Today was the big day, the moving day. It was a bit of an administrative hassle to transfer his ma's medical files from Earth's health care system to the Empire's byzantine, multi-layered medical system. Forms were filled and a rather vocal altercation between Yakito, an Imperial representative, and the director of East City's general hospital occurred - the crux of the problem was apparently something related to a portion of his cripplied mom's already diminished subsidies being pocketed by the hospital, which obviously caused a reticence for the director to let her go.
This made Yakito absolutely fucking livid; since that Derry scandal happened, the Chomei government had been cutting in some aspects of their spendings in an attempt to try to stabilize their budget. Vulnerable people such as his ma already got the brunt of it, so when the androgynous foxling heard about that selfish greed coming from the representative of the system supposed to take care of his beloved ma, he went ballistic. It took his mom's sweet, mellifluous voice -Kami bless her for her patience silently witnessing the verbal joust until that point- to calm him down.
Honestly? Screw Earth.
"Good riddance." The red-furred femboy muttered under his breath, exiting the hospital at a rather frantic pace with a wheelchair being pushed by him. Its occupant was a soft-featured Zoan woman whose delicate figure was encapsulated into an hazmat-esque bodysuit with a built-in air filter. She spoke up to her son with a disarming smile, her petite hand idly caressing a shell necklace of her Yakito's own crafting. "My little tomato, you didn't need to be so rash with them; I could have waited a little more! Mh, these shells are so smooth... I can feel it through the gloves." Yakito sighed, his gait slowing down now that the hospital was behind them. "As always, you're rite, ma. Still, I feel like you've waited long enough!" Knowing better than to argue her son's convictions when it came to improving their lot, Marian simply chuckled as the two of them stepped into a capsule shuttle emblazoned with the Armored Squadron's symbol.
"Oh, this is quite cozy..." Maria said, wistfully looking at Earth's shape growing distant from the shuttle's window. "Heck yeah you bet it is! I gave the Emperor's engineering team your specifics and they came up with some quick-drying spray periodically cleaning the shuttle from all contaminants. On top of that, there is a cabinet with enough medication to last you a lifetime! We got board games, a television with some of these old crusty movies you like~" Marian exploded in a guffaw at that last quip as her son kept rambling on how AMAZING their shuttle was.
Quality time was spent between mother and son until the two of them settled for a nap in each other's embrace as the shuttle kept drifting toward its destination: Arcose. No matter how big he now was -which was still a bit smaller than herself- Yakito remained Marian's precious boy...
"OI CAPTN'! THERE BE A SHIP ON DAH RADR!" Drawled out a heavily scarred Heran pirate whose gaze was driven on their ramshackle cruiser's radar. "LEMME SE, QUARTERMASTER GIBS!" A massive Heran unit with a distinctive braided red beard contrasting with their bald head replied, the thud of his boots echoing against the pilothouse's metallic floor. With his elaborate crimson coat embroidered with gold thread, that robust fella was probably the captain.
A drone was dispatched to investigate the approaching shuttle. Its image was displayed across the big screen for the pilots and captain to witness. "FOKEN HELL! IF THIS ISN'T THE EMPIRE'S SYMBOL ON DIZ HULL. MENZ, PREPARE TO BOARD AND BE RICH!" The captain stated, his surly voice carried across the entirety of the massive vessel thanks to the intercoms. Herans and aliens alike scurried to the armories, arming themselves with plasma pistols and vibroblade cutlasses as the menacing cruisers emerged from behind the moon orbiting the wild planet where their stash was.
Yakito was woken up by a tremor that shook his new vessel and the ensuing alarm that blared loudly. Stirring awake in his mother's arms, the vulpine Zoan made haste at checking the control panel of the ship for the cause of the ruckus. "WAIT WHAT?!?!?!" This is when Marian woke up. "What is it dear? Are we there yet?" The answer to her question brought a chill down Yakito's spine. "Uh, no... don't panic, but I think we're being boarded..." This is when the crackling of blowtorches made itself heard, creating two opposite pinpoints of light boring through the shuttle's hull as they began to move in a slow circular fashion to carve an opening. "DAMMIT!" With his snout scrunching up in a scowl, Yakito hid his mom and her wheelchair behind some bolted furniture. Once this was done, he quickly crouched next from where the red hot circle was slowly forming with sparks flying about in the two blowtorches' wake. Yakito was ready to pounce and eviscerate whoever came out from the impending hole.
From an outside point of view, there was a boarding tube ending in mechanical claws that shot out from the Heran cruiser to grip the comparatively lilliputian Imperial shuttle. A classic scene in the ruthless confines of wild space.
