It was a relief to see Gandigan make an attempt at diplomacy first and foremost. Understandably it wasn’t an easy thing to do for most people, especially if they were handling someone spewing vitriol. Gandigan made his stance clear, all that was left was for the other side to hopefully see reason.
Marimba on the other hand, as blunt and passionate as he always had been since Nero had known him, predictably fought fire with fire so to speak. He was well within his rights to do so, to be fair. Not only was he Mazoku— and very proud of the fact— as far as Nero could tell, Gandigan was basically Marimbas best friend given how the winged behemoth’s words carried. After the aggressor and source of Marimba’s ire bit back with some insults of their own, Nero decided to contact Marimba telepathically. ’Hey Marimba, I’m not gonna stop you from punchin’ that guy if you want, but I don’t think he’s worth the effort. Let him be a hater if he wants to, it’s his fault, not yours.‘
Nero simply listened to the response made to Gandigan from this aggressor. They had a chequered history of sorts if their statement was to be believed, but most people had that about them. What they were saying made sense, at least up until he brought fate into it. The Guru rolled his eyes. To him, ‘fate’ was a weak excuse for failure, a lowly way to blame something other than oneself.
Observing the others, the blue winged Namekian, seemed to have some sort of convulsion, a bizarre violent reaction in Nero’s direction. He only had one guess as to why, and didn’t care for whatever reason she cooked up to be a hater, he just scoffed and rolled his eyes at her, choosing to telepathically contact Gira who was near them. ’Keep your wits about you over there, something isn’t right with that Namekian woman near you.‘
Moments later, a group of Elders had arrived, a decent handful of them, followed by more from other directions. Some mostly kept to themselves, observing the event while others stepped closer; some voiced direct support for Gandigan’s claim. Nero examined them closely, making note of what they had said and how they interacted with one another. Endil and Cajon spoke straight to the point, Kalimba on the other hand acted oddly in Nero’s opinion. He looked a lot like Gandigan, perhaps they were related, if only distantly? Maybe it was more than that, as Nero knew Gandigan had been a victim of memory sealing. Definitely something to look into later, but what bothered Nero the most was how Kalimba spoke to Gandigan, then almost disregarded his existence. Nero’s brow furrowed slightly as he messaged Marimba and Gandigan telepathically. ’I’m not sure I appreciate how Elder Kalimba regarded Gandigan just then, something about that isn’t right to me. Just be aware of that.‘
Eventually, Kalimba addressed Nero directly, his words not matching his tone of voice or his body language. Nero greeted Kalimba with a respectful bow all the same despite this. He didn’t even react to what the Elder said about being non-Namekian, or becoming Guru... However, a good portion of the gathered crowd did. There was discontent and annoyed murmurings among them. Before any of it erupted into something more, Nero held a hand up authoritatively. “Enough. You know I can hear all of you, right?” Nero’s voice carried into the crowd in a deeply serious tone. “Let Elder Kalimba speak as he wishes. His words do not change who I am nor do they change what I have done for Namek. You can acknowledge his opinions and disagree with them silently. Am I understood?” The chatter dissipated almost immediately, and Nero lowered his hand as he addressed Kalimba directly. “By my duty as Guru, I will assess Gandigan officially in this public setting. I am here to ensure a peaceful and prosperous future for Namek in its entirety. So long as nobody disturbs that goal, be it now or another time, there will be no issues.” Nero spoke sternly as well, though not without kindness as it was what would conquer hate in due time.
Ticoga and his group made his way over to Nero. who noticed a moment of discomfort in Ticoga and Magaera with Sentry stoic as always. Ticoga made a comment on the gathering conversationally, to which Nero gave a light shrug. “Peace does not exclude passion. I hope to see those unwilling to learn that can eventually see what they are missing without that realization.”
It seemed that things had calmed down at this point, so Nero gave Ticoga a short wave to politely disengage and chose to take this opportunity to step forward towards Gandigan. Nero’s chest began to glow as the Ajisa symbol appeared on his chest over his heart, pearlescent and in a bright cyan, radiating the light of life itself, the light of Nero, Guru of Namek. “Gandigan. You who aspire to rise and become the Heir of Passion and Power, the Daimaō of this age, hear me. As Guru of Namek, and as your friend, I ask that you open your heart to the people here. Speak the truth behind your passion, acknowledge the coming responsibilities of the role you wish to claim and vow that you will keep the Mazoku and Namek itself safe from threats that may come in the future, and that you will not knowingly draw such threats to our beloved world either. Remember, to make these vows is to understand that should you break them, Porunga’s wrath will find you wherever you go.”
