The cold air of Mogina had drug through the great jungle valleys of the planet. Chieftain Ginko stood large over the expanse of green in all directions as he stood firm atop Chieftain Mountain. His many eyes glaring down at the people going about their business across the many rope catwalks and large wooden bridges they'd built between the large tree houses his people lived in. He alone stood atop the gigantic rock pillar that stood high above the rest of the planet, the ancestral home of all chieftains before him. Here he stood, basking in the sun as he debated the future of his people.
This day felt off, though. As he looked up into the seemingly endless sky of Mogina, his instinct told him something was not right. With one of his fists on his hip, the Moginaian would look quizzically at the cloud formations in the sky for answers. As he received no premonitions, or any form of warning, all he could do was stay relaxed and await something to happen for the day.
Returning back to his bed out in the open on his mountain top, Ginko would lay back leisurely staring up at the canvases of smooth silks and fabrics stretched over his bed like a tent, the hundreds of gorgeous colors they did not have on his planet. All trade from aliens who visited in exchange for the latest hunt. Life was bliss for the Moginaians as of the moment... Something Ginko wouldn't let go away. Not without a fight at least.
"Ho hu ha hu ha... Life good" He would say aloud to himself, practicing his galactic basic as he stretched out among the many blankets, skins, and other comforts he got to enjoy as Chief. "Life so good"

From the depths of space, a massive starship appears as though from nothing! Like flies fleeing from a hornet, small trade ships and civilian trophy hunters flying star yachts immediately scatter as the Imperial Cruiser, the Relentless, begins a fast approach towards the planet, making sure that the system's star was directly behind the ship.
"Lord Ticoga, we have arrived at the planet Mogina." came the comms officer's voice, through the speaker on the left arm of the hovering command chair. "Initial scans show some civilian craft, but their emission profiles show that they are not aligned with the Empire."
"Are the ships armed?" Ticoga asks.
"Some are, yes, sir." came another voice - the tactical ensign. "Small to medium grade weaponry. None are of a class or make that can pierce our shields without seventy two hours minimum of non-stop firing."
"Good. Send out the claimant warning. The Empire is taking possession of this star system." Ticoga commands evenly. "Helmsman, continue our course. Land on the flattest surface the geographical scans reveal. Troops are to debark as soon as the landing is complete."
Ticoga receives confirmation of his orders, and he watches as the planet grows in the forward observation port. Within minutes, the ship, casting a massive shadow across the ground, flies through the atmosphere of Mogina, rocketing towards a vast plateau. Ticoga rises from the hovering command chair and floats over to the holographic tactical display.
According to the data, Mogina was almost entirely tropical, and the current rising sentient species - the Mogina - were still developing in their Stone Age equivalent. But due to the unusually good game, the planet had seen some extremely early interaction with vastly more advanced civilizations. Because of how valuable the planet had been declared, the Empire had determined it profitable to take the planet for development. But the first order of business was clear...
Eliminate the Moginians.
The Relentless finally slows, now dropping vertically as its landing struts unfold and extend down, allowing the Relentless to settle down without issue. Both the belly and top hatches slide open, allowing hundreds of Imperial soldiers to pour out of the Relentless! They are of dozens of alien races, most sporting the arm mounted energy cannons.
Ticoga remains on the ship for now, and gives the invasion command. The soldiers begin to spread out, intent of sewing the destruction of Moginians...
Soldiers are non-mechanical NPC's, feel free to slap 'em around!

