Gandigan had never taken on a pupil before. It wasn't the sort of thing he ever saw himself doing, yet here he was. Gira had come to him in search of help, and so Gandigan had offered what he could. Despite recommending that she seek out Nero or Zhalla, as they might be more qualified to give her what she needed, Gandigan was always in search of training partners that could help push his own limits. While Marimba and Apexle were more powerful he knew that training with the same people over and over again would eventually get stale.
Rather than fighting within the Outer Plait again, Gandigan wanted a change of scenery. It had been too long since he prayed to Porunga, so this offered an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Using his telepathy, Gandigan sought out the power of Gira and sent a message to her mind. "Gira? This is Gandigan speaking. If you can hear this then I want you to travel to the great Shrine of Porunga. I'll tell you more once you arrive."
With his message sent out Gandigan approached the Shrine itself, getting down on one knee to pray. The words were always the hardest for Gandigan, who felt as though sometimes it was better to simply be in Porunga's presence rather than trying to speak to him. And so that's where he knelt, waiting for Gira to arrive.
It hadn't been long since their last bout when Gira heard a familiar voice in her head. Confirming that it was Gan, her appointed sensei, he requested that she meet him at the Shrine of Porunga. Gira had read a lot about Namek's topography, but she kind of skipped the religion lesson, so she had no clue where the location was that he wanted to meet her at. She couldn't just send a telepathic message back and ask him for directions. Well, she could, but she wouldn't. That wouldn't make a good impression on her new teacher! Instead, she decided to fall back on ol' faithful; her ability to sense ki. Seeking out Gan's energy, she very quickly found it. Someone with a power like his stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the ambient energy of the planet. "So... that way, huh?" She stopped her flight towards the capital and took a detour to a group of islands where she sensed the Mazoku warrior's energy.
As she approached, she spotted her sensei kneeling before a statue of some sort of dragon. Landing nearby, she approached the shrine and knelt next to her teacher, trying to still her mind. She had not yet given up on mastering this transformation. She could feel the energy flowing around her. Gira could feel her own energy as well as Gan's, but she cleared her mind and focused on the creatures that would normally escape her notice; the tiny schools of fish swimming in the ocean, the birds in the trees, and the frogs hopping near the shore. It was quite peaceful here. She could almost take a nap, but not when there was work to do. Kneeling before the statue and meditating next to her master, the young Saiyan waited contently for Gan to present her with the reason he called her here.
Gira arrived shortly after Gandigan had sent out his message. Like with the Namekian she took a knee next to the shrine, though Gandigan did have to wonder whether she was doing it because she understood what it meant or just because she was trying to copy him. The thought made him laugh, which broke his prayer. "Porunga is the God of Namek. He is the only God I know, and is the only reason why I am still alive. It is here where Porunga saved my life."
Gandigan pulled apart his Gi, revealing the scar across his chest. "A few months ago a great evil attacked the Shrine, trying to pervert its powers. At the time I was under the influence of a Demon who had burrowed into my body and planted a parasite there. The day Porunga was attacked was the day I finally broke free from that curse. You should always have a reason to fight, Gira. That day I fought for survival, but today I fight for something else."
Gandigan stood up and stretched his arms and legs. He expected that there would be some fighting come the end of this, but first he wanted to talk. "Tell me why you fight, Gira. To save others? To win glory? Or do you just want to see how far you can push yourself?"
The two had not knelt together long when Gan spoke up, telling her of Porunga, the god of Namek, and the tale of how he once fought here against the influence of a demon and won. The Saiyan teen looked over at him, taking in his every word as the warrior recounted the tale. Once it was finished, he had a single question for her; why does she fight? It seemed like an obvious question to consider for someone who calls themselves a warrior, but the deepest she had ever thought about it was "because I want to." Standing shortly after her sensei and gazing skywards pensively, taking a few seconds to consider why she fought. The easy answer would be that she fights because her brain tells her to. It feels good when she fights and gets stronger and it sucks when she doesn't fight and feels weak. That wouldn't be enough motivation for someone like her, though.
Looking up at Gan, she spoke with her heart instead of her head, blurting out; "I fight cuz I wanna help people. It's a good thing for people with strength to protect those without it, and I wanna be that kinda person! But... i'd be lying if I said that I don't get a rush when I fight. When we fought, it was brutal. Bloody. If my mom saw me after that... she'd never let me leave the house again. But I loved it. Every second. I felt guilty afterwards though, like I shouldn't have." Gira shook her head in frustration. "I don't understand how I can wanna help people, but also enjoy an activity that actively hurts them. I'm afraid one day, that side will take over completely."
