Laezi lay sprawled out on the rough mountain grasses of the Spinach Wastes, too tired and hungry to care about how they poked against her skin. Beside either side of her stood two large pillars, the Earth behind them ground away and rent up as if they had been pushed and dragged back and forth all day. Loose rubble, both small and large, lay in heaps along either side of each pillar, both having large, thick ropes tied around their necks, the ends of which lying beside the Majin's hands. The little blue girl lay dirty and scuffed, her palms in particular, sweat rolling down her face as she stared up at the sky through half-lidded eyes. For whatever reason, she thought that moving and pushing rocks around would've gotten easier by now... From the coupl-a people she'd seen around this place sometimes, they make it look like it were the most natural thing in the world! Heck, rocks bigger than THESE would be worn away just by being next to those guys when they powered up! Laezi had been lucky enough to catch sight of one of those strangers once... and unlucky enough to be as close as she was because the moment his energy exploded... so did the local chunk of wasteland... and Laezi herself.
...That was another thing. She never DID figure out how she woke up perfectly okay after that. She coulda SWORN something important was damaged when she blew up, maybe something along her head or across her face... but nope! When she woke up, she was covered in rocks, SURE! Dirty? She was cleaning dust out from under her breastplate for hours after that! But wounds...? Nothing!
"Hhhmmmmmgh..." All of this musing was irritating the little Majin, made her brain hurt... and hurting was something she could use a little less of right now. To relieve her aching brain, Laezi rolled over on her side and allowed her heavy eyes to fall shut, hoping to fall into a deep, restful slumber... As her mind, as exhausted by now as her body was, faded away, a passing realization that perhaps it wasn't a good idea to fall asleep out in the open like this slipped passed by. For half a second, Laezi almost latched onto the thought, a vague fear of a stray dinosaur chomping down on her slipped through her mind... and into darkness as Laezi fell fully asleep.
...For the first time in a long time, Laezi was not plagued by nightmares. Rather, of better days. She found herself back home, her Mother in the kitchen cooking. Laezi sat at the table in a seat much too tall for her, the little blue girl's legs swinging lightly between the chair legs. The faint wisps of a savory dinner cooking touched upon the nose of Laezi's dream-avatar, the ghost-of-a-scent making the real Majin smile and roll back onto her back. It was a familiar dream, one she'd have sometimes. Although Laezi knew she would never get to know what the dinner being made was, she... didn't really want to... because then she'd be hungry. And then the dream would end.
...And she didn't want that.
"Momma!" The dream-Laezi called out, reaching for the Majin woman. "I luv yoooou!" The woman would turn... her face... vague as if shrouded by fog. Laezi blinked and cocked her head, confused... as kitchen exploded.
Laezi snapped awake, JERKING up into a sitting position. Her chest rose and fell heavily, her silver eyes wide, almost trembling in their sockets. She looked around frantically, realizing that she was back in the wasteland, her skin all itchy and prickly from the stubborn mountain grasses she laid upon. The little girl said nothing, merely pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. She rested her chin upon her kneecaps and stared out over the empty wasteland, her mother's vague facial features replaying behind her eyes.
"Why did she look like that...?" Laezi whispered into her knees. "...She never looked like that before..."
