|| Nervan’s PL: 14,800 ||
Just one strike landing seemed to be enough to send the assailant reeling, begging for violence to cease. While Nervan still had their guard up just in case with flickering energy sparking off of them randomly they did not attack further. After all, they had considered that this man was yet another victim of unfortunate circumstances.
This man before Nervan and Gandigan, to put it lightly, looked awful. They almost looked as unhealthy as Nervan seemed to look! The man told his story, revealing his name to be Jarred and that he was once a courier of sorts. Was business on Arcose really that cutthroat? Over ice no less? Nervan hissed at the idea of such brutality as soon as they heard it.
Truth be told, there were a countless amount of spacecrafts out there. Whether or not they had anything of value inside was another thing entirely. Apparently there was a superstition regarding the flight path around this planet, and this lined up with what Nervan had been thinking about. “A legend.” Nervan finally spoke up as if to correct the man as well as to confirm something for themselves.
Jarred seemed willing to speak more, and of course Nervan at the very least had a few questions— but that noise returned, that roaring sound that had been happening. Was it getting more frequent? It certainly felt that way. “A sound.” Nervan’s gaze snapped onto the cowering Jarred. “The legend of a sound that the people fear...” Getting ever closer to what they thought was an answer, something was stirring within Nervan’s mind.
It took only a few seconds for the ships to begin to move. The larger of the downed vessels only budged a few inches, while some of the smaller ones were ripped straight off the ground, tearing across the landscape and into the nearby trees. Gandigan hoped to grab a hold of Jarred but as he had feared the man slipped away, probably moving into the large ship near by. That one remained in place, while the cruiser that they had been standing near began flying towards them.
The Namekian moved swiftly, grabbing a hold of Nervan and pulling the odd man out of the traffic. Unsure of what else to do, Gandigan simply laid down and waited for the roaring to subside, which took about ten more seconds. When he looked up the field of scattered planes was in some ways unrecognizable as the formation of ships had completely shifted. Thankfully they had avoided the worst of it, though he wasn't sure how well Jarred was. Even if the ship hadn't much moved, the metallic contents on the inside would have.
When Gandigan stood up it was pretty clear which direction the ships had moved in: east. A forest to the east of them had blocked off the path of smaller ships while the larger ones had managed to barrel through. If they wanted to know which direction they should be heading it was pretty obvious now. "Well, what do you say, Nervan? Should we go straight to the source, or do you want to try and find Jarred so we can question him some more?"

The telltale creaking and rupturing of metal was soon upon them, the larger ships barely moved whereas smaller ones were torn from where they were like tissue paper from a box. Now with properly witnessing this part of the phenomenon, it was quite hazardous. Nervan was more fascinated by what was going on than he was focused on keeping an eye on that Jarred fellow, who seemed to have slipped away.
Turning around to yet another sound, Nervan saw the cruiser they had been in moments ago begin to careen towards them, and began to lean back, though perhaps too slow. Thankfully, Gandigan was able to assist, yanking Nervan out of the way. Nervan hit the dusty dry rocky ground with an out of place wooden bonk sort of sound. Eventually the roaring subsided, and it seemed safe to stand up again.
So, Nervan suddenly shot up to a standing position in the blink of an eye, as if they were instantly rotated like in an image editing program. “... Hm.” The movement of so many metallic things seemed to have changed the landscape quite dramatically. “It didn’t change this much before. We think we are closer to the source. Why else would there be such a dramatic change?” Nervan mused, looking at the grooves in the ground. Everything seemed to have been pulled east.
Gandigan spoke up, asking what Nervan had in mind regarding how to progress. “We would like to think that Jarred is used to the dangers of this place by now. You can sense life, correct? Does Jarred still live? If he is alive and uninjured, we think he can take care of himself for a while longer... If he has perished, we can retrieve his remains later. In all cases, we believe that seeking the source is of more importance.” Nervan’s gaze snapped eastward, into the forest. “The legend of a sound that the people fear... We must know what it means.”
"I agree, though you would think that something capable of this might have a massive power level, and yet I don't feel anything at all. I know of some people that are capable of masking, or even entirely hiding their powers from detection, but they were all... well, intelligent. I assumed that what we were dealing with was some sort of beast or wild animal, but maybe I was wrong. Another mystery to add to the list I suppose. The sooner we get answers the better."
Speaking of sensing, Gandigan attempted to find Jarred's life force. It took a while due to it being weakened, but eventually he was able to locate it. "His energy is lower than it was before, but appears to be stable now. Something in the chaos must have hurt him, but I think he'll probably make it. Best thing we can do for him probably is figuring out how to stop whatever it is dragging ships down like this; then maybe he can get off of here with us."
Gandigan took the lead again, walking into the forest that had managed to stop the path of so many cruisers. He moved hastily, though he tried to allow Nervan to keep up with having to use his portals. Unfortunately the trees hadn't only stopped incoming cruisers; there were plenty of bodies strewn throughout the trees as well, with most of them decayed beyond recognition. "I guess that whatever we're dealing with isn't a meat eater; plenty of wasted bodies laying around."
The forest was like a wave: thinned from the damage caused by the incoming vessels, then thick in the center, and as they moved forward it began to thin again. Gandigan tried to peer through the trees to glimpse what was ahead, but something massive was in his way. "Is that... a tooth?"