Gira gave the sort of answer that Gandigan was expecting. Helping people was a common motivation for training in the martial arts, though with her Saiyan blood there was another side to her fighting: the rush. "I think I understand. You want to protect people, but also want to fight them. It's not that crazy really; you protect the good ones from the bad ones. Some people need to be stopped, else they'll destroy all that we know and love. I found this out myself when being possessed."
Gandigan had sworn a vow that one day he would travel down to Hell and finish Amon off himself; Marimba had offered support, and the two had raided Konats to get a hold of Guiding Candles to do so. "Have you been involved in any real conflicts? Something more than just sparring. The more you are, the more you'll come to understand what I'm talking about. When you face off against those who are truly evil you won't feel any regret fighting against them."
Gandigan was about done with his stretching now, and was ready to get into the swing of things. "I can feel that your power has increased since the last time we fought. The question is are you any better at controlling it? Have you been practicing?"
Gira trusted Gan's wisdom, so she listened to him as he made his response, trying to internalize what he was saying. Protecting the good ones from the bad ones... that is what she wanted to do. But stopping them? That wasn't something she was very good at. She had been thinking about something Megis said, when he spoke of eliminating the villains that were involved in the West City incident. If it came down to it, could she eliminate-- kill-- a villain? Especially if she was the only one who could? She wasn't sure. She wanted to protect people, not kill them. However, you couldn't exactly drop someone like Vale off at the local police department and expect them to have the resources to keep him effectively contained.
Especially since the guy could literally teleport. Then what could she do? Let them go? What if she lets them go and they hurt more people on a different planet? This trip to Namek had opened Gira's eyes to just how many people lived outside of Earth. Each one with their own lives, dreams, families, and communities... they were just as important as the Earth and its people. When asked if she had been involved in any real conflicts in the past, the young Saiyan nodded. That very thing was just on her mind. "I live in West City, on Earth. There was a guy named Vale who called himself a Shinjin, and a demon named Chervii who was really strong." However, Gira thought that she was fast approaching the demon's power from when they last fought. "The Vale guy tried to summon an army of demons there and Chervii was kinda... just there for amusement, I guess. I wasn't the only fighter who responded. A lot of strong good guys showed up too and they were really the ones who took care of it. I tried to help, but I..."
Gira winced, as if the thought pained her. "...I was too weak to really make any difference." What he said though, about not feeling any regret when going up against someone who was truly evil... she wasn't entirely sure. The Saiyan didn't want to kill her Oni rival, just get her to value the defenseless a little more. When he recognized her growing strength, however, a smile returned to the young Saiyan's face. He asked if she was any better at controlling it, to which Gira nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! I've been getting the hang of things. I learned that pride is stronger than anger, and easier to control. If I focus on that, I can at least direct myself towards the bad guys and not hurt my team mates. I can still get carried away though if i'm not careful, but some might view that as a positive." She laughed nervously.
Her Saiyan sense for battle detected that her sensei finishing his stretches meant that a fight was likely coming soon. She was eager to show off her new strength, but she would let Gan make the first move out of respect.
Gandigan listened as Gira recounted the tale of her battle in West City. He couldn't say he knew of the figures Gira mentioned, but he understood battle well enough. There were two sides, and one victor. "Maybe you weren't then, but you're already a lot stronger now than you were when you first arrived here. Whatever happened in West City is small compared to what's coming next. I'm afraid the wars are only going to grow larger, and we must be prepared."
Gandigan was alluding to the upcoming threats he had seen on Plant, going up against the likes of Lottus and knowing of the other Super Saiyans that were looming about. He didn't want to get into detail about that now though, especially not with Gira. She didn't seem like the type who would go down that path, but she was still a Saiyan and hearing those sorts of things might leave her conflicted.
"That's good to hear, but if you really want to master it then you've got to use it. I want you to transform, just like you did last time. Given the progress you've made I'll transform too, but I'll make sure to lower my power down to something that you should be able to handle." Gandigan wasn't quite sure just how strong Gira could get to right now, so he had to try and ball park it based on what he could sense from her base form. The Great Namek form produced a small increase in Gandigan's size, though not as much as if he was unsuppressed.
"I've developed a few new techniques since we last saw each other; let's see how good they are." If this was their first time sparring then Gandigan would have started off slowly, but after what happened last time he was fully aware that Gira was capable of defending herself, and would need to be pushed in order to master her power; there was no taking it easy now. Gandigan placed one hand over the other, raising both above his head while gathering energy.
Soon a small sphere of energy formed in his hands, quickly growing and growing until reaching the size of his head. Once fully charged Gandigan shot both hands forward and fired out an energy wave. "Omoisenkō!"
