Things had gone well for Gandigan over with the Ubric Clan. As far as he could tell he had the support of just about everyone in the village; all eleven on them. He could tell the Tapete would be a tougher crowd as soon as saw the welcoming party waiting for him. Word had spread to this section of the Outer Plait that he was planning on making a run at the crown, and there were a lot of different opinions about that. Gandigan had known the Tapete to be sculptors primarily, but they had their warriors too.
With his power they knew better than to try and stop him, but still they followed and stared as Gandigan made his way over to the village elder, where Gandigan asked the same of Cajon as he had of Ago from the Ubric Clan. Cajon gave Gandigan permission to speak to the village. As with before Gandigan found himself a small platform and gave the same speech as before.
"Tapete Clan. I came to spoke to you a month ago about a new future. I should have come to you earlier to tell you the changes I've made to this future, but I'm here now. I'm here to tell you that this new future still exists, but in a new light. I've come to tell you that I will staking a claim to the Mazoku crown, and I want your support." Gandigan took a step back and gave the Tapete Clan time to take in what he had said before listening to their responses.
An elderly man stepped forward, back was immediately shoved aside by a younger, much larger figure. There was a look of rage on this one; if he were a Majin there'd be steam pouring from his head. "I am Balafon, of the Tapete Clan. For a decade I have defended us from outsiders. Despite their best efforts none have been able to fell me. You think you are to rule over the Mazoku? I spit at that. If anyone is to be King then it shall be me."
His first challenger. Gandigan knew that this would eventually happen, and it'll probably happen a dozen times more. He wasn't the only person who wanted to be King, but before known it seemed like a fantasy. No one made a real effort, but with Gandigan around people now felt as though they might have a shot too. They were going to be gunning for him, but that's what all his training had been for. He wasn't afraid of these types.
"You wish to stake a claim as well, brother? Then why don't we settle things now. Strike me down if you can, but fail and you will be punished." Gandigan stepped down from the stage and walked over to Balafon. The rest of the crowd stepped away, but looked on from a safe distance. "Since you are the weaker one here I shall let you have the first attack." Gandigan took a defensive stance and waited for Balafon to strike.
Like a bull he charged in blind and angry, slamming his head into Gandigan's chest. Even untransformed he hardly felt the blow, and followed up by slamming his fist into the Mazoku's throat. Balafon collapsed instantly, nearly losing consciousness from that one meager hit. "Was that all you had? I was hoping for a little more of a fight."
His words seemed to rouse something in him, as Balafon did make it back to his feet momentarily. Gandigan would rob him of his balance, slamming his foot into the Mazoku's knee and causing him to collapse. He might have finished him right there and then, but he knew that mercy could be just as powerful as fear. Instead of killing Balafon he took his hand and helped him to his feet. "You are defeated, but you were brave to challenge me. That is respectable."
He could see the shame on Balafon's face as clear as day. Gandigan assumed the Mazoku probably wanted nothing more than to walk away, but instead he was surprised as he fell down to one knee. "Thank you."
