CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
APPEARANCE:
(credit to myself, #stellaluxverum@discord)
HEIGHT:: 5’7
HAIR/EYES:: blond|violet-crimson
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: cat-like pupils and abnormal coloring of the eyes are normal traits of a Mysticari. As Stella is of Luminari descent, her hair predictably took on a blond coloring in thanks to the rays of the Elderglow. As she is what's to be considered a "late bloomer" - any wings she may produce at higher stages of evolution, would not retain these aesthetic properties and instead appear dark in color as a member of the Umbrae. Natural to Mysticari genes, one's mana (ki) evolves to change in hue alongside that of the eyes.
ATTIRE:: Subject to vary given whatever ruse she's undertaking at the time. Though underneath a tattered red duster/short sleeved jacket, Stella is most commonly found wearing black tops with a violet skirt, leggings and high top sneakers. She also sports a purple bow in a braid or tie on the either side of her unkempt hair.
PERSONALITY: If there is anything to be said of Stella, is the charismatic yet unsettling confidence which exudes from the girl, who defies the gravity of most any situation with a quick-witted, demented charm. At times unfazed by danger or threats around her, she maintains an inappropriate calmness, even in the face of impending mortal peril. Stella openly revels in mocking others, finding entertainment in their reactions, their decisions; all the while offering an unsettling amount of assistance or disturbing insight to whomever she decides to set her sights on. Whether driven by a desire for amusement or a genuine intention to spur egos forward, her motives remain shrouded in mystery to the very last.
The snarky blond is fond of hobbies which stimulate a level of intrigue. When she isn't engaged in attempting to craft new spells, or dabbling in alchemy, Stella is often drawn to either a place full of books, or a place of isolation where she can clear her head and energies. She is picky concerning most forms of tea, is mostly pescatarian, and is more inclined to spending time in nature - due to most of her upbringing having been within the confines of a metropolis. The girl enjoys magic and power like a child would candy - always curious and eager to try something new, thus she's always seeking a means to broaden her own horizons in this area. She may eschew a leadership role from time to time, but Stella can display a willingness to collaborate for her own gain, cunningly masking whatever intentions with her aloof and charismatic persona.
The concepts of romance or friendship are not entirely foreign to her, but neither has ever been a true calling or investment to the girl. Thus, its often been questioned by peers if her behavior is instinctually habitual, or intentional simply to keep others at arms length for protection's sake. Despite the seemingly endless depths to the pools of her patience, there exist limitations to her tolerance to her time becoming wasted, or her agendas disrupted. A person with no friends may be humble when tested. Stella is bold, and cruel. When pushed beyond this line, she unabashedly voices her true desires, often sparking conflict with her unfiltered tongue. Beneath that smug formality lies an arrogant and crafty individual, adept at concealing her true intentions. She plays the part to get what she wants, simple as that. The affable charm is but a façade for a clever and mindful manipulator - a true witch, if ever there was one.
BACKGROUND:
Mysticaria
At a point before recorded history, the world suffered a significant impact from a meteor, causing a release of elemental life forces from deep within the earth. This event had a profound impact on the ancient civilizations that inhabited the surface, altering both the land and its inhabitants. The Mysticari, through their studies of this phenomenon, uncovered the existence of magic within their own blood tied to these energies. Over time, this discovery led to the formation of the two oldest clans: the Luminari and the Umbrae. The event, known as Time’s Scar, made the world vulnerable to incursions by several demonic entities banished by Yemma at the beginning of the first known age. One of these demons attempted to exploit the planet's wound by attempting to implant a Seed of Might to harness the elemental energies for its own purposes. The tree that sprouted from Time’s Scar was not the result the demon expected, but rather an anomaly changed by the energies where it had been planted. It became an extraordinary source of pure light, providing warmth, nourishment, and a sense of bliss, comfort, and peace to those who lived beneath its radiant branches.