It was the sudden darkness crawling across the sky that attracted the attention of the Moginaian people from their daily work. Ginko himself rose from the comfort of his bedding and into the air just above his gigantic stone pillar. This vision of a great space craft, the 'sky boats' he imagined so greatly of that his people regularly saw enter and leave the planet for trade, set off the instinct and intuition of the great Chief. His eyes focusing on the largest of the ships entering the atmosphere which found itself landing on a nearby plateau only a small flight from where his main village below Chieftain Mountain.
Gathering his ornate welcoming skin to cover his waist and a large rabbit-like alien skin over his head, the small alien would take to the sky with a great leap from his home and begin his fast descent down and through the air all the way to the plateau, staying a couple dozen feet from the ground as he watched the leagues of soldiers exit the space craft. The alien couldn't help but stare awestruck at the large diversity of many different species working in the army that approached his people, almost distracting him from going into his own defensive mode, intent on stopping whatever it was they intended on doing with that many people. These weren't traders at all. Between their ability to use Ki, their weaponry, and the unified armor they all wore, this was an army. An invasion was happening right under the nose of the planetary Chief and he suddenly had to figure out exactly what he was going to do.
Taking back to flight, Ginko would intercept a small group of the soldiers, throwing a punch into the gut of one humanoid soldier, before grabbing him by the hair and flailing him into two others of his comrades. Then, headbutting another in the skull with enough force to knock him back in a daze, but not do anything substantial enough to actually stop whatever kind of invasion this was. There were too many to handle alone, and while his people worked great fighting in groups, they did not have the capabilities to do combat with such a strong fighting force. As far as he knew, only he knew Ki use on this planet. His people would be doomed.
'No... I must protect my people' he would think to himself as he tried to determine the best way to go about this. He needed to find their leader, the boss of the entire operation. Maybe he could talk them out of it, or fight them off? He could easily take the soldiers one on one, but there was no way he could take them all. 'I need to stop this'.
A shot from a blaster to his back, burning his head covering skin would set the Mogina off, his rage thrashing against another of the assaliants, before deciding to take his disagreement directly to the ship itself. If they were this intent on taking whatever they had, he would take away their one chance of leaving. The stout, angry, and determined four-armed creature would arrive just outside of the ship itself as his Ki charged inside of his body. Two of his eyes focusing deeply on the exits of the ship, watching for a potential leader or commander to take one, while the other eyes stared straight at the outer shell of the spaceship. He would have stern words with the boss of this whole fight.
"YOU LOSE HERE" He would say in the standard galactic language, though his thick accent and difficulty speaking properly was obvious. His yelling was booming through the plateau as he approached the ship proper, imbuing his Ki into his mouth and firing a bright, flashy beam of fire at the ship, most likely worthless against the shields of the ship. "Who is Chief, I fight Chief for win. Kill for end to this" He would yell finally, the anger in his face obvious.

Indeed, as the energy blast from Ginko's mouth sears towards the Relentless, a barely visible wavering in the air around the ship intercepts the blast, splitting the beam into a dozen smaller beams that arc across the shields and detonate harmlessly away from the ship. The thousand soldiers gape at the audacity of Ginko, but move away from the tribal chief as they make their loud demand.
Less than a minute later, Ginko's challenge is answered. Seated in the hovering command chair, Ticoga rises from the top hatch of the Relentless. The chair hovers towards Ginko until Ticoga is only roughly ten yards away from Ginko. The Arcosian gazes at Ginko, his scouter outlining and measuring the Moginian's battle power.
"Battle power... twenty four thousand... perhaps... there seems to be interference with my scouter... Forty Eight thousand, perhaps? Impressive. Very impressive, for a Stone Age era sentient." Ticoga says, more to himself than to Ginko. "You said your name is Chieftain Ginko? Good greetings and good day. I am Ticoga, commander of the army you find yourself surrounded by."
Ticoga regards Ginko curiously.
"You have a rudimentary understanding of the Galactic Trade Language. So I will tell you now, that you cannot defeat me as you are." Ticoga warns the tribal leader. "...But I understand the desire to protect one's world and people. I will honor your request."
Ticoga rises from the chair, letting it automatically hover back behind the protection of the Relentless' shields. Ticoga straightens his posture, clasping his hands behind his back.
"Come, then. Show me what you can do." Ticoga says, not at all showing signs of looking down on the Chieftain. Regardless of what happened, the invasion would continue. His soldiers would wait for the conclusion, of course - but once Ginko was defeated, they would complete the planetary purge of the Moginians...