Nervan’s ears tilted upwards and downwards independently of each other a few times, as if they were considering what Gandigan had said regarding the current situation. It was true, Nervan supposed, that there were people that could hide their energy to a greater degree than most— though this was usually an observation that Illuma would have made since she was the one who could sense energy among Nervan’s group. “Animals are different in many ways. What is intelligence to us is perhaps instinct to them.” Nervan sounded as though they spoke from experience in handling animals, so maybe that could be helpful if what the two sought was indeed also some sort of animal.
“He is stable? Good. That will do.” Nervan’s concern lessened, and it seemed that Jarred knew how to handle himself around here for the most part. Treating the cause of a problem was often better than treating the symptoms if possible, the symptoms just often lead to the cause if one was to correctly look.
Moving towards the forest, Nervan noted the various bodies littered all over the place— all in varied states of decay, some even near fossilised, perhaps unintentionally brought up from underground in wake of some trace metals. One of Nervan’s earrings suddenly appeared in one of their hands and they held it out as if to check for something. “... Long dead. None linger.” Nervan said in a sombre tone, and all of a sudden that earring was back on their ear.
Looking in the same direction as Gandigan, Nervan tried their best to discern what they were seeing. It was no tree, that much was certain. The Namekian wondered if it was a tooth, and given its shape even at such a size, it did seem like one. “It looks like one. Hang on, we will get a observe from further away for a wider perspective.” Nervan backed away a bit to check if there were more— or if it was still attached to the gums of what would be its owner.
The walk through the forest was mostly quiet, aside from Nervan using his earing for something that Gandigan didn't quite understand. Almost as quickly as it appeared in his hand did it return to his ear; the Namekian considered asking what it was for, but right now he was more focused on the planet and finding a way to get his ship off of it. Every second he spent on this planet made him feel uneasy, as though some force was telling him that he didn't belong here.
When Gandigan spotted what he believed to be a tooth, Nervan offered to investigate further. Gandigan allowed him to move back while he decided to instead move forward. He was the more powerful of the two, so it was only right that he be the one to take more of the risks. He tried to move slowly to avoid any sort of detection; he would have tried to lower his power level too, but he was afraid that he may need all the strength he could get.
It didn't take long for another tooth to come into view; about as large as the first, though more decayed. There was orange tinging all across the tooth, and as Gandigan moved forward several more in a similar condition came into view. "I don't... damnit what the Hell is this thing?" Taking into the air, the Mazoku attempted to gain a birds eye view of the situation, only to be meet with an ungody horror.
From in the air Gandigan could see the gaping maw was actually imbedded into the planet itself. The entirety of it wasn't even in his view as it was so large he couldn't even see it all at once. "What... what is this?!"

From their different perspective, Nervan confirmed their suspicions; what they had seen was indeed a tooth, but it was not just a single tooth. There were more, a long row of gargantuan teeth as far as the eyes could see in either direction, in varied states of decay. Originally the trees, as sparse as they were, happened to be just enough visual noise to be a distraction given somewhat similar colourations due to tooth decay.
Now, however, Nervan knew what they were looking for. “We are remembering... It is coming to us. The answer is here.” Moving sideways, following the teeth, Nervan had thoughts emerge, the memories not entirely their own housed within them began to surface. At first they were dull, yet they became sharper as long as Nervan was looking at this... Thing. Nervan understood it was more than just teeth, yet this understanding was someone else’s understanding, and the louder the memory and knowledge became, the faster Nervan moved. They were closer to the answer that they needed, the chance to complete the story left behind by the memories.
“The people. The legend. The sound.” Nervan repeated, slowing down as they did so, arriving at a different vantage point altogether, seeing what Gandigan saw at a different angle, one that the people that were once here would have had. “The cave.” Nervan slowly craned their head, looking for something, guided by one of the clearest memories, one that wanted Nervan to find something— eyes, the memory depicted eyes could be seen from this spot. “The monster.” Nervan stared towards where they thought eyes would be in the distance, and stood there in silence for a moment. “The planet..?” The pieces would soon begin to click into place. Any moment now, Nervan hoped that they would find the answer.
Gandigan hoped that Nervan had more luck deciphering whatever it was they were looking at. He said he had memories of this place, right? Maybe this view would jog some of them. The Namekian was left clueless, but with a strong desire to push on. He continue to fly forward, eventually reaching a center point where spinning around he could see the entire sphere of teeth. Down below him lay the gullet; a horrid sight as what appeared to be flesh was mixed with earth and steel.
Looking straight down, at the very lowest depths, he could see the center of the planet. From up here it was only a dim light, but the fire and flames were unmistakable. Along the walls of the esophagus lay hundreds, if not thousands of small incisions where pieces of metal had made their mark. There were plenty still visible, with a few dozen ships lodged into the walls all the way down. "Nervan? Do you kn " Gandigan's voice was drowned out by the sound of another roar.
The Earth itself began to move as the teeth rattled in place. The walls of the gullet vibrated, producing a horrible sound while at the same time dislodging many of the ships that were stuck in place. Down they fell into depths, before being consumed by the flames below. Gandigan rushed for cover, wanting all of this to be over.

