CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE: Wears an “Arcose Ice Services, Inc.” pin, which he usually keeps pinned to the lapel of his black suit. Beneath is his navy blue dress shirt, which he wears with a turquoise tie. He wears black slacks and fine black dress shoes with this getup. On each finger, he wears at least one ring. Clearly, the Arcosian is trying to flaunt his wealth. He stands at a rather shrimpy 5,0" in his first form, with two horns on his forehead that curve back over his head. The gemlike growths on his head and abdomen are colored turquoise and his skin is a cobalt blue.
BACKGROUND: “Money makes the man.” That’s the family motto of Clan Ais. No matter who you are, no matter what you’ve done, the only true measure of your worth is the size of your bank account. It was into this sort of family that Gelus was born. His father, the clan head, Ais, founded a company that specializes in the sourcing and distribution of large quantities of ice. His business, the Arcose Ice Services, sources ice from Arcose’s moons and distributes it throughout the galaxy. A dull business, but one that made his father quite wealthy indeed. As his father’s firstborn, Gelus was groomed from birth to one day take over his father’s company. Expectations were high. Failure was not an option. This period of his life instilled in Gelus an inhuman work ethic and by the end of it, he knew the company inside and out.
However, he would also develop into a perfectionist, always wanting everything to his exact specifications and refusing to do a task with anything less than flawless execution. He learned many valuable lessons from his father. How to run a business with cutthroat efficiency, how to maneuver conversation, diplomatic or otherwise, in such a way as to raise his social profile with others, how to quickly learn and copy a foreign planet's etiquette on the fly, how to defend himself if coin and honeyed words failed, and most importantly of all, he learned to take the utmost pride in his clan. Beginning as a site supervisor when he was a teenager, he was known as a harsh and brutal taskmaster. His methods led sometimes led to worker riots, but production overall was way up.
Gelus adapted and learned very quickly how to quash any attempt his workers made to organize before it turned into a major problem. The Arocisan worked his way up the ranks (with more than a little nepotism involved) to one day take his place at his father’s side as his President and second in command. He takes the operations of the business quite seriously, mostly because the thought of losing the money and lifestyle it provides is terrifying. However, while negotiating an ice deal with a company on Earth, Gelus botched it, much to his father’s dismay. Gelus begged for the opportunity to make it right, and his father told him how he could make that so. Go to Earth, and set up the new branch of Arcose Ice Services, and put the competitor out of business.
As Gelus departed, his father made one thing clear; if he fails, he should not come back. Gelus wants, more than anything in the world, to make his father proud. While starting this new business venture on Earth and pushing their competition out of business would be a good start, it would not go very far to truly making his father acknowledge him. That's why he not only wishes to accomplish the task he has been given, but to acquire an entire planet that the company can use to exploit for its labor and natural resources. Whether by coin or conquest, he would one day gift his father an entire planet of their very own.