Witnessing his own blast be deflected by the shields of the ship, and seeing the lizard-like alien creature rise out and accept his challenge, Ginko stood firm in his spot as he listened to the Arcosian speak. His huffs and puffs mismatched the words in his head as he attempted to fully process what the alien warboss was telling him. This Ticoga, he seemed strong. The confidence, the sheer force of will, all of it gave off the vibes of an individual who knew their own strength well. The speaking of numbers did confuse the Chief, but his mind could only think it was a counting of the soldiers that seemed to surround and watch them.
"Yes, I Chief Ginko. Chief of Mogina, I own all lands" He would confirm to the other creature, waving one of his arms to the side to allude to everything around them. "I own stone of all ages. I no let you take from me" He would say angrily, a gritting of his teeth resulting in him taking up the Arcosian on his offer to go ahead and show him what he could do.
Starting off the fight, Ginko would scream as he powered through his maximum strength, feeling his weight behind his punches grow, and then fly towards the enemy alien and stop a few feet away from the creature, reeling back his head and spewing a thick, viscous liquid fire concoction at the Arcosian, it's bright burning flame sticking to whatever surface it hits like napalm and burning hot and bright. This stream of fire breathing ended quickly, and as thew Arcosian would hopefully be distracted by the fire, the form of the smaller alien would fly through the rising flames of the napalm-like substance and go in for a single empowered punch towards the being's face, hoping to show exactly how much he meant business. If he could afford to avoid using his Battle Mode, he'd be golden, but so far it seemed like he might have to.
"No underestimate Ginko. Moginaian people strong. We fierce. Kill many larger than you. I kill larger than you. Ginko chief for reason."

Ticoga's eyes slightly narrow as Ginko flies fast towards him, and his eyes glow with a soft red. Below them, a large boulder also glows with a soft crimson, and breaks free of the ground! The boulder rockets straight up moving between Ticoga and Ginko just as the latter sends a spew of flaming fluids at Ticoga! The boulder blocks the liquid and flames, though it shatters when Ginko's fist connects to it.
Ticoga moves in a blur towards Ginko, lashing suddenly and surgically with a fist aimed straight at Ginko's midsection! Ticoga then blurs again, moving away from Ginko and slightly farther away than he had been initially.
"Interesting ability... I have not seen a being produce a flammable liquid before." Ticoga says calmly. But now he knew this, and knew to look out for it. Of course, he could have ended this fight right here, but Ticoga had grown curious about Ginko.
If their claim was true, then this being ruled the planet in its entirety. He could believe that. A Stone Age era species, and this one with a power somewhere between twenty four thousand and forty eight thousand? Yes, he could see quite well how that would be possible. Perhaps this Ginko was also seen as something of a God to his primitive peoples.

Chief Ginko was way out of his league. He saw this immediately when his fire breath was immediately dousing a large boulder, and then he was surprised by a harsh gut punch by Ticoga. The recoil from the hit intense, throwing the alien back a number of meters in a flailing ragdoll of damage. The thin stream of blue blood dripping from Ginko's corner of his mouth hitting the ground, filling the immediate area with the smell of sulfur and rotten eggs. Ginko just spit the blood to the side, crawling back to his feet and flexing hard and strong. The shape of his body and figure would start to change as his Ki coursed around him, obvious signs of a transformation happening right in front of everyone's eyes! The shift of power, size, and physical might shown bare.
His Ki would surround his body, the form of his figure transforming and transmogrifying to become far more draconic in nature. His extended muzzle of the alien Chieftain filled with razor sharp teeth, and his yellow skin became more and more seafoam in color. The rise of his power level being physically evident as his strength excelled more and more, ready to take his opponent, even if he'd die in the process. With his newfound natural armor covering his chest and his wrists, the large Moginaian would roar a powerful roar as a beam of pure Ki energy would fire out into the sky from the beast, just like the one he had fired at the ship earlier. His rage intensifying, but not enough to remove his mental capacities for the fight.
"I no lose. I Chief for reason. I am battle mode, Chief Ginko's best form!" He would say confidently, barely showing signs of his intense hit from earlier. His mouth oozing no longer any blood, but that same thick liquid fire that dripped to the ground, melting through the grass and dirt. "Taste wrath of strongest Mogina!"
With this final enforcement of his will, Chief Ginko would rush forward with newfound speed and strength, intending to land one full powered punch at the skull of his opponent, determined to deal as much damage as he could, the fist of Ginko covered in a heavy coating of Ki energy, the yellow glow of his power radiating with the strike. After this punch, he'd go for a chest strike if the head punch was successful, before retreating again.
"I... I strong... I strongest Mogina... I am pride of Mogina... You no stop me..."

