BACKGROUND: Shoga lived a terribly rough life on the streets of Hatchi in her childhood. Having lost her parents before she was even old enough to recognize her situation, she was taken in by a homeless Saiyan named Negi who also roamed the streets. In his time, or so he claimed, he was a General in the Saiyan army, losing his job and livelihood due to an injury he sustained in combat. He began teaching Shoga martial arts when she began to show an aptitude for it as a child. Shoga thought of the man as her father, loving him just as one would their real parent.
As a Saiyan living in a Tuffle city, the two faced severe discrimination and persecution from the local authorities. If people noticed Shoga walking down the street and saw her tail, local citizens or even the authorities would throw food or rocks at her, spouting abuse in her general direction. Negi was slightly more fortunate. His reputation as a grizzled Saiyan veteran kept him free from most of the abuse by normal people. However, he would often find himself running afoul of the law, being thrown in a Tuffle jail until he slept off whatever substance made him believe that what he did was a good idea.
Seeing how Shoga began to struggle with their life and the abuse she suffered at the hands of the Tuffles, Negi imparted on her an important lesson that would inform the way she lived her life from then on; "Take what you can get, give nothing back, and smite those who seek to claim what you have earned." This would strike a chord with the young Saiyan girl, and she comitted herself to becoming the strongest around... if anything, so that she would be strong enough to keep what she would take. The girl began to sneak out to steal food and medical supplies for Negi's injuries. She became quite adept at not getting caught... but in the times when her stealth failed her, Shoga showed no aversion to slaying all witnesses... even as a teenager.
These methods made Shoga rather infamous in the city, and soon many were talking about the "Bloody Burglar of Hatchi." Soon, she grew used to simply surviving on the fringes of society, convinced that she could have no other life than the one she found herself in. However, she would soon meet an individual that would change her life. One day, upon hearing news of a powerful and rich businessman who was staying in the city, she broke into his hotel room in an attempt to steal food, money, supplies... whatever she could find. She was quickly caught by the businessman, and soon she made an attempt to kill him. This man was an Arcosian by the name of Ais; CEO of Arcose Ice Services and the father of Gelus. His strength dwarfed hers, and she quickly found that her blade had trouble finding its mark. Upon delivering a shallow cut to his cheek, however, Ais put an end to the battle in one blow.
Despite his minor injury and the damage to his hotel room, Ais was impressed by the young Saiyan's tenacity and skill. Instead of killing her like he normally would in this situation, he offered her a job as his personal assistant. She would be his fixer, and in exchange she would be given the lifestyle she always dreamed of; complete with a penthouse apartment in Arcose's Kuriza City and a hefty salary. Shoga distrusted this man, but she saw an opportunity to help herself and her adopted father. The lesson he taught her-- to take what she could get-- caused her to accept his offer. However, upon learning of this, Negi was furious.
She had betrayed their pride, throwing it all away for the promise of a better life. He disowned the girl, telling her to never return. Having lost her only family, Shoga left with Ais the very next day. She had been working for the clan for the better part of her teenage years, and then all of her adult life. Despite him disowning her, Shoga was sure to send her adopted father a sizable portion of her salary every month, though she figured his pride would keep him from really using it. She soon made a name for herself as someone who would follow orders and complete her mission at all costs. She was soon assigned to Gelus, as Ais was beginning to think about retirement. She would do like she did for Gelus's father; protect him, remove all of his obstacles, and even get him his morning coffee if that was what he required. Having watched the young Arcosian grow up, she felt a certain fondness for him, and welcomed this opportunity to guide the young man into someone who would one day be a ruthless and successful CEO. It just remained to be seen if he could be guided at all.
