Sun, Fun, and The Gullible Masses! [Sagan]

The sun beat down on the Southern Tropics as it usually did, the heat of the day being nothing too terribly out of the ordinary for the region. Sagan had gotten fairly used to it throughout his time living there, which had been coming up on quite a while. Things had changed rather recently, though, as he'd finally decided that it was about time he ceased training by himself and began to scour the Earth in hopes to find a master, or at the very least, a training partner. His desire to become stronger had began to peak, and he wasn't doing himself any favors anymore by brushing up on his skills against, essentially, himself. He also wasn't exactly making a very impressive sum of Zeni by selling fish and completing other odd jobs out across the Eternal Ocean, where his house was. He had goals to accomplish, Zeni to make, and Dragon Balls to eventually find. It was officially time for his journey to begin. 

And so, equipped with a rather large backpack of supplies, he departed from the comfort of his own home, and sailed into the sky. What better place to start his search than the relaxing yet bustling South City? Although, he would've been lying if he were to say that a part of the reason his journey would start there was to acquire some good food to fill his stomach as he got started.

Sagan walked along the beachside, taking in both the beautiful view of the ocean and the variety of passerby that surrounded him. They all seemed so...normal. No one very out of the ordinary. Perhaps he should have went to Central City instead. He was sure that, with the sheer population that resided in that city, there were bound to be powerful fighters there. Although he was also fairly certain that the food there wouldn't hold a candle to the food in South City.

Sagan felt a grin form across his face, as he considered the possibilities of where his journey would eventually lead him. As he continued to walk, though, he spotted something rather interesting out of the corner of his eye. It seemed to be some sort of table...was it a food stand? Sagan paused for a moment before deciding he would go find out, walking straight towards the setup.

As he moved closer and closer to the arrangement, he realized that it wasn't a food stand at all. Disappointing. However, this did seem to be something of interest, an arrangement much different than the typical stands in the area, that were mainly boasting touristy trinkets and cheap apparel. Sagan's eyes scanned the sign over. Magic? Omen Predictions? Some would say that this all should've been right up his alley, given the very nature of his being. His eyes moved towards the lady. She definitely stood out amongst the pack. He wondered if her magic had any merit, though.

"Oi, Magic-Lady. Quite the setup you have there. Are you a real magician?" Sagan asked her, making his presence known if it wasn't already.

Sagan narrowed his eyes as he waited for a response. Was...was she asleep? In that short amount of time, he'd considered just leaving, but she managed to realize she was being spoken to and woke back up fairly quickly. It was at this moment that Sagan noticed the deer like ears atop the ladies' head. "Generational, huh...?" He asked, rather unconvinced. That was, until he noticed the energy that radiated off her staff. His eyes widened a bit. Was this lady actually the real deal? He hadn't come across many valid magic practicers since the downfall of his tribe. Come to think of it, he did notice a rather noteworthy level of energy coming from the lady, after all.

Sagan's dull blue eyes shifted to the side for a moment as he considered whether he would actually entertain this whole ensemble or not. On one hand, he sort of felt as though he'd had better things to do. On the other, he would've been lying if he were to say he wasn't the least bit interested about getting a card reading. He also was a bit curious on this lady's whole deal, in general. 

"Alright Magic-lady. Let's see what you're about." He said, cracking a slight grin. He dug into his pockets and grabbed 100 Zeni, before walking over, handing the money to the woman, and sitting down opposite her. "This better not come along with some sort of curse, though." He warned.

Sagan didn't fully understand half of the funny words that emerged from the mouth of the so-called Magical Meara, but he would have liked to have thought that he understood the general gist of what she was saying. "Mmm, yes. Very curious indeed." He responded to her first statement, stroking his chin as if he knew what she had meant.

First came the moon. According to Meara, it meant that, in his past, there had perhaps been some sort of falsity that had withheld his desire to grow. Already, there was some truth to what Meara was saying. Sagan had been attempting to find out who or what really destroyed his people, to no avail, so far. Despite that, he decided he would brush it off for now. "Damn that mother moon. I'll beat her and usurp her position as master of the tides one day." He said, only half-jokingly.

Second, came the magician. Sagan's eyes lit up a bit as Meara explained the name and idea behind the card. By the time she'd finished explaining it, he'd pretty much tuned her out. "Ah, this one must mean I'm destined to become a powerful magician. Perhaps even more powerful than you one day!" He said with a smile, having basically ignored what she said. 

By now, Sagan had been feeling pretty good about himself. The last card pretty much sealed it, though. "Authority...power, huh...?" Sagan said to himself, once again having ignored the potential caveats that came along with what Meara said. He once again fixated his attention on the Magical Meara.

"Why yes, there was ample insight in that. I take back any reservations I might have given you. I for one think you make for a fine magician, Magical Meara. I didn't know these fortune cards could be so...telling!" He praised.

"Tell me. How did you first become a magician? I mean, you're obviously pretty good at it. You must have been  studying magic for quite a while now." Sagan continued.

"Believe me, not uncommon is an understatement." Sagan said solemnly to the girl, as his eyes shifted towards the ground for a moment. At least he wasn't alone in that notion. It was sad to think about, but in the end, it didn't matter. He would enact his revenge and bring his people back with due time, that he was sure of.

Sagan then narrowed his eyes at the strange deer girl, as she spoke of her relatively combative nature. He didn't really buy it, not for a second. "What kind of thwaps are we talking about here, lady? You talk like you've never been in a fight before but the power I'm sensing from you says otherwise..." Sagan said. Was it possible that he'd had to train at least to some degree throughout his life in order to achieve this level of power, but she had it naturally? No...it couldn't be.

Sagan jumped to his feet, and crossed his arms. "That's it, Marla. I've decided you owe me a spar." Sagan said, not aware of the fact that he'd promptly gotten her name wrong. Sagan didn't necessarily mean for it to be right then and there, but he wasn't going to allow her to go on like this forever without him being able to see what her actual power was like. Eventually, he would have to fight her. "Then we'll see about your thwaps."
