USELESS PUPILS

It was times like these that Ramen missed Earth.
Sure, the handful of warriors she had encountered on Namek boasted more potential than the average Earthling. But, there was a sort of simplicity to life back at the monastery near South City. Most of Earth's martial artists could barely handle basic fighting forms, let alone learn to control their ki--but at least they were dedicated and useless.
The warriors she had encountered on Namek seemed intent on going on galaxy-spanning adventures to save distant stars or win ridiculous tournaments. Everyone wanted to be a hero. It was a far cry from the Earthlings who just wanted to shave their heads bald and impress girls at the local bar. Maybe they were better at most things, but they were also reckless and thoughtless.
Still. Maybe Ramen could have done with being a little more like Erebos in her youth. She had made a habit of choosing her fights well, but who's to say how much more good she would have done if she'd had his unhealthy taste for impulsive adventures?
Whatever the case was, it was clear that her power was no longer sufficient to defend her own home, let alone anyone else's homes. For that reason, she was compelled to do something she couldn't remember doing much of for the last thirty years.
It was time for her to train.
She had chosen the Fluud Waterfall to start. Not only was it usually fairly peaceful, and mercifully free of the sorts of unwanted encounters one might find in the North, but the running waters themselves were useful for practicing ki control. To that end, she had positioned herself beneath the falls, lifting her hand upwards and emitting a ki barrier to force the water to spill off to either side.
As each minute passed, she pushed the barrier higher and higher, diverting the water further and causing its flow to spray across the waters below. But, the further the barrier pushed from her body, the more difficult it was to hold. That, she knew, was a sign that she had let herself slip. She had all the technique and finesse in the world, but that might not count for much without power.
"... maybe a visit to Earth, soon..." she mumbled to herself.