They had to be prepared. Megis implied much of the same. He planned on preparing by becoming President of Earth and gathering the strongest fighters the planet had to offer. She wondered briefly how Gan was going to prepare for this conflict that seemed to be coming. There was no time to consider that point any further, however, as her sensei invited her to transform so that he could see how much she has improved. With a giddy series of nods, the Saiyan took a couple of short hops back and readied herself for battle. That was when Gan transformed. His power was impressive, and he grew some in size, but Gira knew he was capable of more. Far more. The Saiyan focused, a vein on her head popping as she dug deep and pulled her power out from within. With a brief roar, Gira's blue aura turned green, and flared around her body.
Feeling her new full strength for the first time, she looked down at her hands and chuckled to herself. The difference between who she was now and who she used to be was night and day. Gan was right. If she wasn't powerful enough to do anything during the West City incident, she was now. Chervii wouldn't have been able to simply throw her aside if she was this powerful back then. She had been training a lot lately, but not all that long in the grand scheme of things. The Saiyan knew that the power she was experiencing now was only the tip of the iceberg. It wasn't long after her transformation when Gan attacked suddenly with a brand-new move, making it clear that she was going to need to fight for survival. 'Aw man, of course it has a cool name, too!" Today's training was decided. There was no taking it slow and feeling each other's power out. She was going to need to go all-out from the start.
The Saiyan didn't dodge, didn't even use her afterimage like one might expect. Not that it would do any good. An excited smile formed on the Saiyan's face. She had been training too, though, and she also had a new technique to show off. Putting the tips of her fingers together about a foot out from her chest, Gira looked straight into the blast, undeterred. This was gonna sting, but she had a response and she wasn't afraid. "Banzai Bubble!" A translucent bubble of energy formed around the Saiyan just as the blast made contact. Gira held her pose, her hands trembling as she struggled to maintain the barrier. Finally, inevitably, it broke through, shattering the barrier like it was made of glass as Gira was blown back from the force of the attack, but she dug her heels into the ground to keep from falling to the ground.
Finally, with the assault was finished, Gira still stood. Sweat was beading on her face and she was breathing heavily. She had a couple of first degree burns over her arms as well, but she was otherwise very much in the fight. "That's one powerful attack, sensei. I'd be in pretty bad shape right now if I didn't have that technique. You'll have to show me how to do that sometime." Gira was clearly more relaxed than ever in her normally furious state. Without warning, the Saiyan charged her sensei head-on. "JUSTICE SMASH!!" She aimed a jab in the direction of his face before vanishing beyond him and attempting to aim a savage kick at the back of his head.

Gira's latent powers had grown considerably since the last they had fought; even more than he could have thought in such a short amount of time. He own power would have been slightly below her maximum, but he didn't bother increasing it at all as his current power should be more than enough for a fair fight. In fact the gap between their powers now was probably a lot smaller than it had been during their first encounter, which means Gira would be in for a much tougher test of her abilities.
Just before his Omoisenkō made contact, Gira covered herself with some sort of shield. The explosion forced Gandigan to bring an arm up over his face, covering himself from any debris heading his way. When things settled down he was able to drop his air and look over the damage he'd caused. Gira had been knocked to the ground, though not for long. The Saiyan woman found her way back onto her feet easily enough, as her shield had done a good job absorbing most of the incoming damage.
Being called Sensei up front like that caught Gandigan off guard. Although he understood where things where going, to hear it said like that was something that the Namekian wasn't exactly expecting. "Well, your shield proved to be a capable match for it. Guess I have to keep working on it." Gira didn't waste any time moving forward with her counter, coming at Gandigan with a heavy jab that knocked him off balance, before delivering a kick to the back of his head that threw the Namekian off his feet.
Gandigan fell forward, bringing out his arms down in front of him to catch him from falling face first into the soil. Wiping the blood away from his noise, he followed Gira suit by getting back up quickly. "I'd say that's a solid technique too." Facing Gira now, Gandigan let things rest for a few seconds before springing into his next attack. "This one was inspired by a friend of mine." Gandigan rocketed his arms forward, using his Namekian elasticity to stretch them across the battlefield.
But before they reached Gira he would dig them both into the ground, trying to mimic the burrowing ability of Marimba. The arms would continue their flight across to the Saiyan, with their tracks disguised by the dirt, before shooting back up and attempting to slam into Gira's jaw from below.
