BACKGROUND: Yakito's life is a bit complicated, to say the least.
On top of having to balance his infuriating minimum wage job at a burger joint with online college courses to attain the coveted teacher certification, Yakito's mother is terminally sick. This bad gene always ran in the family but, instead of being unable to weave ki like her son, her version of it mutated to cripple her immune system - a minor cold can be a matter of life and death for her.
Most would give up under such circumstances. Sadly for fate, Yakito is not most individuals; the androgynous youngster swallowed his pride and did what he had to do to ensure a steady supply of income to pay for ma's palliative care. He could have turned to crime against innocent folks, which would have been his decision if he didn't have some underlying sense of ethics.
Indeed, despite being an ordinary red fox Zoan without any remarkable predisposition for the use of ki-adjacent abilities, Yakito was born hella strong for a Earthling. This innate strength -combined with his proclivity for getting into fights thanks to his smugness- meant that looking at street brawling in underground arenas became a viable option. After all, could he really be at fault if people willingly offered themselves to the beating? Certainly not!
Consequently, Yakito participated in his first fight club somewhere in the shady alleyways of East City.
He got absolutely destroyed.
That crucial defeat marked a turning point in the red vulpine's life, for he had to make sacrifices if he wanted to stand a chance against actual threats knowing how to put up a fight. Yakito postponed his own aspirations by ditching college to offer himself as a test subject for a Tuffle biologist who got fired from Orange Star after tempering with animals belonging to the veterinary department.
Was it worth it to get strapped to a chair and injected with an experimental cocktail of performance-enhancing stimulants?
Yes, for ma's sake.
It is not like Yakito ever had to deal with this suspicious Tuffle biologist ever again; he disappeared or something, Yakito can't quite remember about the events following his convalescence. Even though he sometimes finds himself standing in unfamiliar places with severe memory lapses and lots of blood on his claws, what matters is that he's now crushing the competition to make ma's very finite days cozier.

Dopage took its toll on Yakito, causing lost figments of savagery to sporadically come out when he is under duress. When this Utility technique takes effect, Yakito loses all inhibition and reverts to a feral state. The likes of civility and speech are discarded for an animalistic demeanor and heightened senses.
Utility Technique || Survival Instincts (Starter Utility Slot #2)
Yakito is simply unable to use ki thanks to a birth defect. To compensate for this, he has a danger sense allowing him to detect any potential threats in the surrounding area. More often than not, this will trigger a fight or flight response despite his better judgment. The efficiency of this technique is impacted by the likes of Antisense and ki control.