Sometime near the beginning of the 3rd Age (300), a curse birthed by the energies of Time’s Scar began to ravage the lands, transforming folk and beast alike into monstrous abominations. The curse was naturally blamed upon anyone but The Tree. Many were ridiculed, feared, then hated, from those of the Umbrae, to any oni or demon that had found a life of opulence among the natives. Those Luminari who were raised and lived beneath the grace of The Tree, were granted a genetic deterrence to the transformation brought onto those who lived outside the walls. Those in the Umbrae developed technology to replicate this process yet undertaking the procedure sacrificed one’s connection to the planet itself. Thus, many in Tenebrae lost their ability to harness their gifts over the arcana in the world. Those few whose blood kept them from harm, took control by means of force through their retention of magic, then turned their sights on the Luminari. Enough time passed from this event that the true nature of the golden sapling and the nature of the curse would be lost to time, distorted in myth and legend by those who sought to shroud the truth.
A great war for control of the City of Light gripped the lands between the two powers, eventually bringing ruination to most of the civilized world beyond the safety of the walls. Lumina Vista was eventually retaken near Age 418 by the descendants still harboring ties to the ancient bloodlines of the people. A group of these pure bloods aligned with then betrayed Umbrae, and would become the new line of royalty after slaying the last 'lord' of Hell. Any other true demons discovered were cast to death within Time’s Scar at the roots of the Elderglow. Those who possessed traces of their blood became mixed with the shunned, lower-class citizens of society. The Tree would develop a deterrence of its own to act against the curse, releasing spores into the upper atmosphere, where its collected energy changed the natural balance of the weather, warping, stagnating the elements of the world itself. The clouds crawled to a near still, light drowned the skies and burned away crops, villages, and livelihoods without prejudice - all while abominations hunted the common folk like prey. The royals set themselves apart from the corrupted ones, both within and beyond the walls of their city, then sought to proclaim it the last bastion of hope in a world now wrought with death, famine and war.
Stella
This tale began many years ago within the confines of Lumina Vista, where a young witch by the name of Stella grew into her magical powers a little late. Despite being written off as a runt during her judgment at birth, or the lack of a proper family or home, she grew to contradict this with a gift to read and chart constellations. That was before the light grew strong enough to blot them out. Stella was a rather aloof and charismatic individual, with a reputation for offering an unsettling amount of insight and assistance to whomever she felt was worth the attention. She was as clever as she was smug, yet a charlatan among her peers – a true knave if ever there was one. Those who attended academy alongside the girl could attest to her relentless curiosity and mischievous behavior.
It was little wonder she had very few friends, if any close confidants, to call her own. Merely by choice or reaction to her behavior was anyone's guess. When she wasn’t making trouble for someone simply out of a desire for entertainment, then Stella probably had her nose buried in a stack of tomes somewhere in the tower. The dedication to her craft and studies earned the blond minx an apprenticeship on Lumina Vista’s astronomy team, where she was often criticized for her radical perspective and theories on the world and universe they inhabited. With the vanishing of the stars, most of her duties were reassigned to the archives, where she spent her time prying or experimenting.
Once upon what appeared a routine day, the witch was approached by a traveler named Hallot; who claimed to be from another world and sought her help in fulfilling some ridiculous prophecy about god-like beings bringing ruin to his home. She had him thrown in prison, which turned into a rather dramatic affair with several individuals above her standing. He was released, and yet persisted in dropping by the astro-towers to bother the young witch. Despite the skepticism of others, even her own in the first week or so, Stella eventually became intrigued by Hallot's tales and agreed to meet him to learn more about his plight and how she could help – in her own unusual way of course.
Stella became fascinated with Hallot's idea to stop them and the concept of the "Golden Ones," wondering if it was simply a fever dream conjured by his subconscious. She desired to gain power and recognition by contributing to this creation. Despite the complexity of crafting this “map”, she eagerly volunteered to help. So, in the months to follow Stella explored metallurgy, alchemy, and armoring in Lumina Vista’s trade markets, seeking experts to assist in making Hallot’s desired artifact. Though she faced much ridicule, she found an ally in Shepp, a goldsmith, and together they planned to create Hallot’s ring. The process would involve intricate inscriptions, in addition to requiring a forbidden sap from the fabled Elderglow, and a rare ore found in the distant ruins of the fallen kingdom, Aeternia. The challenges would be arduous, so Stella arranged for Shepp and a few former academy peers to accompany Hallot on the perilous journey, while she set out to procure the golden sap.