Ticoga watches with some fascination as the Moginaian begins to transform into a creature that was greatly different.
"So, this species can transform to better suit a combat situation. Interesting. The Moginaians must me stronger than the Empire's data suggests." Ticoga says, watching the transformation from high in the air. Ticoga's scouter seems to be going haywire, drawing his attention and annoyance. "...Fluctuating again... that's going to be a distraction."
Ticoga switches the scouter off from its search mode, leaving only the communications on, and refocuses onto Ginko as the now fully transformed beast stands proudly. It sends a powerful blast straight into the air, much to the cheers of its own people. Many of Ticoga's soldiers look nervous, but know that even now, Ticoga held a significant advantage. He too could transform, after all.
He hadn't heard the first part of what Ginko said, due to the distance between them, but the bellowing roar did reach his ears, and Ticoga prepared himself for the Moginaian now hurtling towards him! As Ginko went in for the first punch of his tirade, he saw the quick flash of energy come towards him as the blast from Ticoga attempted to subdue him. He fought against the strength of the blast with all of his might, his fist splaying the beam into smaller beams reflecting off to the side, but the total strength difference proved way too much for the transformed alien to handle. He felt the energy wash past, and over him with a burning sensation as his body was thrown back once more, clearly out matched by his opponent. He did not watch to give up, he had no intentions on actually giving up at all, but he knew this was a fruitless battle. He was better off surviving, living another day, and maybe eventually he could rematch this greater warrior. Ginko felt shame in himself, his moral and cultural upbringing forcing him to concede.
As he struggled to get up from the most recent hit against his body, the thin hissing sound from the alien would signal his disdain for what he was doing. He fell to one knee, removing from around his chest a thin wire of extremely shiny, and stretchy metal. The symbol of the Chiefs of his people. As he did so, he would hold it out in front of him towards Ticoga, his head not bent in shame, but looking the other creature in the eyes with determination, and amazement of the sheer power difference between the two. His Ki sweltered to the slow, and his form would stay transformed out of respect for his opponent. It was clear, at least to the Moginaians would would be able to see, that Ginko was submitting his role to the new strongest warrior on the planet.
"I hate do this... But I no match for you." He would state boldly, his face giving the appearance of someone struggling with their words. "I follow rules of people. Chief is strongest on Mogina. That is you. You are strongest. I must give role of owner to you. I must submit Chieftain to you." He would say through the pain and blood, spitting to the ground to clear his speech. "This metal rope, made of Moginite. Strongest metal on Mogina, stretchy and impossible for Moginaian to break with tools. It is sign of our leaders, of the owner of planet. I ask you let me live, let me grow strong. I want to fight you again, when I strong as you" He would finish his request to the Arcosian, awaiting and accepting whatever answer he got in return. "I no longer last in fight, without great harm to me. But if I request accepted, I grow strong and fight again, and maybe win back Chieftain rope."
As he would finish saying this, the Moginaians watching would get audibly quiet, watching the encounter with great curiosity and fear as they wondered what would become of their great Chief who saved them so many times before and made their planet as wealthy as it was. They seemingly cared more about Ginko, than about themselves.

