temperature would surely rise, and many plants would wither away in the constant light and heat. The universe is the same. You need creation for destruction and you need destruction to make way for new creation."
His hands rose as his fingers interlaced with one another, facing towards Yangcong once more. His truth and Yangcong's truth varied greatly, and it was likely neither would easily sway the other given how fervently they both believed in their stances. Trying to explain his views likely made as little sense as Yangcong's did to him.
"What you see as inaction on my part is anything but. From your perspective you are seeing a micro-moment and it is so impactful to your personal life that it is all encompassing. My role as a Shinjin is to watch, but we also create. There are those out there that's job is to watch and to destroy on the same cosmic scale as the Kai I aspire to. Going and killing these Saiyans fixes nothing on the whole except putting blood on my hands, which I promise you will cause far more problems than it would fix. I don't expect you to understand that, but it's the truth."
The mention of a Demon telling him about Shinjins brought him pause and curiosity. The Demons knew of the Shinjin, but they would no doubt know far less about the Shinjin than the Shinjin would about Demons. The idea of them being anything remotely alike, opposite coin or not was enough to cause Ward to scoff, and while it was true they kept the balance in their own mindless way, they did so by sheer circumstance and nothing more. Agents of chaos and creatures acting on their instincts with higher IQs than some as far as he was concerned.
"If the demons decided they wanted to go after Shinjin, firstly they'd have to find where we live which is something they simply wouldn't have the knowledge of nor the ability to reach. Secondly, for as powerful as a Demon might become they pale in comparison to most Shinjin truth be told. Their strength is physical and usually little else aside from parlor trick magic as a mortal once said to me. It would not bode well. There are others in the Otherworld who wouldn't take kindly to it either I would venture a guess, so again, it would not bode well. Do not take inaction in regards to mortal affairs as weakness and unwillingness to react. Taking action doesn't always mean raising your hands and striking down a foe. There are many ways to suppress a threat than annihilating it, or worse, destroying yourself in the process."
Walking past Yangcong, he leaned back out and looked at the stage. To him this war was the equivalent of the fighters battling in front of the crowd. His eyes closed as he let out a loud sigh, turning to the man who was clearly putting his heart on his sleeve to ask for help, opening his eyes as he narrowed them towards Yangcong.
"That was a well thought out and impassioned speech, but I fear you've given it to the wrong person. There are plenty here stronger than I am who would almost certainly rally behind your cause, or fight for the sake of battle, maybe even for nothing more than that power and wealth you spoke of before. I'll go to this place where the fighting is taking place and I'll observe and witness it for myself. That's the best I can offer as of now."