Everything was here. Every piece of the puzzle. Nervan’s eternal stare locked on the eyes that could be seen in the distance, somewhat camouflaged under some rocky outcroppings. It was unmistakable even from this angle, this was an unfathomably gigantic creature.
Gandigan eventually called out, which broke Nervan’s gaze into the eyes of the beast as their head snapped immediately towards where the Namekian was in the air. Unfortunately, before Gandigan could even say much of anything, the ground rumbled and reverberated under the force of the roaring sound. Nervan was sent backwards, flat onto a nearby wall as other pieces of discarded ships and metal flew into the gargantuan maw while whatever was already in there tumbled into the depths below, consumed by the flames, to be digested by the creature.
Everything fell into place now. According to the memories that Nervan was following the people that once lived here had a legend, that the ground below them was alive, and that there were sounds heralding a time where the people would offer things— metals— to a cave where they said a monster lived, and if the monster was well fed and cared for, they would be safe... However something had gone wrong here.
After the roaring subsided, Nervan looked for where Gandigan had gone. “Gandigan? We know what this is now. We remember. The people, their legend, the sounds, the cave, the monster. It is the planet. It is a creature far bigger than any other. It is a form of Kaiju.” The exact name of this particular Kaiju was just beyond Nervan’s reach, but at least they had more context and details now. “The people that were once here, and this creature had a mutually beneficial relationship. It seems as though something terrible happened to the people, and now that they are gone, it must fend for itself and feed on what passes by.” Who knows just how long this had been happening for? A sad end for all involved, in Nervan’s opinion.
Thankfully without any metal on him it was fairly easily for Gandigan to get away, though the create was still able to generate a strong pull based on it's suction alone. Eventually Nervan would answer his call, though the answer wasn't as satisfactory as he would have liked. He explained that it was some form of Kaiju, which had been creature that the Namekian had encountered on Earth, though what he encountered there was nothing like what was before him; clearly some sort of mutation or evolution was in effect.
Apparently it used to live along side the people of this planet, but clearly something terrible had happened. He could hardly feel any life on the planet at all, leaving him to wonder if there was anybody left. What Nervan had left out was a way to stop the creature so that they could escape this place, leaving it in the hands of Gandigan.
Soaring back into the air, Gandigan raised both hands over his head and began to charge an attack. "Nervan. Either you tell me a way to put this thing to sleep or I'm going to end it once and for all. I can't allow this to go on."

