NEWS FROM AFAR
| Cato's PL: 60,000 (117,000 - Training Weights) |
The challenge on Arcose had already become news on Plant by now, but Cato wasn't sure how far knowledge of her involvement in it had spread. Whatever the case was, she now had two pieces of information to present the King: first, the message from Ticoga offered prior to the challenge, and second--his own stated preference for some form of agreement or alliance. While her instinct was to speak with Vocado first, she knew that this information needed to be presented directly to the King, without the chance to be filtered by anyone else.
She pushed open the wide doors leading in to the throne room. It wasn't the first time she had come here to meet with the monarch, but if he were holding court now, it would be the first time that meeting didn't consist of her and an empty throne. While Vocado seemed to trust Taori, Cato couldn't say either way. She had her hopes, but she had also learned to keep a certain distance from the throne. The palace had hardly earned a reputation for consistency.
She approached the throne, garbed in her usual battle armour and medicated breath mask, with a heavy weighted cloak slung over her shoulders. A single blade rested at her hip, while the spare arm blaster that had been gifted to her was still firmly attached, concealed beneath the shroud of the cloak. She didn't expect she would need to use any of them, but it offered a more formal appearance--and it was better to be safe.
"I need to speak with King Taori," she announced, turning her attention towards the nearest attendant. "It's urgent, and I'm not waiting around in the throne room this time."
She turned to rest back against one of the pillars in the hall, waiting while the attendant scurried off. She hoped he was going to fetch Taori directly, but she had the distinct impression her name might be getting added to some waiting list of petty petitioners.