The adventure began with Stella gathering a group of skilled companions to seek help from Ortho, a specialist in "gold matter" hiding in the rival kingdom of Umbrae. Their quest uncovered a dangerous plot that threatened Lumina Vista's existence, forcing Stella to choose between fulfilling her promise and fighting for her home. Despite her belief that she could achieve both, and resolved to venture to Time's Scar to try and obtain some answers. This path led to the loss of these companions, the destruction of her reputation, and an encounter with the spirit of the dying Elderglow. Rather than obtain what she believed might have been a sap, was instead the last three golden seeds of The Tree itself. After revealing her vision of The Tree being set aflame to those in the Golden Covenant, she was decried a heretic for her theft of The Tree's essence, then hunted by their forces into hiding. At some point Stella was reunited with Hallot and the remainder of his crew. Despite the news that Shepp had perished along the way, and the revelation from the spirit, the pair remained determined to see the traveler’s project through.
Hallot concluded the only way to continue forward, was to leave Mysticaria behind. Stella would try to fight him over the feeling of being used, only to lose the vial containing the golden seeds to him instead. Hallot explained there was no means to finish his map on her doomed world, but that Stella still served a purpose in seeing its completion to the end. She was taken prisoner by the crew, and held within the ship's modified brig for several months. The witch grew to resent Hallot, forcing her to leave behind all that she knew for the sake of a maybe. During their visits to several planets and stations, the small group and their prisoner would encounter members of Hallot's former army patrol. They were out hunting the traitor Hallot, not simply for the affiliations with his missing Tuffle colleagues, but for the very idea behind this ridiculous pursuit over a myth. They proclaimed to not suffer a traitor such as he to live, nor those who so willingly accepted such foolish lies.
The crew absconded to Arcose after a fight broke out against these soldiers, where Stella found herself dragged to some questionable market in the depths Kuriza City. Hallot would rendezvous with these "missing" Tuffles at an old forge, where Stella was forced to watch the creation of this lunatic's vison in the form of a golden ring. A holographic map that formed on the saiyan's palm when it was worn, as had always been intended. Charts and paths she spent months scribing for the project, now danced in golden light in the hand of a masterful liar. What they really intended to do with whatever the map lead to, was beyond the young Mysticari's guess. Those hunting the crew would arrive not long after, allowing Stella to slip away with the stolen ring midst Hallot's carelessness in the chaos.
Relentlessly pursued by several captors, the witch fled into a darkened cryogenics lab, where she thought she had finally shaken them off. However, they caught up with her, leading to another struggle that ended with the girl accidentally locked inside one of the testing pods. Despite their attempts to force it open, they were unsuccessful. As she drifted off into a deep sleep, Stella recalled smiling. Over the next hundred years, the lab changed hand of ownership several times as part of negotiations or leverage between different Houses within the empire. Age 1024, a surge in the electric grid occurred due to someone's testing of a prototype in the neighborhood, causing a reboot in the now lightly manned facility's operations. Some of the long-term contracts were lost with the deactivated pods, while others opened far ahead of schedule, including one containing a very grumpy blond girl.

Utility Technique || Witchcraft
One’s blood as a witch of the Mysticari allows Stella to bend magic or manifest and banish matter at a whim. Utilized to craft a variety of necessities from out of thin-air (such as a particular staff) this is also used for the creation of theatrics, aesthetics, and other trivial items used in the work of managing mischief by magical means. The cons to this ability are the set scriptures put in place to bind weave/caster for a variety of reasons. The big three are thus: One cannot summon, return or speak with the dead. No granting powerful wishes on a scale as a djinn or ancient Dragons. No ability to alter, nor traverse through the flow of time.
Utility Technique || Mystic Sense
The living and undying spiritual energies of individuals, and those of the world around them can be gauged and catalogued by Stella with focus. This reveals power levels to Stella, determined to her by the intensity of the vibrancy, volume and color of an individual's astral self, or aura as it is also known. To Mysticari it is ever present, so long as the subjects are biological entities & not disguised by Antisense or a camouflage spell (i.e. Mana Veil, Ki Masquerade).