It was a truly grim situation as far as Nervan could tell. From what they remembered on behalf of others alongside what they were seeing in front of themselves ever since they had arrived, there was only one logical conclusion.
This had to end. That was all that could be said.
Noticing that Gandigan was charging an attack, no doubt meant for the planetary sized beast, Nervan had a moment to contemplate what the Namekian said. Killing it directly would stop the madness, it would indeed be an end. The problem in doing it that way was that whoever or whatever was still here would likely go down with it, maybe even Nervan and Gandigan as well.
Part of what Gandigan had said did give Nervan an idea though. “Sleep... Yes, put it to sleep.” Now knowing that the planet was simply a singular large being, Nervan understood that it had a soul, an essence of sorts... To that end, Nervan once again was suddenly holding out one of their earrings. “We have an idea. There is a way we can put it into a state similar to that of sleep. Doing so will eventually cause it to die, but it shall allow anyone still here to leave freely, or rebuild something, should they choose.” The earring that Nervan was holding out began to glow, at first it was a deep purple, then a searing white and suddenly a cavernous and eternal void... Nervan was attempting to absorb the soul of the Kaiju.
“You have lived through loneliness and pain for long enough. Now it is time for you to rest.” Several specfic voices could be heard slightly more clearly within the chaos of Nervan’s vocalizations, some may have even been familiar to the Kaiju, perhaps these voices once belonged to friends? It was hard to say. Ultimately, they beckoned to the Kaiju, letting it know that it was finally time to find peace. “We thank you, for this closure.”
Gandigan was fully prepared to send this beast to Hell, until Nervan spoke up. For some reason the Namekian had a feeling that the strange fellow would have some sort of alternative idea, and indeed that's exactly what he had, though he wasn't forthcoming in his explanation which was something that Gandigan had come to expect from him by now. Nervan retrieved a small, purple earing which he held up into the air, leaving the Mazoku confused and somewhat annoyed.
He was about to speak up and ask what the Hell was going on when the earing began to glow. First it was purple and dim, and next his entire sightline was consumed with a sheering white light and forced Gandigan to turn away. When the light finally died down and Gandigan was able to return his view back on Nervan and the planetary creature something felt different, though it was hard to explain. The creature appeared to be... at ease.
Gandigan flew over to Nervan and considered asking what had happened, but knowing that his explanation would likely lead to more questions than answers he decided to keep things simple. "Now that that's taken care of I guess it's time for us to go? I'd like to go very far away from this planet, and I hope to never see it again."

In time, the very soul of the Kaiju diminished and subsided, siphoned from its colossal body and into the earring that Nervan held out. Eventually the glistening void that radiated from the earring subsided into a small blip of white light, a deep purple glow, and finally nothing. “It is done. Now, it sleeps forever.” Nervan’s earring was once again suddenly back on the ear it came from. The odd individual looked around at their surroundings as the grinding of the teeth eventually stopped. Sand began to fall into the depths of the Kaiju’s maw, which eventually closed in an uneven way.
For a moment, Nervan stood in silence, with their hands held together, seemingly in prayer. Gandigan eventually made his way on over and spoke up, which caught Nervan’s attention. Most other times when Nervan had absorbed a soul in front of someone, they were bombarded with questions— but in this case Gandigan was either entirely unbothered by it, or simply didn’t want to ask and was just happy to not be stuck here. Whatever the case, Nervan figured it was for the best. “Yes. All that are here should now be able to leave. A simple craft would work well enough, and there are plenty of parts here as is.”
It was pretty likely however that Gandigan’s initial craft was not where the Namekian had last seen it... “Feel free to use ours. It should be good for one trip before dissipating.” From within one of Nervan’s earrings, their magical spacecraft would appear— it was quite similar to a standard space-pod, it just looked wooden rather than metallic. “Our friends will seek us out, so do not worry about us. Besides, we want to be here for a while longer. To pay our respects.”
Gandigan had been dreading the search for his ship after that creature had activated it's suction again, but thankfully Nervan had an answer for that. A pod would magically appear in front of the two; it looked similar to the single seaters he had seen been used before, though he couldn't tell what it was made out of. "Thanks. My old ship had taken quite the beating during the landing. Even if it could lift off I'm not sure it would survive the flight to... well, anywhere that's away from here."
Gandigan would be happy to see the back of this place. As for Nervan? He had other ideas, choosing to stay a little while longer. He wasn't quite sure what his feelings on the stranger were. Was Nervan a friend now? He supposed so, but in truth he didn't mind seeing the back of him either. The alien brought with him so many odd questions that left Gandigan rattling his brain around, and right now he just wanted a rest. No doubt he'd think on this encounter later though.
"Well... I guess I shall be leaving then. If you ever find yourself on Namek then perhaps we'll encounter each other again. Just ask around and you'll eventually find me."

Nervan gave Gandigan a nod, it was as they had expected. Even Gandigan figured that his ship wasn’t going to be in flight-worthy condition any time soon. Either way, it would work out for the both of them. “From what we remember, the nearest space-station is two standard hours away from here, and the nearest safe planet is approximately six standard hours away from here. You’ll be able to travel a considerable distance away.”
Taking in the new melancholic peace of this place, Nervan wondered what would come next. It was possible that they could meet Gandigan again, though hopefully under better circumstances than this. “Of course, Namek. We are quite fond of that world. There is a lot to it, we think, a lot to know, to understand. We hope you reach Namek safely and that all is well there. Goodbye for now, Gandigan.” Nervan waved as the Namekian departed.
For a while, Nervan wandered the surface of this world, thinking on the now quiet memories of those that once called it home, and of their time here. Eventually, Nervan’s friends had arrived in their larger craft in order to pick them up and head on out to other adventures.
More memories, more mysteries, more stories, more endings...
