The aura surrounding Erebos faded. He hadn't realized it'd still been swirling around him while he was hopping about. With his power-up subsided, his shadow returned to his side, waving at him from the ground. "What, the beam thing? Yeah I just copied what you did. I do it all the time. My whole thing is picking up on stuff super easy. It's how my magic works, kinda."
His shadow peeled itself free from the ground, and mimicked the motions of the Kaahumanu yet again, only this time little more than a dust cloud came forth. It shrugged, and then returned to the dirt. Nodding toward his shadow, Erebos shrugged. "It's a little hard to do more than once in a fight, though. I really have to focus to pull it off a second time, and at that point it might not be worth the trouble."
So it was a she? Erebos didn't mind that. His mind went racing, imagining a muscular middle-aged woman, breaking rocks with little more than a pinky. Nodding, the young Oni clapped his hands together, before bringing a third hand out of his shadow, offering it to Beowulf to shake.
"I think it sounds pretty fun to learn how to fight hand to hand. I'm Erebos Herosbane. Former prince of a demon clan, now traveling vagrant. What's your name, friend?"
So that was how he managed to pick up the technique so quickly, he had some sort of magical abilities which allowed him to copy the attack. It also looked like he had some sort of sentient shadow as well, that was interesting. Even still, training alongside a guy like that could be fun, and he knew the Hare hermit would accept this guy without much hesitation. He seemed to have an athletic build and the confidence to match. "Well, it's an interesting ability to say the least. Maybe you'll have to show me how you do it some day," he would jest.
With their fight coming to a close, the other students of the dojo would walk back to their respective rooms. The man would offer Beowulf his hand to shake, and stated his name. Apparently this guy was some sort of demon turned good guy, he was skeptical, but had no reason to not believe the man. Beowulf would shake the guy's hand and respond "I'm Beowulf Orin, the temple's name is my surname. I was found without one, so they gave me one... I'm sure the Hermit would be more than happy to take on another student. She'll love to hear her fighting style is getting popular."
"I can surely try. You've got the hair for it, at least." He giggled, and brought a few locks of his own hair up to Beo's head. Their hair colors were identical! They were sure to become fast friends.
"Beowulf, huh? That's pretty cool. I hope your hermit is cool, too."
And so it was that Erebos gained yet another new friend. Maybe his folks were right. His old friends, too. Erebos was enjoying this whole being nice thing. He'd have to check in with Kaza to see how her interactions had been going. Thus far, she seemed quite bored with the whole affair. Hopefully that didn't form a wedge between them. Then again, being good didn't mean he had to shine shoes and help old ladies. He just had to make sure not to kill anyone, and he was already pretty good at that.
"So how far is this place, anyway? We don't have to fly there, do we? If we do, I'll just have to ride in on your shadow; I'm no good with heights."
Yes. That was totally an excuse, and not part of why he never learned to fly. One hundred percent. He sure did love heights. Yup.
Man, if this chick was on a mountain, he might have to reconsider...

Mister Steel: Chomei's estate is vast, and marriage into the family can only benefit Marimba with access to cattle, pasture land, and much grain to feed his armies.