Gira watched as her sensei extended his limbs. then dug his fists into the ground, saying that this next move was inspired by a friend of his. A little confused at first, she soon had an idea about what he was planning. Surely Gan wasn't about to do something like... 'Oh no.' A confirmation of the Namekian's plan soon came in the form of his fists bursting out of the ground and aiming two heavy blows that cracked against Gira's jaw, sending her flying into the air. Recovering quickly, Gira stopped her flight through the air with her ki, simply hanging in the sky a little over a hundred feet above Gan. She looked down at him for a moment before readying herself again. Kicking her speed up to its maximum, she vanished from her spot. For a second or two, there would be mere silence, but one would be able to sense Gira nearby if they tried. It appeared that the Saiyan was moving around the battlefield with incredible speed, hiding behind various trees and rock formations before rocketing out of the tree line from her opponent's left and aiming a kick at the side of his face. If successful, she would then attempt to lock her ankles around his neck, and backflip midair, attempting to take Gan with her and slam him face first into the ground.
Gandigan's fooled Gira with his underground strike, sending her up with both fists making contact with her jaw. She continued going up until forcing a stop, leaving the two starring at each other from hundreds of feet away. What was she planning up there? It were he then he'd probably use his diving headbutt attack, but something told him that Gira wouldn't go that way; she was more of a finesse fighter than someone who used brute force, and plus she couldn't recover from self-inflicted damage the way he could.
A moment later and she was gone; vanished like the wind. Gandigan began to rapidly shift his head around, trying to spot where the Saiyan had gone; her energy was still close by, but he couldn't lock on while she was moving so quickly. Suddenly he could feel her power from a lower angle, as though she was lowering herself. He changed his focus from the air to the tree lines, but by then it was too late.
Gira came roaring out from the left, slamming into the side of the Namekian's head with a devastating kick. He would have been thrown off his feet if not for what Gira had done next, locking her limbs around his next and flipping through the air, attempting to drag Gandigan down with her. There was hardly enough time to react, and so thinking quickly Gandigan opened his mouth before contact and fired off a weaker energy wave from point blank range. The wave was aimed at the ground, which exploded on contact and engulfed the both of them.
Gandigan took the brunt of the explosion, as it had practically exploded right in his face. He could feel skin being torn off his checks and his eyes burning before being forced to shut them. The eruption threw him back several feet, and with his eyes forcibly closed he was unable to figure out what had happened to Gira, but knowing the Saiyan she'd probably brush it off and be back to her feet in no time, so Gandigan was forced to do the same. Despite having half of his face blown off the Namekian forced himself up and readied himself for more.
Gira did not expect that move from Gan. She had assumed her lightning fast sneak attack would be simply too fast to react to. She did not expect, however, that her opponent would take every opportunity to damage her, even at the cost of damaging himself. It would be a good lesson to learn now rather than later that some are willing to do that. Unleashing a beam of ki from his mouth, the area around the two fighters was engulfed in Gandigan's energy. The surprised Saiyan shut her eyes in response to the bright light, the heat of the explosion singeing her hair and giving her a minor burn on her cheek, but ironically, the other fighter's larger body protected her from the majority of the damage. The sheer force of the attack forced her to let go, however, and Gan was sent flying. Gira too was sent flying in the opposite direction, smacking into a cliff face before falling onto the ground.
Shaking the cobwebs from her head and assessing the burn on her cheek, she looked over towards her sensei to assess the damage to him. There was no way he walked away from that unscathed, and indeed, she was shocked by the state of his face. Normally, she'd ask if he was okay, but she already knew the answer. Such damage could be fixed easily with his race's natural ability to regenerate. The Saiyan teen gave him a smile. "Well, you avoided my grapple, but this isn't really any better, is it?" She made a light-hearted jab in his direction. "I think i'm ready to show off some of my other new stuff, sensei. This one is inspired by Chervii, that demon I fought on Earth. She had a move that boosted the power of her techniques, and if I hope to beat her in the future, I need to be able to do the same."
With a mighty roar, Gira's energy spiked yet again as her muscles grew slightly and her green aura gained a light tinge of orange on the edges as it grew in brightness and intensity. The soft green glow of her aura highlighted the spiky black hair of her transformation. "Okay, full steam ahead!" Kicking off the ground, Gira aimed a heavy blow at Gan's stomach. Pushing her fist into his gut if she made contact and aiming to send him flying into the air before aiming a beach ball sized orb of green ki in his direction. "JUSTICE CANNON!!!" There would be no pose this time. She was going to try and treat this like a real battle.

He didn't have much of a counter to Gira's remark. It was true that his attack had hurt him just as much as her own would have, if not more. But that was just the way Gandigan was. "I'd rather go out on my own terms if possible." He had been at the mercy of others for so long now, and it felt good to take some of that control back. He could have regenerate back the damage he had caused, but he'd rather save that for when he really needed it.
