SOULS GO TURBO

The beating sun scorched the the earth, but it didn't bother Ramen in the slightest. The landscape was harsh, inhospitable even--but it was a land ripe for battle. The towering rock formations made for convenient obstacles, and the near total lack of life meant a warrior of her caliber could let loose. She could fight to her full potential, without ever having to fear that an innocent bystander might get in the way. It was at once one of the most desolate places on Earth, and yet in its own way, had become a sacred site for true martial artists.
That was why she had come here today.
She had tested a young warrior on Namek some months ago, and found his heart ready for war, even if he yet lacked the power and experience to make good on it. She now had the same test for a fighter here on Earth. Bing Gan, a member of a different school to her own. Perhaps in the decades since she had left Earth, the schools had come in contact with each-other. If that was the case, the young fighter would have ample reason to suspect that Ramen's bluff was just that--a bluff. If not, she might be able to awaken the same anger she did in the young Namekian.
That bluff was simple, if a little crude. Ramen had floated a rumour in town that a dangerous bandit lord had taken to the Gizard Wasteland with a haul of stolen riches, and that the same bandit had plans to launch a deadly attack on the distant Taola Village. Thanks to her relatively unremarkable appearance and her habitual use of energy suppression, she had managed to ensure that the rumour was spread near one of Bing Gan's haunts.
"I heard they were responsible for two attacks on the highway in the last month," she had told one person.
"They're known to use some sort of black magic," she had told another.
That had somehow evolved into other rumours.
"Did you hear? They set a pack of demons loose on the highway!"
"It's horrible! I heard they used black magic to destroy an entire village!"
"I saw it happen! Barely made it out alive!"
That suited Ramen well enough. She was reasonably sure that would get his attention: someone would know that this Bing was powerful, and they would run to him for help as they always did. If he chose to answer the call, she was also fairly sure he would do it alone. After all, it's what she would have done. Most young martial artists were sure of themselves like that. Earth had a way of making the unremarkable feel remarkable, and the weak feel powerful. It was the way of things.
If the rumour she had set wasn't enough to motivate him to seek her out... well, in that case, he wasn't worth her time in the first place. But, she hoped he had more sense in him than the reputation that ran before his school might have suggested.