Ticoga's blast overtook the Moginaian, sending the dragon-like being crashing to the ground below, much to the dismay of their fellows. Soldiers of the Empire barked out in celebration as Ginko stirred, cheering for their commander. When no further attack came, and Ginko moved to kneel, rather than stand, Ticoga drops through the air and lands softly in front of Ginko.
Ticoga's brow rises as Ginko submits, and proclaims Ticoga as the new ruler of Mogina. When Ginko offers the metal rope, Ticoga gazes at Ginko for a moment, but finally takes the offered trinket. Ticoga gazes at the rope - it would need a proper place to be displayed. He looks back at the kneeling Ginko as the latter speaks.
"You bargain for your life, but not for the planet or your people." Ticoga says, understanding. "By giving me this, you already confirm that both are at my mercy. So you bargain for your own life. An interesting proposition."
Ticoga considers the request for mercy on Ginko, but only briefly.
"You will live. But your life is now mine. You will be coming with me back to my world, where you will begin your training." Ticoga dictates. "You will serve under me directly, so that I may oversee your progress. And one day, you may indeed challenge me to retake this. But Mogina now belongs to the Empire, even should you reclaim this."
Ticoga gazes out at the Moginaians.

"The Mogina are pack hunter" Ginko would respond to the query about his strength in relation to the rest of his species. He held a deep love in his heart for some of his people, but it was not something he held in a kindred spirit way. He loved the fact they existed, that he could rule over them. They were pawns at the end, people who hunted for or with him and provided for the people as a whole. If they could not work, they did not belong. "Mogina strongest when together. I get strong alone, angry, hurt. Learned to fight big monster alone, and thrived. Most Mogina never learn to struggle. They relax when not hunting, not surviving. Mogina need struggle to get where I am." He would explain in the best way he could, putting one of his fists in another while the other two arms folded together across his chest. "They become strong through work. Hard work. Dangerous work. Cull the weak, save the strong. Mogina need indi... indiv... Individualism. No longer pack hunter. Strong alone AND together." He would hype up, implying his people needed to break their weak alone, stronger together mentality. "Sorry, I need work on speech... Learn much from Commander."
"I may be outlier, but I believe Mogina can become strong. I just first to try, and I make sure I stay strongest of all." He would finish his explanation, looking over the few Mogina capable of seeing and listening, crowding together as they usually did when they become fearful of their lives and prepared to try and fight back. "See? They hide in group, afraid to risk life. I risk life alone, fight for my people and planet. I may lose, but I lose with dign- dignity. I lose with honor" He would continue one final, individual retort regarding it. His free lower arm motioning to the Mogina crowd and showing on his face clear signs of disdain. "I bar... bargain for life, because Mogina have no earned bargain. Like cattle, good for work now. Maybe good for army. Good for you, now."
Inside, Ginko had always wanted his people to feel what he felt. Go through the same trials, the same level of tribulations. While they swarmed their prey, he did so alone. As he did, he grew. They could not grow if they exclusively relied on each other to live. They needed to struggle, or they'd die. If not to Ticoga, then to someone else who would come.
"You, Commander Ticoga, are honor. You do not kill surrender Ginko. You listen, you ask question. Honor is earned, something Mogina need to learn. They no have honor. They are mindless alone. Need to be shown force. Need guidance, by force. Force I no able to do alone."

