Picture of a Vessel
There was not a place in the sky free of spacecraft. In an inky ruinous picture of black night, the sky before Splice was littered with gray hunkering masses of machine that groaned, purred and screamed. Splice had lived well enough to know a few things about the empire. And to say he was not repeatedly fascinated by the sights of this scientific progress, was an understatement. It was such a deep and cavernous reality that split and junctured at points that ceased to make clear sense or rhythm unless you truly studied the roots. The chain of command from high Emperor to lowly soldier have all in some ways benefited from this port.
Like a lung that breathes in and out, it was the movement and the constant flow of the out and in that made the difference. Constant movement is necessary or else death soon settles in with necrotic and perverse excitement. "There goes another one," Splice uttered, observing the spacecraft begin to take off for launch with unyielding presence. The Biodroid tapped the side of his scouter as a series of data quickly rushed down the screen. Date of creation, common materials used, the corporations and people responsible for such a craft. After ample study of the ships above, Splice would absently stare about and draw his focus to advertisements nearby.
Looking at what was essentially a giant green holographic panel with circuitry visible nearly beneath the translucent screen. A loose hive of Imperial soldiers, drifters and strangers alike all stood in rough proximity to the advertising screen. No matter which way you looked at it, curiously enough, the panel seemed to perfectly look parallel to the observer. "How curious," Spice said as he approached the panel and reached for a digital button that hovered slightly away from the screen.
Upon pressing the button, the generalized holographic advertisement screen shifted from a random assortment of products to all space-faring vessels Imperial design. His eyes grew wide at the sight, staring at the pictures. The luminous reflection caught in his visor's eye. "A large freighter would be nice. Maybe I could take one of these for an expedition. And visit one of these strange locations. How sweet might it be to conquer some of these tedious, non-Empire-affiliated planets. The Empire has been looking for more soldiers after all. To extend the reach of this great plan." Splice grinned further, staring more deeply at the pictures he'd made project out of his device. Soldiers muttered about around him, but stood away with some modicum of distance. It was hard to tell indeed if they were staring at the Biodroid or the very screen he was looking at.