The Saiyan explained her next technique to Gandigan, though as it turns out he was already familiar with the ability. "What you're talking about is quite common throughout the galaxy. In fact, why don't I do the same?" As Gira began her charge Gandigan powered up, mimicking the bulking of her muscles with his own. Although slower in this force, it allowed him to pack quite the punch.
By now Gandigan was very well versed in the Justice Cannon and knew what was to come. Although Gira's initial shot may have pushed him into the air, the Namekian was able to bring his arms up to cover against the incoming energy sphere. The explosion still sizzled his arms, but thankfully he was able to avoid any more punishment to his face. "You really need to learn some new techniques. Keep using the same one over and over again and it becomes easy to defend against."
From up in the air Gandigan began to dive, protracting his claws during his descent. He continued to fall until getting in range of Gira at which point he would attempt to swipe down across her face.

A look of dread and shock crossed Gira's face when she saw that her boosted Justice Cannon didn't do much damage at all. Up to this point, pretty much everything that attack has ever hit has either been finished or at least heavily damaged by it. To see Gandigan up and about, and mostly unscathed (besides the face wound from earlier, anyway) and mirroring her own power up, it gave her a shock that she wasn't expecting. "H-How...?" She wouldn't get a chance to do anything else, though. Gan-sensei gave her a valuable bit of advice before their fight would continue. It was a criticism that she was vaguely aware of, but it was becoming starkly clear to her now. She needed more techniques. She had been focusing on her defense and her mental abilities, and that was good and all, but her offensive arsenal left much to be desired. A third of it required her to build up a ton of power as well, and in most fights, it's difficult to use practically.
The Saiyan teen's surprised state gave Gan enough time to descend on the her, his claws smashing into her head-on and sending her flying into a rock formation, the entire thing collapsing in on her. After a few moments of stillness, the pile of rubble exploded in green energy, disintegrating the entire thing and leaving only Gira standing in a small crater. She was covered in scrapes, cuts, and bruises, her sensei's leaving four straight gashes across her face. The jacket her mom had gotten her was still intact, but it had a few long rips in the sleeves and the edges were fraying. Deciding to remove her jacket before it got any more damaged, the Saiyan folded it neatly before dusting off a spot on the ground to set it down. Blood dripping off her chin, Gira growled and faced the Namekian again. "Yeah, i'll admit, you're right. I need some more offensive moves. Using the same two attacks over and over is predictable. But if there's one thing I hated more than not being able to protect myself that day at West City, it's that I couldn't protect someone weak when they needed it."
Stepping a safe distance away from her jacket, now dressed in a black tank top, Gira powered back up. "But right now, I gotta work with what I got, so i'm gonna show you everything I can do, sensei!" Charging in Gan's direction, Gira feinted as if she was going to sweep Gan's feet, but instead allowed her momentum to carry her behind the Namekian, where she aimed a hammer strike at the center of his back. aiming to send him flying before she would move through the air at top speed, vanishing from view and reappearing in Gan's path, aiming to smash him in the gut and back with her knee and elbow in a pincer move.
Gira was unable to avoid Gandigan's claw strike, though thankfully she wasn't too badly damaged by his blow. He could understand her concern about wanting to protect people, but he had to question whether or not she was going about it the right away. "Is that why you lack offensive techniques? Because you think focusing on defensive ones will help more people? Let me ask you: what's the best way to protect the most amount of people?"
Gandigan went silent for a moment, giving Gira a chance to think the question over. "Here's what I'd say: by eliminating whatever it is that threatens them. Think about it like this: your enemy sends out two attacks, one is targeted at Group A, while the other at Group B. Which group do you save? The answer is both. You could save both groups by attacking your enemy before they could launch their own attacks, rather than reacting. The number one thing I can teach you is to always be proactive. Always be the one on the front foot, forcing your enemy to adapt to you and not the other way around. Eliminate them before they become a threat."
Gira initiated her next attack, rushing down Gandigan. Just before she got in range Gira vanished, appearing behind the Namekian and knocking him into the air. He assumed that another Justice Cannon was to follow, so he spun around to defend against the incoming blast. Only problem was that this time there wasn't any. Instead Gira herself had gotten in the air this time, pinching Gandigan with an elbow/knee combination, knocking the wind out of him and causing him to fall to the ground.
The Namek landed face first into the soil below, swallowing a mouthful of dirt before getting back up. "Well, points for originality." That was one lesson learned at least. Gandigan looked up at Gira, locking onto her energy before firing off an empowered Shugeki Wave. After that was launched he dropped out of his powered up state to conserve energy. "Puffing ourselves up like that may increase our power output, but it can be draining on the body."