Ticoga considers Ginko's story silently, his eyes moving from the kneeling Draconic being to the horde of others. Perhaps, in truth, Ginko was a mutation. Not just that he was the only one to try, but a species mutation. Such mutations are quite rare, and historically even among Arcosians such mutations seldom ever happened. It could be that Ginko was the only one of his species with the potential to become so strong.
"Sir, your orders?" came the voice of a Durian soldier.
"...The Moginaians were slated for extermination, as they have nothing to offer the Empire in terms of technology." Ticoga presses the switch on his scouter, and grimaces at the numbers being displayed. "Spare five thousand young, five thousand adult males, and five thousand adult females. Of those, identify thoe thousand with the highest battle powers, and taken them off world to one of our Soldier Training Planets. Tropical preferably, as Arcose's temperatures may kill them."
Ticoga observes Ginko.
"Only take the one thousand among them with such battle power. The rest of the spared will begin an upliftment program; education and cooperative teachings so that we may best use this world's resources." he continues, waiting to see if Ginko would try to object. "The rest of the species is to be exterminated. You have your orders."
"Yes, sir." the Durian replies, and the thousand Imperial soldiers spread out to do their grisly work.
"Ginko, you among your people are the only one I deem worthy." Ticoga says evenly. "You will be coming with me to Arcose, where you will take lessons to improve your speech, and learn about the Empire of which you now serve. And one day, I will accept your challenge to try and retake this tassel."
Ticoga regards Ginko approvingly.
"You may stand. Come, you will return with me aboard my ship." Ticoga says. He could have turned away, but instead holds out a hand to Ginko, offering to help the Moginaian stand.

While Ginko heard the alien speak to his cohorts regarding the fate of his species, Ginko shed no tears of sorrow for his people. He held strong in his beliefs, how his redeeming quality he felt was the strongest to him was force of will and might. If they could not survive the tests, if they could not handle what Ticoga was dishing out for them, Ginko did not care what happened to them. Mogina lived on through him, at the very least. If he could not survive to continue the memory, it was not worthy of survival.
"Yes, Commander" Ginko would respond to the command by the man who he saw as his new Chief. The large being would take the hand of his superior, standing to full height and visage before a sizzle and hiss of steam would indicate the powering down of his transformation back into his smaller, yellower form. "I have much learn from empire" he would make his assertion clear, showing eager interest to learn more about this entire transaction of strength. Ginko had no knowledge that his entire knowledge of the entire universe was going to go severely up in scale and importance, and while he was worried about what might come from this, he had an even deeper desire to become more. To become as strong... no... stronger than this Commander Ticoga. This glimpse of an even stronger foe reminded him of his desire to kill the previous Chief of this planet. His desire to become stronger, to get that ability to choose who lives and dies. He was no longer the height, the pinnacle of strength. He would have to work for it, but he desired that top spot. No titles, no level of political intrigue crossed his mind. All he wanted was that strength.
"I learn very much from Commander" Ginko would finish, following behind him to his ship, ready to go with him wherever it was he would take him. Not so much as giving a single glimpse back at his people, who he knew would most likely die in the tens of thousands. Maybe if the survivors were as good as he was, or even close, he might find them again in the empire and have his own people serving him as warriors once more. If they could handle the work. "Very much."

Ticoga nods approvingly at Ginko as the latter accepts the hand, and reverts to their normal form. Such a drastic change was impressive, even intimidating - that Ginko would join the empire so willingly meant that the Empire itself would grow stronger. And the stronger Ginko became, so too increased the strength of the Empire.
"You will learn everything there is to learn, should you so desire. The sharper your mind, and the stronger your body, the greater you honor your people's legacy. Your legacy." Ticoga says, clasping his hands behind his back. He turns away as the sounds of destruction echo in the distance. "This matter will take a few hours. Come, let's see about finding you a uniform. If nothing fits, then we can have something custom ordered for you."
Ticoga leads the way towards the Relentless. As he walks, he considers an earlier idea that had been kicking around in his head - the formation of a new, elite task force. One that holds to the value of the Empire above their own needs. Ginko's drive to grow would be tempered over time as they learn about the universe, and the Empire's role in it.
"Every now and then, I would like you to test yourself against my android, Sentry." Ticoga says to Ginko as they near the ship. "Its purpose is to train the Empire's soldiers. They will make for good practice - you will surpass the android quickly, I believe."
Especially if Ginko was indeed a mutation.
Ticoga gestures to the boarding ramp, and starts up quickly. Soon, the two would be returning to Arcose, and Ginko's potential would be explored as part of the ever growing Empire...
Exit! This was a great introductory thread - very fun! I look forward to seeing more of Ginko!
