So the Fauxbian would match them after all! That was fine — Imugi was sure they’d be more disappointed if he hadn’t, really. Though it was hard to keep that same mentality as Tinker’s quick reflexes spared him the edge of their sword, his mechanical tail not just batting their strike away but also coming back around while they were recovering! Imugi’s smile turned to a surprised grimace just as the blow struck true against their thin body. Just as one would expect, it sent them well on their way twirling across the arena until they found ‘down’ again and stabbed the earth, anchoring themself to a stop.
Imugi dared not look up for a moment, combatting the nausea set off by their sudden flight and the new pain throbbing in their side. As Tinker admonished them jokingly, the demon hissed through their teeth, “Ha-! What did you expect?” They lifted their head with mean-spirited sarcasm dripping from their voice, ignoring the slight spin to their vision. “I’m hardly here to give acupuncture and a massage, little friend. I told you I would not be cruel, not that I would treat you as a delicate thing.”
Although their attitude certainly didn’t say as much, Imugi’s uneven breathing and posture gave away how much they were feeling those last two attacks. Pain spread through their body as fire did dry grass. Not that it had ever stopped them before, a grim determination setting in that overpowered the ache in their bones. Drawing up their sword with a grunt of effort, they levelled its point towards Tinker.
“Don’t bow out yet!” They cackled, redoubling their efforts to go back on the offensive. More carefully this time, lest they catch a mean swing of that tail again, closing the distance on Tinker and taking experimental thrusts at the crocidillian alien.
